A one sheet wonder made using the baby wipe technique and the Snow Crystal stamp by Stampin' Up! to make 6 cards for the Christmas Stampatho

Snow Crystal one sheet wonder for the Christmas Stampathon

Today I am sharing the cards I made for this months Christmas Stampathon where our theme is ‘Snow & Ice’. I decided to use the large Snow Crystal stamp to make a one sheet wonder using the baby white technique and icy colours.

Colours used to make these cards:

To recreate the snow crystal card, you will need:

6 Card bases – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛” – I chose Pool Party, Blueberry Bushel, Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape – Rounded upper right corner
6 matting layers – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – I chose Pool Party, Blueberry Bushel, Fresh Freesia & Gorgeous Grape – Rounded upper right corner
1½ A4 sheets of Basic White card – after stamping these were cut down to give 6 panels measuring 5¼” by 3½” and rounded the upper right corners
6 Basic White panels – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside – Rounded upper right corner

I began by laying 3 damp baby wipes on a plate, one on top of the other. I then added spots of re-inker to fill the centre of the baby white layers to make a sort of ink pad. I used Pool Party, Blueberry Bushel, Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape & Parakeet Party.

The large snow crystal image was then inked up using the makeshift ink pad and stamped down the length of the 1½ A4 sheets of Basic White card. I twisted the image around so that the colour on the stamp was different each time. I then stamped again from side to side.

The stamped sheets were then cut down into 6 panels each measuring 5¼” by 3½”. I rounded the upper right corner of each panel having decided which were to be portrait and which landscape.

The stamped panels were then glued to the matting layers with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I wrapped a length of Glittered Organdy Ribbon around 5 of the cards – I ran out so used a piece of the silver trim ribbon instead – the ribbon was adhered on the back with Sellotape. The panels were then added to the card bases using the same liquid glue.

I die cut 6 labels using the Something Fancy dies and stamped the sentiment from the Celebrate with Tags stamp set in either Blueberry Bushel or Gorgeous Grape ink onto the labels. These were then added to the card fronts on Dimensionals.

A trio of Noble Rhinestones (retired) were added to the cards after the photos were taken.

Basic White card – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner

I took a damp baby wipe, folded it into a rectangle roughly the size of my image, and placed it in an empty clear stap case. I added drops of Shaded Spruce and Garden Green inks using re-inkers to make an ink palette.

Using the custom-made ink pad, I inked up my chosen image from the Artfully Layered stamp set and stamped it over the inked circle. The decorated panel was glued to the Sahara Sand layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The whole panel was added to the Shaded Spruce card base with Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green ink onto scrap Basic White card and was punched out using the Tailored Tag Punch. I punched the same tag from scrap Sahara Sand card, cut it in half and glued both halves to the stamped tag. The tag was the glued to the card front.

The baby wipe technique used to make a floral get well card

Beautiful Promenade/Baby wipe technique reprised

Here is another card made using the gorgeous Beautiful Promenade stamp set and the same handmade ink pad that I used for the blog hop earlier this week. I couldn’t help but try out another couple of things while the ink was still fresh.

To recreate the Beautiful Promenade card

Crumb Cake card base – 8½” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Gorgeous Grape 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Very Vanilla 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – 1 for the inside and 1 for the outside – rounded upper left corners
Scrap Very Vanilla
Scrap Granny Apple Green

I made my own ink pad by folding a single baby wipe into a square and placing it in an empty clear mount stamp case. I took the Daffodil Delight re-inker and dropped about 12 – 15 drops randomly onto the baby wipe. I repeated this with the Poppy Parade re-inker and finally with Gorgeous Grape re-inker. The dots of ink should spread and merge together with no un-inked areas.

www.crafty-rootes.com -Beautiful Promenade stamp set and the baby wipe technique part 2

I stamped the outline of the flowers in Poppy Parade ink and Gorgeous Grape ink onto the scrap Very Vanilla cardstock.  I inked up the stripey inner portion of the flower on my homemade ink pad and stamped to fill in each flower. The flowers were then die cut using the Beautiful Layers dies and my Big Shot. Using the Leaf Punch I punched some leaves from the Granny Apple Green scrap cardstock.

The flowers were placed on one of the Very Vanilla panels and the leaves were tucked  behind the flowers with a dab of Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The flowers were then added over the top on Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Well Said stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink onto the panel but messed it up and ended up stamping it on a scrap of Very Vanilla and gluing it over the top of the mess. Don’t you hate it when you do that!!!

The decorated panel was then added to the Gorgeous Grape panel with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive then glued to the Crumb Cake card base. I added a trio of the Glitter Enamel Dots to complete the card front.

I had an extra stamped and die cut flower which I cut in half and added one half to the inner Very Vanilla panel and the other half to the Very Vanilla envelope.

I really love this technique. Hope you like the card.

Gorgeous Grape cardstock 5½” by 3 ¾”
Very Vanilla cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Vellum 6” by 1½”

I have hardly used this gorgeous stamp set, I am so glad it is carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue. I wanted to try out the baby wipe technique and thought this set might work well with the technique.

I inked the outline flower stamp on my hand made ink pad and randomly stamped the image onto the Very Vanilla panel. I loved the effect of the multicolour flowers. The stamped layer was then added to the Gorgeous Grape panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I wrapped the strip of Vellum around the stamped panel and adhered it on the back with Sellotape. The whole piece was then glued to the Poppy Parade card front.

I die cut the word ‘birthday’ 3 times from scrap Gorgeous Grape cardstock and adhered the words one on top of the other using Multipurpose liquid Adhesive, this gives great dimension to the word.

I swiped the  Embossing Buddy over the vellum then stamped the word ‘wishes’ in Poppy Parade ink covered it with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool. The die cut ‘birthday’ was added on top with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I used a Mini Glue Dot tucked under the ‘birthday’ to hold the vellum layer down.

I love, love this card, hoping you like it as well.

Please hop on to see what Annette has to share with us.
