A pretty good luck card made using the stunning Watercolor World background stamp by Stampin' Up!

Watercolor World Good Luck card

I have been playing today with the gorgeous Watercolor World stamp set, which will be available from the 5th January 2023, and a simple colour palette.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the watercolor world card, you will need:

Thick Basic White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛”
Favored Flowers dsp – 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Basic White card – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Scrap Basic White & Pool Party card

This is a large background style stamp and I find these much easier to work with if I mount them on a Stamparatus plate.

I inked the image with Old Olive ink and stamped the image down, using the Stamparatus, onto the panel of Basic White card.

This step was repeated to get a darker image. I love the dark and light areas of the stamped image.

Using a blending brush, I added Pool Party ink around the edges of the panel to suggest water.

The sentiment from the Sending Support stamp set was stamped onto scrap Basic White card and punched out with a ¾” circle punch. I added this to a Pool Party circle punched from scrap using a 1” circle punch.

Checked Magnolias

I have been messing about with my Stamparatus and various background stamps this week. I love being able to re-stamp these large images to achieve a richer, more colour saturated look. Here are a couple of the projects I came up with.

To recreate the checked magnolia cards you will need;

Thick Whisper White card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White cardstock 5 ½” by 3 ¾”

Seaside Spray card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Blueberry Bushel cardstock 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Whisper White cardstock 5 ½” by 3 ¾” x 3
Scrap Whisper White

Using the Stamparatus I stamped the large Buffalo Check image in Seaside Spray ink onto one of the Whisper White panels. I repeated the stamping with another panel of Whisper White and Blueberry Bushel ink.

The large magnolia bloom was then stamped over the top of both panels in Memento Tuxedo Black.  To get a good dark image these were stamped 2 or 3 times.

I die cut both the magnolias using the Magnolia Memory dies.

I mounted the Seaside Spray checked panel to the Blueberry Bushel layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I added the Blueberry Bushel magnolia into the negative space on Dimensionals and added the whole piece to the Seaside Spray card base. The sentiment was stamped in Seaside Spray ink.

I glued the die cut Seaside Spray checked Magnolia to the remaining Whisper White layer, wrapped a piece of ⅛” Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon around the bottom of the layer. The sentiment was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink and the entire layer added to the Thick Whisper White card base on Dimensionals.

I love the way these cards turned out, can’t wait to try it out with other background stamps. I hope you like them.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

Mirrored Rooted in Nature

Today I have been playing with my Stamparatus and have come up with a lovely mirrored Rooted in Nature stamp set.

Making the Mirrored Rooted in Nature card

I began with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2¾”. I placed it in the corner of my Stamparatus , placed the cut through tree trunk image on the upper half  and picked up the stamp using one of the clear panels. I inked the stamp in Balmy Blue ink and stamped it down. I then rotated the Whisper White panel through 180⁰ and stamped again without re-inking to give a mirror image.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique

I placed the lovely tall tree image over the stamped tree ring, picked it up with the other panel. Inked it up with Early Espresso Ink and stamped it down. The whisper White cardstock was again rotated through 180⁰ and the image was stamped again. I love this look.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique

I added a 5⅞” by ½” strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock to either side of the stamped panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added this piece to the front of a Balmy Blue card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Blueberry Bushel onto a scrap of Whisper White and I flagged the ends using the Tailored Tag Punch. It was added to the front of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To complete the card I added a piece of ⅛” Blueberry Bushel ribbon and tied it in a bow.

A sweet and simple card, I hope you like it.

Spirited Snowman for Christmas

Spirited Snowmen for a Stamp’N Hop

My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. If you have hopped over from the lovely Eva Pottsova I am sure you loved her project. One of the first things that caught my eye in the new Holiday Catalogue was the adorable Spirited Snowmen stamp set. Those snowmen are just sooooo cute.

Dancing Snowman card

For the first card I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4 ¼” by 2 ¾” which I placed in my Stamparatus. I inked up the Buffalo Check stamp with Poppy Parade ink and stamped it down. I find using the big background stamps with the Stamparatus gives a much better image. I added the stamped piece to a panel of Poppy Parade cardstock 4⅜” by 2⅞” and added it to a Thick Whisper White card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Spirited Snowman for Christmas

www.carfty-rootes.com – Spirited Snowman stamp st by Stampin’Up! for sweet Christmas cards

Next I stamped the Dancing Snowman in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White 3” by 3” and used the Blueberry Bushel, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede markers to colour him in. He looks so happy doesn’t he?

Spirited Snowman for Christmas

www.carfty-rootes.com – Spirited Snowman stamp st by Stampin’Up! for sweet Christmas cards

I die cut the snowman using the Layering Circles dies and the Big Shot and die cut a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel scalloped circle and adhered them together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set in Blueberry Bushel and added the image to the right side of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To complete the card I added some Red Rhinestones and a Blueberry Bushel bow with a Mini Glue Dots.

