Blue Birdhouses for the Stamping Inkspiations Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop where we have be challenged to create a monochromatic project using only shades of blue. After a lot of trial and error I opted to use the Garden Birdhouse stamp set to make a blue birdhouse card.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the blue birdhouses card, you will need:

Pool Party card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛”
Starry Sky card – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Basic White card – 5¼” by 3½”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside

A sweet Christmas card made using all the shades of green in the Stampin' Up! colour palette

Monochromatic From Our House To Yours

Today I am sharing a Monochromatic From Our House To Yours  Christmas Card which I made a while ago for a team challenge. I love these challenges as they really push you out of your comfort zone and force you to use different  products, colours or layouts than you would normally choose.

To recreate the Monochromatic From Your House To Yours card you will need:

Soft Sea Foam card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Most Wonderful Time dsp – 5¼” by 3⅜” – rounded upper left corner
Whisper White – 5” by 3⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Whisper White – 5⅜ by 3⅝” – rounded upper left corner – for the inside

Taking the smaller panel of Whisper White I drew a light pencil line about an inch from the bottom. I used the line to position the house as I have real problems stamping straight……

I stamped the central house in Old Olive ink and added the roof in Shaded Spruce ink. The house to the right was stamped in Granny Apple Green ink  and the roof in Mossy Meadow ink.

The small house on the left was stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink and the roof added in Garden Green ink. The trees were added in Shaded Spruce.

A sweet monochromatic thank you card made using the Very Versailles stamp set for a team challenge

Very Versailles in Monochrome

Today’s card was made for our latest team challenge – the theme is Monochrome. I have used the gorgeous Very Versailles stamp set and Early Espresso ink to get a sepia inspired card.

To recreate the Very Versailles Monochrome card you will need:

Early Espresso card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝ x 2 – rounded upper right corner
Early Espresso – 3” by 3”
Whisper White – 3” by 3”

I wanted the stunningly intricate frameto be the focal point of the card so began by stamping  it in full strength  or 1st generation Early Espresso ink. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in 1st generation Early Espresso ink.

The image was then die cut using the Stitched Shapes dies. Whilst I was at the Big Shot I die cut a slightly larger scalloped Early Espresso circle using the Layering Circle dies. The 2 circles were glued together using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

Monochromatic Beauty Abounds

Today I am sharing the card I made for a team challenge. We were asked to make a simple card using either a stamp set you haven’t used or a colour you don’t use much. I chose to make a monochromatic card using the Beauty Abounds stamp set. I have used this stamp set once before, however the stamps I have used for this card are ones I haven’t previously used.

Making the card

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I decided to make a monochromatic card and to keep the supplies used to a minimum in line with Stampin’ Up!’s challenge to make simple cards #SimpleStamping. I chose the Gorgeous Grape ink pad.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I cut a panel of Whisper White cardstock at 5⅜” by 3⅝” and inked up the larger of the 2 bokeh dot stamps with the Gorgeous Grape ink. I stamped the first image in the centre of the card, lifted the stamp, rotated it and stamped again without re-inking. I then rotated the stamp again and stamped without re-inking. In all I stamped 5 times without re-inking allowing the colour to get lighter and lighter eack time.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I inked up one of the butterflies in the Gorgeous Grape ink and stamped it 5 times overlapping the bokeh dots, inking it up each time so the butterflies were nice and dark.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink and added the second part of the sentiment to the inside with the smaller bokeh dot image.  I had planned to add the stamped layer directly to the Thick Whisper White card front but had to add a Gorgeous Grape panel (5½” by 3¾”) to hide the fact that I had stamped on the reverse of the Whisper White cardstock and the stamping was showing through.

I really like the way the card turned out. Hope you like it.
