Cards using Stampin' Up product

Petal Passion Stamp-a-Stack

Saturday saw some of my lovely ladies gathering for another Stamp-a-Stack. This time their pack included the gorgeous black and white Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and a pack of Black Rhinestones. The black and white paper is so versatile: you can colour it with Marker Pens or the new Stampin’ Blends. You can stamp on it or add colour with sponges, daubers or Sponge Brayers.

Dragonfly Dreams Sympathy Card

I have been making a sympathy card for my dear friend Lyndsay who lost her father this week and the beautiful Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit Dies seemed appropriate.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Dragonfly Dreams by Stampin Up

I stamped the gorgeous detailed dragonfly in Night of Navy ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and die cut the dragonfly using the co-ordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit Dies – save 10% if you buy them as a bundle until the end of May. I then die cut the filigree dragonfly from Vellum Cardstock and adhered the vellum piece – using Mini Glue Dots – on top of the stamped dragonfly, love the effect of movement this gives. Even a sympathy card deserves a little bling so I added a couple of Basic Rhinestones to the dragonfly’s thorax.

www.crfty-rootes.com – Dragonfly Dreams by Stampin’ Up!

I cut a panel of the lovely soft blue paper from the Falling In Love dsp pack and glued it to a Very Vanilla panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.  I added ½ a Lace Doily, Very Vanilla side up to the back of this panel, just peeking out. I love that these doilies are Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the reverse. I stamped the sentiment from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Night of Navy ink onto the dsp and added the whole panel to a card base of Night of Navy. The dragonfly was added to the front using Stampin Dimensionals under the thorax to lift it up.

I am really happy with how the card turned out and I hope Lyndsay and her family like it as well.

Vintage Leaves – Watercoloured

The card I am sharing today was inspired by Dena Rekow of The Creativity Cave. She does the most amazing projects and I adored this one. I stripped it back to basics for my version.

I stamped the small leaf for the Vintage Leaves stamp set in Cherry Cobbler, Delightful Dijon, Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green ink onto Stampin’ Up! Watercolour cardstock. I loved this colour combination. As soon as I stamped each colour I went over the image with an Aquapainter filled with a little water. This blurred and intensified the colour of each leaf, gorgeous….

I die cut each of the leaves with the co-ordinating Leaflet Framelit dies. The sentiment, from the Rose Wonder stamp set was stamped in Delightful Dijon ink onto a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock. I spaced the leaves evenly across the card front, adhering the Cherry Cobbler, Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green ones with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The Delightful Dijon leaf was added with Dimensionals to give a bit of lift.

To see Dena’s original card check out her blog – http://www.thecreativitycave.com/my_weblog/2016/09/friday-quickies-techniques-and-tips-faux-watercoloring.html

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, hope you like the project. See you again soon.

Totally Trees – Thinking of You

October hasn’t been a great month for my family. One of my lovely uncles died after a long battle with cancer and the day before his funeral we were told another uncle and his younger son have also been diagnosed with this horrible disease. I wanted to send my uncle and cousin a message of support as they start their chemotherapy journeys.

I had recently seen a YouTube video by Jenny Hall (of jennystampsup.com) using the Painter’s Palette stamp set with the set called Sheltering Tree – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCuv7CyCeho – I decided to CASE (copy and share everything) the card using the Totally Trees stamp set which was still out on my table.

1-dscf8441I stamped the artist’s easel from the Painter’s Palette stamp set using Archival Basic Black ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock. A square of Very Vanilla, exactly the same size as the interior of the easel was die cut using the Layering Squares Framelit dies.

The trees were stamped in Soft Suede ink onto this small Very Vanilla panel. I added the autumnal leaves by stamping the tiny spray of leaves in Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Delightful Dijon inks. I added the ground at the base of the trees using 3rd generation Garden Green ink. The stamped panel was added to the easel using dimensionals.

