Falling In Love scraps for a sweet thank you card

After my Stamp-A-Stack event early this month I was left with a lot of scraps of the Falling In Love designer series paper (dsp) pack and decided to use some of them to make a simple thank you card.

I die cut a large heart from a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock using the Sweet and Sassy Heart framelit dies. I laid this panel onto a Blushing Bride card base and lightly traced around it with a pencil. I used this pencil outline to help me place my thin strips of Falling In Love dsp, making sure that I covered the entire heart shaped area. I added the Very Vanilla layer on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I die cut a small Sweet and Sassy Heart from Copper Foil paper and adhered it to the right of the large heart.  The sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up! stamp set, but…….I can’t remember which one – it was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock and I flagged the end using the sharp Paper Snips from Stampin’ Up!

Fiesta Time – a book fold card for our team challenge

This month’s team challenge is to make a fun fold card. So, I had a lovely time this afternoon trawling through Pinterest …….love Pinterest……looking at lots of lovely different styles of cards, so many to choose from.

The card I really loved was made by Patsy Waggoner – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__3yu3Lu_7o&t=694s– . She demonstrated a book fold card, a card type I have never made and used the Birthday Fiesta stamp set and co-ordinating Fiesta Time Framelits which I love.

I changed the colours to Tempting Turquoise, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron and Cucumber Crush. I didn’t use an embossing folder on the Whisper White front panel, I liked it better plain.  I loved the cactus’ which I stamped in Cucumber Crush adding a cute little Sweet Sugarplum flower to the middle one which I had raised up on Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of So Saffron cardstock and the ends were flagged using the Triple Banner Punch.  The bunting was stamped in Tempting Turquoise, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron and Cucumber Crush.

For the inside I chose Sweet Sugarplum cardstock, Check out Patsy’s video for the dimensions and the instructions for cutting and scoring. I cut out the thin strips of bunting using So Saffron, Cucumber Crush and Tempting Turquoise cardstock and added them to the top panel. I don’t have the dsp pack that Patsy used so I made my own by stamping the thin bunting in my 4 chosen colours onto Whisper White cardstock before cutting into 2 small panels and a long strip.

The gorgeous Llama was stamped with Crumb Cake ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black and die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies and the Big Shot.

Beatles & Bugs – Get Well Card

I have been working with the Beatles & Bugs stamp set, available in the 2017 Spring/Summer catalogue and what a cute set it is. I really wish I had had this set when my son was a small boy, he would have loved it.

I used it today to make a get well card, couldn’t resist the idea of ‘having a bug’ …….. I know I need help………

I wanted to have the bugs crawling out from under something and chose to die cut a circle using the Layering Circle Framelits. I very lightly drew around the inside of the chosen die on my Whisper White panel (and rubbed the pencil lines out later) so that I could work out the placement of my bugs. I chose the bug with long legs and antennae …….creepy……..then added some of the ants to give the card a bit more ‘movement’. The bugs and ants were stamped using Archival basic Gray ink and were then coloured in using Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi markers.

I couldn’t find a sentiment that I was appropriate in any of my stamp sets so I found a font I liked on my PC and printed the words onto Whisper White cardstock and then die cut them out. I die cut a larger Wild Wasabi circle to frame the sentiment and added it to the stamped panel using Dimensionals.

I added the stamped layer to a panel of Pacific Point with Tombow Liquid Adhesive before adding the whole piece to a Daffodil Delight card base. I deliberately added each layer crookedly to add to the feeling that everything was out of sorts. I added a trail of ants up the inside of the card and the envelope….. eeeerrgghhhh.

I really like the idea of the card but in hindsight I think the Daffodil Delight is a bit bright, maybe a more neutral colour would have worked better. What do you think?

Beautiful You for February Classes

Thank you to the lovely ladies who came to my classes this month. We had a great time using the fantastic Beautiful You stamp set with the three gorgeous ladies.

The colour palette I chose was influenced by a card we made at our January team training session. I loved the Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay colour combination. So bright and summery for these cold and gloomy days.

For the first card we used the lovely Water Colour Pencils along with the Blender Pen to colour in the lady. I chose to add a sentiment from the Weather Together stamp set as ‘wishing you brighter days’ seemed to go so well with the image of the lady with her umbrella.

The ‘dancing lady’ was stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock as we were going to water colour using ink and an Aqua Painter and the Shimmery White stands up to the water better than regular Whisper White.

One of the ladies said the third lady reminded her of the stunning Audrey Hepburn and I have to say I agree. This lady was paper pieced, another fab technique, using a piece of the Bermuda Bay dsp from the Brights Paper Stack. The background was created using the Star mask from the Hearts and Stars Decorative Masks. Gorgeous.

