Swaps for OnStage Telford April 2018

Bubble Over Swaps

I am so excited to be going to OnStage in Telford, UK tomorrow. Looking forward to spending time with my team, catching up with old friends and making new ones and of course SWAPPING!!!! Today I am sharing my swap.

I knew I wanted to use my new Stamparatus and the Bottles and Bubbles dies and Bubble Over stamp set to make my OnStage swaps so began with a scrap panel of Whisper White cardstock.

I started by making a template using a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cutting the large bottle in the middle of the panel using my Big Shot and the Bottles & Bubbles framelit dies. I then die cut a further 64 large bottles from scrap pieces of Whisper White cardstock and set them aside.

I positioned the negative bottle image template onto the Stamparatus on top of the foam panel and inserted the large bottle stamp into the negative space before closing the door to pick up the stamp.

I inserted the die cut bottles, one at a time into the negative space inking up the bottle stamp in Always Artichoke ink (perfect colour for a champagne bottle) and closing the panel to stamp onto the die cut bottle.

I absolutely love this technique and it was so much faster doing it this way. Love it! My Always Artichoke ink pad was quite dry and I don’t have the re-inker so I double stamped the first 3 -4 bottles but the more I stamped the more I liked the aged, vintage look the dry ink pad gave so decided not to double stamp the remaining bottles.

I die cut 65 of the large bottle labels from scrap Whisper White cardstock with the Bottles and Bubbles dies and die cut lots of stars using the Mini Treat Bag dies and scraps of Real Red cardstock. I added a star to the centre of each label with Tombow Liquid Adhesive then added the label with the same glue to the front of each bottle.

I cut 65 panels of Whisper White 4¾” by 3” and rounded the upper right hand corner with my Envelope Punch Board. I placed the panels onto the Stamparatus platform and laid the sentiment stamp from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set – love the font – onto the panel then picked it up with the right hand panel. I inked up the stamp with Real Red ink and stamped onto each panel in turn. Perfectly positioned!

Next, I laid a bottle into position on the stamped Whisper White panel and stamped the stars from the Confetti Celebration stamp set in Real Red ink, I repeated this step on the other panels. The Whisper White layers were then glued to panels of Real Red cardstock 5” by 3¼” also with the upper right hand corner rounded.

I added the die cut bottles on Stampin’ Dimensionals to the stamped panel before adding the whole topper to a Thick Whisper White card base. To finish off I added some Basic Rhinestones to each card.

Cards using Stampin' Up product

Petal Passion Stamp-a-Stack

Saturday saw some of my lovely ladies gathering for another Stamp-a-Stack. This time their pack included the gorgeous black and white Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and a pack of Black Rhinestones. The black and white paper is so versatile: you can colour it with Marker Pens or the new Stampin’ Blends. You can stamp on it or add colour with sponges, daubers or Sponge Brayers.

Birthday card in pink and purple

Happiest of Days for a quick card

The Happiest of Days stamp set is a great set for making quick, simple, stylish cards in a hurry. I used it today for a birthday card and have added a sneak peek of new dsp which will be available from January.

Sweet and simple birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Happiest of Days stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I stamped the image of presents in Archival Basic Gray ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the 2¼” Circle Punch, this was new in the annual catalogue this summer. I coloured in the image using Rich Razzleberry and Pink Pirouette Marker pens and added the sentiment from the Confetti Celebration stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink.

I punched a circle from Pink Pirouette cardstock using the 2½” punch and added it to the back of the Whisper White circle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Using the Banner Triple Punch I flagged the end of a 5½” by 2” piece of dsp from the upcoming Petal Passion 12” by 12” dsp pack and added it to the front of a Rich Razzleberry card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I added the looped Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon onto the piece of dsp, holding it in place with Fast Fuse Adhesive. The topper piece was then added over the top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. After the photos were taken I added a Black Rhinestone to the centre of each of the bows on top of the presents.

A very simple, understated card, Hope you like it.

Confetti Celebration CASE’d

Whilst scrolling through Pinterest last week I came across a card that really attracted me. It was made by Marelle Taylor, an Australian demonstrator, using two of the new in-colours for 2016 – 2018, Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy plus the Confetti Celebration stamp set from the new annual catalogue. I love this colour combination, so strong and bold.

I decided to make the card myself, with a few changes…… I took a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock and added a smaller piece of Whisper White on top, adhering it down lightly with Snail adhesive. With the Dapper Denim ink I stamped the really cute string of baubles onto the Emerald Envy cardstock making sure that a couple of loops crossed the Whisper White piece. I removed the Whisper White piece and continued to stamp the baubles down the Emerald Envy panel.

1-DSCF7864I mounted 3 of the sentiments from the Confetti Celebration set onto a single acrylic block and using the Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy Stampin Write Markers, coloured in the words before stamping them onto the panel of Whisper White. Using the same markers I coloured the baubles on the Whisper White cardstock. I added the Whisper White panel to a piece of Dapper Denim cardstock and added a 3 inch piece of Dapper Denim ruched ribbon to the top of the panel in the centre with a  Mini Glue Dot then added the whole piece to the stamped layer of Emerald Envy using dimensionals. The ribbon was stuck to the back of the Emerald Envy piece using sellotape and the whole topper was attached to a Thick Whisper White card base.

Love how the card turned out, a great masculine option. This would also be a really versatile set for a new crafter. Check out Marelle’s blog for more ideas using this set – http://www.marelletaylor.com