1-dscf8442The sentiment comes from the Rose Wonder stamp set and was stamped using Archival Basic Black ink below the easel. The whole panel was added to a layer of Basic Black cardstock leaving a ⅛” border, then added to the Crumb Cake card base using Tombow adhesive.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. Hope you like the project I shared and that you will drop by again soon

Bokeh Balloon Celebration for Telford Swaps

Whilst looking through my recent projects, I realized, I have never shared the swaps I made for the Stampin’ Up! Onstage Event in Telford last month. 350 UK demonstrators gathered to celebrate the new catalogue launch, see and play with new product, meet up with old friends and make new ones and craft together.

We also make swaps to share with other demonstrators, always great fun. The guidelines suggest that each demo makes approx. 50 items, you can make as many or as few as you have time for. Common makes are card fronts (not whole cards), bookmarks, boxes, notepads, bags etc… You then swap your item for one made by another demo giving a source of inspiration for the future.  So here are my swaps.

I started by using the 2” circle punch to punch a hole  in a panel of Whisper White cardstock. I used the negative punched piece as a mask, adhering it temporarily to a piece of white cardstock. I sponged the circle with Pool Party ink, and then added patches of Mint Macaron and Island Indigo ink using Sponge Daubers.

When this was dry, I created the Bokeh effect by added circles of Whisper White ink using a sponge dauber. I then left the piece to dry for a couple of hours before removing the mask and stamping the little dandelion clocks from the Balloon Celebration stamp set using Archival Basic Black ink. The sentiment comes from the Rose Wonder Stamp set. I added a sprinkle of glittery circles, punched from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper using the 1/8″ and 1/4″ hand held punches

I mounted the stamped piece onto a panel of either Island Indigo or Mint Macaron card stock. I had to make a couple more as I forgot to photograph them before giving them all away. This one I have mounted onto a Whisper White card base, after rounding the top left corner on all layers.

Rose Wonder and Rose Garden Class

Rose Wonder and Rose Garden Class

Thank you to all the ladies who came to my classes this week. I really enjoyed your company, the chat and the laughs and thankfully you seem to  enjoy making the projects using the beautiful Rose Wonder stamp set and Rose Garden thinlit dies. Happy days…….

These are the projects we made:

1-DSCF7203

The first card we made using a Thick Whisper White card base and a layer of Blackberry Bliss card. We stamped the large rose and the sentiment with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed the image using Gold Embossing Power. The card would look amazing if you left it just as it is but when I was designing the class I decided to take it a step further.

The ladies were a bit surprised when I brought out a bottle of household bleach and handed paintbrushes round but they, like me loved the effect bleach had on the Blackberry Bliss cardstock, it turns a creamy gold colour, so pretty. You do need to apply the bleach very thinly, remember you can always go back and apply more. The embossed piece was then adhered to the card base using dimensional tape.

1-DSCF7204

The second card involved some paper piecing which I loved. We stamped the large rose image with Garden Green ink on Whisper White cardstock then glued the outline of the die cut rose on top of the stamped green rose. I die cut all the roses from Blackberry Bliss or Melon Mambo cardstock ahead of time; it would have taken too long for everyone to do this in the class. The ladies were given either a Blackberry Bliss outline for the rose with Melon Mambo petal pieces or vice versa. They then had the fun of fitting all the pieces together…….. The sentiment was then stamped in Melon Mambo and the stamped piece mounted onto a Melon Mambo or Blackberry Bliss card base.

1-DSCF7205

For the final project we used the Gift Bag Punch Board to make a small bag using Thick Whisper White cardstock. We die cut the smaller rose in the front of the bag and backed the hole with a piece of Window Sheet. We then die cut the small rose from Blackberry Bliss and used the outline to inlay in front of the window, adhering it with tiny dots of Tombow adhesive. The top of the box was tied with thick Blackberry Bliss twine (retired) with a piece of Gold Sequin Trim to add a bit of sparkle. Some of the loose sequins were added as you can never have too much bling.

We really enjoyed putting these projects together. I hope you like them and check back soon to see other projects I have been working on.
