Stitched With Cheer – making cards with scraps

I was making up some demo cards using the gorgeous Stitched With Cheer kit ready for my December classes. I love that the kit includes kraft envelopes and dsp liners but noticed that a good 3” of the liner was hidden inside the envelope, so I cut it off. I used these off cuts to make simple cards.

I cut the 3” strips of dsp in half to give me 6 pieces 1½” by 5½”. Using the Triple Banner Punch I pennanted the ends of all the strips. I then cut the strips into different lengths.

1-dscf8540For the first card I sewed the strips together at the top with gold baker’s twine and tied a bow on the right side. I added the sewn piece, using dimensionals, to a Whisper White card base and added a sentiment from he Stitched With Cheer stamp set in Emerald Envy ink. This card was then entered into our monthly team challenge – this month’s theme is ‘stitching’.

1-dscf8545I wrapped some Emerald Envy Bakers Twine at the top of the remaining 3 strips and tied a bow before adding to a Crumb Cake card base. The same sentiment and ink colour was used.

We all have off cuts from pieces of dsp that we can’t bear to throw away, crafters are notoriously thrifty!!!

Stitched With Cheer

In this years’ Autumn – Winter Catalogue there is a great kit called the Stitched With Cheer Project Kit containing 18 cards to make each including an element of hand stitching which is so fashionable this year. In addition to the kit there is an accompanying stamp set.

Today, I decided to have a play with this set, also called Stitched With Cheer. It contains lots of lovely seasonal sentiments and many small images including snowflakes, stars, trees and holly leaves.

I used Crumb Cake cardstock for all 3 card bases and stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock using the 3 snowflake images from the set. I used Crumb Cake, Delightful Dijon (1st and 2nd generation) and Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the images.

In the 1st card I layered the Very Vanilla stamped piece onto a panel of Delightful Dijon cardstock before adhering it to the card base using Tombow Glue. The sentiment was die cut using the Bunch of Banners framelits and added with dimensionals and added some of the Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes.

I added a panel of retired Bohemian dsp to the Crumb Cake card base with Tombow. The stamped panel of Very Vanilla was added with dimensionals and after wrapping some of the gold metallic thread from the Bakers Twine Trio Pack around and tying it into a small bow with long tails.

To the 3rd card base I added a strip of Gold Glimmer card and a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock to the left hand side. The Very Vanilla stamped panel was added with Tombow after adding a wrap of the gold bakers twine.

I am really happy with these cards and can’t wait to try the 3 small tree stamps.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. Hope you like the projects I shared and that you will drop by again soon
