Swaps for OnStage Telford April 2018

Bubble Over Swaps

I am so excited to be going to OnStage in Telford, UK tomorrow. Looking forward to spending time with my team, catching up with old friends and making new ones and of course SWAPPING!!!! Today I am sharing my swap.

I knew I wanted to use my new Stamparatus and the Bottles and Bubbles dies and Bubble Over stamp set to make my OnStage swaps so began with a scrap panel of Whisper White cardstock.

I started by making a template using a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cutting the large bottle in the middle of the panel using my Big Shot and the Bottles & Bubbles framelit dies. I then die cut a further 64 large bottles from scrap pieces of Whisper White cardstock and set them aside.

I positioned the negative bottle image template onto the Stamparatus on top of the foam panel and inserted the large bottle stamp into the negative space before closing the door to pick up the stamp.

I inserted the die cut bottles, one at a time into the negative space inking up the bottle stamp in Always Artichoke ink (perfect colour for a champagne bottle) and closing the panel to stamp onto the die cut bottle.

I absolutely love this technique and it was so much faster doing it this way. Love it! My Always Artichoke ink pad was quite dry and I don’t have the re-inker so I double stamped the first 3 -4 bottles but the more I stamped the more I liked the aged, vintage look the dry ink pad gave so decided not to double stamp the remaining bottles.

I die cut 65 of the large bottle labels from scrap Whisper White cardstock with the Bottles and Bubbles dies and die cut lots of stars using the Mini Treat Bag dies and scraps of Real Red cardstock. I added a star to the centre of each label with Tombow Liquid Adhesive then added the label with the same glue to the front of each bottle.

I cut 65 panels of Whisper White 4¾” by 3” and rounded the upper right hand corner with my Envelope Punch Board. I placed the panels onto the Stamparatus platform and laid the sentiment stamp from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set – love the font – onto the panel then picked it up with the right hand panel. I inked up the stamp with Real Red ink and stamped onto each panel in turn. Perfectly positioned!

Next, I laid a bottle into position on the stamped Whisper White panel and stamped the stars from the Confetti Celebration stamp set in Real Red ink, I repeated this step on the other panels. The Whisper White layers were then glued to panels of Real Red cardstock 5” by 3¼” also with the upper right hand corner rounded.

I added the die cut bottles on Stampin’ Dimensionals to the stamped panel before adding the whole topper to a Thick Whisper White card base. To finish off I added some Basic Rhinestones to each card.

Birthday card using Stampin' Up! product

Bottles & Bubbles His & Hers cards for a team challenge

Every month our team are set a challenge by our lovely upline Mikaela Titheridge – thecraftyoinkpen.co.uk – This month’s challenge was to create a card for a girl and a card for a guy using the same layout. We are allowed to use a different stamp set or dies for each card but the layout has to be recognisably the same.

I chose to use the gorgeous Bottles and Bubbles Framelit Dies for both cards and started by die cutting a number of the large and small bottles from Whisper White cardstock using the Bottles and Bubbles Framelit dies. I also cut out a large bottle in Pacific Point cardstock and Rose Red cardstock.

Taking 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I placed the Pacific Point bottle on one layer and the Rose Red bottle on the other then randomly laid out the die cut white bottles to fill the remaining space. Although the layout was the same I had already decided to have one card portrait style and the other landscape.

Originally I planned to pop up the coloured bottles on Stampin’ Dimensionals but I didn’t like how that looked; instead all the bottles were adhered to the Whisper White panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I used scissors to trim off the over-hanging die cut bottles.

The male, Pacific Point version was added to a Thick Whisper White card base and the Rose Red version to a Rose Red card base in the same way. I stamped the sentiment from the Bird Banter stamp set onto 2 strips of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by ⅜”, one using Pacific Point Ink, the other in Rose Red ink. I banner ended both pieces using Scissors but ended cutting the Pacific Point version down to about 1½”.

I love the simplicity of these cards, hope you like them.

Fun card with bottles

Row of Bottles Bubble Over

I seem to have a bit of a theme going on this week as today’s project started with the negative image left after die cutting a row of Bottles using the Bottles and Bubbles dies. It was the perfect size to fit a card front and I couldn’t resist adding some fun colours.

Quirky bottles of pop for a card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Bouquet stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I had planned to raise the Chocolate Chip die cut layer on Stampin’ Dimensionals but the strips between the bottles were just too narrow; I ended up gluing it to the Thick Whisper White card base with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I then used Post It Notes to mask off each bottle in turn and added colour to the negative image using Sponge Daubers. I used Berry Burst ink, Lemon Lime Twist ink, Bermuda Bay ink, Calypso Coral ink and Pacific Point ink keeping the colour darkest at the bottom of each bottle. I then stamped the bubble image on each bottle in the co-ordinating ink colour.

The bottle tops were die cut from a scrap of Silver Foil and added to the top of each bottle with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I added the sentiment from the Party Pandas stamp set, stamped in Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock in the bottom left hand corner – to cover a small miss stamp – ssshhh don’t tell………no–one will ever know!!