I loved all three cards this month, these ladies are so elegant.

Delicate Details paired with Avant Garden

I was stamping the beautiful, watercolour style flower from the Avant Garden stamp set in different colours, looking for inspiration for a clean and simple card for a friends’ birthday when I stumbled across Tempting Turquoise, a colour I don’t use very often …………. and I loved it.

I took a panel of Whisper White and stamped the flower once and then again, lower and to the right without re-inking to get a 2nd generation flower.  I added a stem in stamped using Wild Wasabi ink and then added leave using the 1st and 2nd generation Wild Wasabi ink. I stamped the sentiment from the same set  in the Wild Wasabi and added a small Linen Thread bow using a Mini Glue Dot.

I loved the stamped panel but knew the card needed something else to pull it together. I tried a strip of dsp from the The Brights Paper Stack in the Tempting Turquoise but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. Ribbon didn’t work either, so I started browsing through my stamp sets looking for a border stamp that might work. At that point my order arrived – whoop whoop – and in it was the gorgeous lacy Delicate Details stamp set. This was exactly what I was looking for.

I stamped the lace edge border stamp in the Tempting Turquoise to the left side of the Thick Whisper White card base and added the stamped layer next to it using Dimensionals.

Such a simple card but so pretty. I hope my friend likes it.

Dragonfly Dreams meets Falling in Love – Such Gorgeousness…..

I’ve been playing with the beautiful Falling In Love designer series paper (dsp) lately – we used it in last weeks Stamp-a-Stack and have been itching to use the paper in combination with the new Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the co-ordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  I thought the lovely soft colours would go well with the ethereal dragonflies.

I chose the pink ‘bokeh’ patterned paper for my first card. I love creating this effect with inks, masks and sponge daubers and have used this technique in a class before…….. might try it again soon.  The colours used in the dsp are lovely, Soft Sky, Sweet Sugarplum, Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand.

I chose a Blushing Bride cardstock base and mounted the dsp onto a panel of Chocolate Chip cardstock before adding it to the card base with Tombow liquid Adhesive. I felt it needed a darker layer to set off the paler colours and Chocolate Chip has a slight pink tone to it.

I wanted to add a bit of WOW to the card so die cut the cute string of small dragonflies using the fabulous Copper Foil Paper which is so shiny, love it. I added the dragonflies to the card from using tiny pieces of dimensionals to lift them up and create shadow. I added the sentiment from the same stamp set using Chocolate Chip ink.

Stamp-A-Stack update

Last Saturday I held my first ever Stamp-A-Stack and it went really well……phew…and I didn’t forget anything!!!! Thanks to my lovely friend and downline Jo law for all her help.

The lovely ladies who came were each given a goodie bag containing a pack of the Falling In Love designer series paper (dsp), a pack of Linen Thread and a pack of Basic Pearls along with 20 co-ordinating card bases, Sahara sand, Blushing Bride, Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Dapper Denim and Soft Suede and 20 Very Vanilla Envelopes. They also had a little sweet treat each – after all you can’t craft without chocolate (or cake which was provided by the adjacent café for those that wanted it).

I set up 5 project tables with 2 card variations per table and the ladies worked their way round from table to table making up to 4 cards at each. At each table the ladies picked up a pack of pre-prepared cardstock layers, then selected and cut the dsp they wanted to use on each card. Each table concentrated on one Stamp set from the Annual Catalogue – Baby Bear, Sitting Here and Touches of Texture – or the Spring/Summer catalogue – Nailed It and Beautiful You – with a mixture of additional sentiments for them to choose from.

Beautiful You for Treat Boxes

I absolutely love the Beautiful You stamp set from the new spring/summer catalogue by Stampin’ Up! The images of the 3 ladies in the stamp set are so versatile and classic and as a bonus, there are lots of great sentiments included in the stamp set as well. What’s not to love…..

Over the weekend I have been making these cute little boxes to give as table gifts to the ladies attending my classes in February.

To make the boxes I used Whisper White cardstock cut to 9” by 4½”. I scored the cardstock at 1”, 4”, 5” and 8” on the long side and 1” and 3½” on the short side using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I cut up the short scorelines to form a pizza style box and adhered the tabs using FastFuse adhesive. I stamped a small panel of Whisper White cardstock with an image from the Beautiful You stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The sketchy watercolor effect dress is a stamp also included in the stamp set. I used Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo or Daffodil Delight ink pads to colour the lady’s dress then added a scattering of tiny hearts, using a stamp from the Any Occasions stamp set (available for free with a £45 order until the 31st March 2017) and the same 3 colours. The Whisper White panel was then backed with a layer of the same colour as the sketchy dress, i.e. Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo or Daffodil Delight cardstock and added to the box with Dimensionals.