Skating Snowman card

I started with a panel of Balmy Blue cardstock 5⅞” by 4⅛”. I placed this in the Stamparatus, inked up the large Buffalo Check background stamp with Blueberry Bushel ink and stamped it onto the Balmy Blue cardstock. The stamped Buffalo Check piece was then cut on the diagonal using the Stampin’ Trimmer and adhered to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base.

Spirited Snowman for Christmas

www.carfty-rootes.com – Spirited Snowman stamp st by Stampin’Up! for sweet Christmas cards

I cut a strip of Silver Foil at 6” by ¼” and adhered it to the card front above the stamped panel leaving a small gap between the two pieces.

I stamped the gorgeous ‘skating snowman’ onto a panel of Whisper White approximately 3” by 3” and coloured it in using the Blueberry Bushel, Poppy Parade, Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie Markers. He looks adorable. The piece was the die cut using the Big Shot and the Layering Circles dies.

Spirited Snowman for Christmas

I die cut a slightly larger scalloped circle from Blueberry Bushel cardstock and added it to the stamped circle. I then die cut a slightly larger circle from Poppy parade and adhered it to the back of the scalloped circle with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.  This piece was then added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and a scattering of Red Rhinestones was added for that bit of extra sparkle.

The sentiment was stamped in Poppy Parade ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and backed by a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock. I banner cut the end and stuck it to the card front.

Gorgeous trio of cards using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Blended Seasons Classes

Today I am sharing the cards we made during this month’s classes. We used the gorgeous Blended Seasons stamp set and the co-ordinating Stitched Seasons dies. This set is only available until the 31st August or while stocks last so if you like it don’t wait to buy it. I decided to use this set to do a masterclass in colouring using Blends, Watercolor Pencils with Blender Pens and ink pads with Aquapainters.

Card 1 – Blossoms

The first card was very straight forward but to ensure everyone got a crisp stamped image we mounted the stamp onto the Stampartus. We stamped onto a panel of Whisper White measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The ladies then chose a duo of Blends Pens to colour the flowers and a second set to colour the leaves. The sample used the Cherry Coober duo for 2 flowers and the Poppy Parade duo for the 3rd flower. I used the Granny Apple Green duo for the leaves.

Gorgeous floral card using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

Using the Detailed Trio Punch we rounded the upper left corner of the stamped panel and a panel of Basic Gray measuring 5½” by 3¾” and adhered the two together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. We stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. Using the Blends pens we coloured some pearls to co-ordinate with the coloured image and added them to the panel before adhering it to a Thick Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Card 2 – Christmas!!!!!

In my opinion it is never too early to make Christmas cards and thankfully my ladies were prepared to indulge me! We began by taking a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and die cutting the middle stitched shape from the gorgeous Stitched Seasons dies. These are lovely dies used on their own but absolutely stunning when layered together.

Gorgeous Christmas card using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

We stamped the sentiment and the holly boughs in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto the die cut Shimmery White piece and coloured them in using the lovely Watercolor Pencils from the original set and the set currently available until August 31st. We then blended the colour with Blender Pens.

Taking a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock 5¼” by 3½” we stamped the sweet leaf image in the left upper and right lower corners using Garden Green ink and adhered the label to a Thick Whisper White card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. We added a strip of Cherry Cobbler 5⅞” by ⅜” across the centre and added the coloured panel on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added a scattering of coloured Basic Pearls to the panel.

Card 3 – Autumnal Easel

We started making this card by die cutting the lovely stitched frames using the Big shot. The largest shape was cut from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the medium size from Shimmery White cardstock. We also die cut the sweet leaf shape from the Stitched Seasons dies from Copper Foil Paper.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

We stamped the gorgeous leaf image in Versamark ink onto the Shimmery White die cut piece and covered it with Copper Embossing powder which we heat set with the Heat Tool……….and yes most of us remembered to use the Embossing Buddy.

Gorgeous Autumnal Easel card using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

We used Cherry Cobbler ink pad, Pumpkin Pie ink pad, Crushed Curry ink pad and Garden Green ink pad and Aquapainters to colour in the image. Love the effect watercoloring gives and the fact that you can layer up the colour to get a rich, intense colour. WE stamped the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink before adhering the stamped layer to the Cherry Cobbler layer.

We added the panel to a card base of Thick Whisper White 11¾” by 4⅛”, scored at 2 15/16ths and 5⅞”. You need to make sure you only add glue to the bottom half of the panel or the card fold won’t work properly. The copper leaf is then added to the inside of the card on Dimensionals to act as a stopper. We added coloured Basic Pearls to finish the card.

Christmas Wreath using the Painted Harvest stamp set

Today I am sharing the card I made for this month’s team challenge the theme of which was ‘make a Christmas project using non Christmas supplies. I decided to try making a Christmas Wreath using my Stamparatus and the Painted Harvest stamp set which hasn’t had a lot of love recently

Before starting this card I watched the video by Dawn of DoStamping –  where she explains how to make a template to use with the Stamparatus. I used my retired Square dies and Window Sheet to make the template for this particular; I wanted a larger sized wreath.