Bubble Over Stampin' Up!

Bubble Over for January Classes

For January’s classes we used the very quirky and versatile Bubble Over stamp set and the co-ordinating Bottles & Bubbles Framelit dies, the ladies loved them. As their table gift I gave each lady as 6” by 6” sample pack of the co-ordinating Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper (dsp) which is available as a free Sale-a-Bration item with a £45 order.

Bubbles and Bottles on a card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

We started the first card by die-cutting a large and small bottle from one of the Bubble & Fizz dsp sheets. I love that the dies can be used to cut out the dsp patterns in this way. We stamped the ‘bubble’ image in Lemon Lime Twist ink randomly across the upper third of a strip of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2½”. The prototype card in the picture shows the bubbles in Daffodil Delight ink but we decided we preferred the Lemon Lime Twist.  The sentiment – either Love You or Thank You – from the Baby Bear stamp set was then stamped at the bottom of the panel in Bermuda Bay ink. We took a small piece of Lemon Lime Twist striped ribbon, about 4”, and wrapped it around the white panel securing on the back with Sellotape. The ladies then chose a pattern from the dsp and cut 2 strips each 6” by ½”, they then glued the strips on either side of the Whisper White panel. This panel was then adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The die cut bottles were then adhered to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Have a birthday brew card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

For the second card the ladies chose a piece of dsp and using the Stampin’ Trimmer cut it to 5⅜” by 3⅝”. This panel was then added at an angle, or catawampus to a Lemon Lime Twist card base. On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock the ladies stamped the larger bottle using Archival Basic Gray ink and a Stampin’ Pierce Mat to get a good image. We also stamped the label in Lemon Lime Twist ink and the sentiment was added on top in Archival Basic Gray ink. These pieces were then die cut using the Big Shot and they also die cut one of the cute little bottle caps. The label and bottle cap were glued to the front of the bottle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” the ladies die cut an oval using the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies. This panel was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the die cut bottle was added using Stampin’ Dimensionals and Tombow glue.

Bright and colourful bottle tag

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

Thirdly we made a bottle tag starting with a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock 8¼” by 2½” which we scored using the Stampin’ Trimmer (love that it cuts and scores) at 5½”. Taking a 1¼” Circle Punch we punched a hole roughly in the centre of the smaller side. At the bottom of the longer side we cut a shallow banner using scissors. The ladies then chose a piece of dsp and cut it to 4½” by 2⅜” and adhered it above the banner point. Bubbles were then stamped in either Lemon Lime Twist ink or Bermuda Bay ink across the top and down one side of a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4¾” by 1½” and this piece was added to the tag on top of the dsp. Taking a scrap Whisper White cardstock the ladies stamped the larger bottle in Archival Basic Gray ink, the label in Calypso Coral ink and the sentiment in Archival Basic Gray. These pieces were then die cut using the Bottles and Bubble Framelit dies along with one of the cute straws.  The labels and straw were then added with Tombow Liquid Adhesive to the die cut bottle and the bottle added with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the bottle tag.

To finish off the projects the ladies added some of the mini sequins taken from the Silver Sequin Trim using the Fine-Tip Liquid Adhesive.

The ladies loved the projects and I want to thank them for all the fun, laughter and chat this week.

Champagne hearts

Bubble Over for an engagement congratulations card

The Bubble Over stamp set, available from the 3rd January in my online store, makes a lovely understated congratulations card.

I wanted the main element on the front of the card to look like a bottle of Champagne. I tried stamping the ‘largest bottle’ image in Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, I liked it but the colour just wasn’t right. For the second attempt I tried Old Olive ink but it was much too light so I stamped the bottle again using Always Artichoke ink which was perfect. I die cut the stamped bottle using the co-ordinating Bottles and Bubbles Framelit dies and my Big Shot. I also die cut one of the label pieces from a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the ‘small heart’ image onto the label in Real Red ink and added it to the front of the die cut bottle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Congratulations card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock using my Paper Trimmer to 5” by 3½”, placed my die cut bottle roughly in position then stamped the heart image using 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th  generation Real Red ink to look as if the hearts were bubbling out of the bottle. Leaving the bottle roughly in position I inked up the sentiment from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set in Always Artichoke ink and stamped it to the side of the bottle. The bottle was then added to the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Romantic congratulations card

I added apiece of the gorgeous ⅛” Real Red Ribbon from the Autumn/Winter catalogue along the bottom of the panel and tied a small bow. I love this ribbon and will really miss it when it retires next week.  To finish the panel off I rounded the upper right corner with my retired Project Life Corner Rounder.

Champagne hearts

I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock 4⅛” by 3⅝” and added it to the front of a Crumb Cake card base and added the decorated panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive for both pieces. To add some sparkle I used 3 of the hearts from the Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes.

I plan to give this card to the son of a friend and his new fiancée, hope they like it.