Making the Christmas Wreath card

I began by placing my Window Sheet template in the corner of my Stamparatus. I placed a 3¾” square of Whisper White cardstock in the negative space at the centre of the template; the square is exactly the same size as the negative space. I placed the solid leaf stamp onto the Whisper White cardstock and picked it up with one of the plates.

Pretty Christmas Wreath made using the Stamparatus and the Painted Harvest stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I inked the stamp with Granny Apple Green ink and stamped it down. I rotated the cardstock one turn within the template and inked up and stamped the leaf image in the same way. I repeated this step by stamping the leaf all the way round the panel.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Next I positioned the more detailed leaf stamp, inked up in Mossy Meadow ink and stamped it around the wreath as before. I stamped the sentiment from the Mistletoe Season stamp set in the centre of the wreath in Real Red ink and added some of the gorgeous new Red Rhinestones to give some colour and shine.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I ran a 5⅝” by 3⅞” panel of Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot with the Layering Leaves embossing folder and added the stamped panel on top with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I wrapped a piece of ⅜” Real Red Cotton Ribbon around the join securing it on the back with Sellotape. The whole panel was then added to a Thick Whisper White card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I added a bow in the same ribbon.

Bokeh Dots and Birds for a sweet thinking of you card. Products by Stampin' Up!

Bokeh Dots and Birds

Today I am sharing a sweet card featuring Bokeh Dots and birds. The card was made using the gorgeous Bokeh Dots stamp set, I used the more ‘starburst effect image’ and the lovely flying birds from the High Tide stamp set.

Making the Bokeh Dots card

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅜” and placed it into the corner of the Stamparatus. The starburst image was stamped in Balmy Blue ink. I then stamped the flying birds in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I repeated this step twice more as I wanted the image to be really dark, love that you can do this on the Stamparatus.

I rounded the upper left corner of the panel with the Detailed Trio Punch and adhered the Whisper White panel to a layer of Blueberry Bushel cardstock 5½” by 3¾” with an identical rounded corner. I wrapped a piece of Blueberry Bushel ⅛” ribbon around both layer and tied it in a simple knot before adhering the whole piece to a Balmy Blue card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I added a Whisper White panel 5⅜” by 3⅝” to the inside of the card and decorated it with the stamped flying birds.

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

Sitting Pretty for a simple thinking of you card

Today I have been making a simple thinking of you card using the Sitting Pretty stamp set and my Stamparatus.

Ink to Block Technique

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

I began by taking a large acrylic block, size E. I added Granny Apple Green ink  by pressing the ink pad directly to the top of the block. I added Balmy Blue ink to the bottom of the block then spritzed the block using a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water: I find 3 – 4 sprays works best. You need the ink to be moving and blending on the block. Turn the block over and place it down on the Thick Whisper White card front and leave for a couple of minutes for the ink to be absorbed onto the card. Lift the block off and dab up any excess water. Set aside to dry.

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

When the card base was dry I placed it into the Stamparatus and held it in position with a magnet. I inked up the gorgeous decorative bench from the Sitting Pretty stamp set with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it down. I repeated this twice more to get a really dark image.

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

I added the sentiment form the Sitting Here stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added some Faceted Dots to finish the card.

Such a simple but effective card and I love the fact that every time you try this background technique you get a different look. Love it! I really hope you like it.

Rows of wine glasses for a feminine birthday card

Half Full for a feminine birthday card

Today I have been playing with the Half Full stamp set. This lovely set carried over from the Autumn/Winter catalogue and although it does have a couple of Christmas sentiments it is so versatile and makes great masculine cards. Having said that today’s card is for a female friend of mine who is partial to the odd glass of white wine.

Stamping Instructions

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4¼” by 2⅞”. I placed the panel in the corner of my Stamparatus Stamp Positioning Tool and positioned stamp showing the ‘row of wine glasses’ onto the Whisper White panel at the top before closing the door plate to pick up the stamp.

Rows of wine glasses for a feminine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Half Full stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Using Momento Tuxedo Black ink I inked up the stamp and closed the door plate to stamp the image. I moved the door plate down 1 hinge, inked the stamp up again and repeated. In total I stamped the image 4 times down the panel. I love the precision stamping you get using the hinge method and the Stamparatus.

I removed the stamped panel of Whisper White from the Stamparatus and coloured in 1 glass in each row using the So Saffron Marker Pen. The panel was then added to a piece of Basic Black cardstock 4½” by 3⅛” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment from the In The City stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black in onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2” by 2” and punched it out using a 1¼” Circle Punch. I added it to a So Saffron circle punched with a 1½” Circle Punch using Tombow Liquid adhesive.

I added a loop of Black Shimmer Ribbon to the back of the sentiment using Fast Fuse Adhesive. The stamped panel was then added to a So Saffron card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the sentiment added in the lower right hand corner

Spring Stamp-a-Stack

Some of my lovely ladies and I spent yesterday crafting away at my Spring Stamp-a-Stack event whilst the sun beat down outside. This time their pack included the fabulous Tutti-Fruitti 6”x6” dsp stack and a pack of Glitter Enamel Dots. This dsp pack is so bright and cheerful……..perfect for those Spring/Summer days. I paired the paper up with some fun and playful stamp sets.
