Nailed It for May classes

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who attended my classes last week and used the Nailed it stamp set and co-ordinating Build It framelits to make some lovely masculine style cards. I chose this set with the upcoming Father’s day in June in mind but you could also use it for ladies who like a bit of DIY, maybe pairing it with brighter colours.

The first card we made had a Very Vanilla card base. We used the bolt and screw stamps from the Nailed It stamp set to stamp a border down the right had side of the card front using Archival Basic Gray and Delightful Dijon ink. We embossed a panel of Very Vanilla using the fab Hexagon Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder and then had a discussion about whether to use the front or back as both sides are gorgeous. We stamped the sentiment from the Nailed It stamp set in Archival Basic Back ink. We stamped the handle of the hammer using Archival Basic Gray onto Very Vanilla cardstock, coloured it in using the Delightful Dijon marker and used the Big Shot and the Build It framelits to die cut the stamped handle. At the same time we die cut the head of the hammer and the spanner using Silver Foil cardstock and adhered the handle to the head of the hammer using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. A strip of paper from the Urban Underground dsp pack was added on the left side of the card front before we added the embossed panel on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment was placed on the front of the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the hammer and spanner tucked in behind. We added a couple of bolts and screws die cut from Silver Foil cardstock to finish.

The second card started with a Basic Black card base. We added a strip of Washi Tape to the top leaving a ¼” gap. On a Very Vanilla panel we added 2 banners made from Urban Underground dsp, the ends were flagged using the Banner Triple Punch. We stamped 2 screwdrivers from the Nailed It stamp set and die cut them using the Build It Framelits, we also die cut the shaft of one screwdriver from the Silver Foil cardstock and stuck it onto the handle of one of the screwdrivers. The sentiment from the Badges and Banners stamp set was stamped in Delightful Dijon ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and punched out using the Badge Punch. As before the tools were tucked behind the sentiment on the card front and bolts and screws were added for decoration.

Lastly we made a gift card using Very Vanilla cardstock 5⅞” by 4⅛” and scored on the long side at 3”and 6” using the scoring blade on the Stampin’ Trimmer. We then inserted the short side, with the 1⅞” panel at the top into the Envelope Punch Board and punched at 3”. We then trimmed off the excess piece to give a tab. We decorated it using tools from the Nailed It stamp set and a panel embossed using the Hexagon Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.

  1. Is the size stated of the Very Vanilla the finished size? This is a very nice masculine card and I hope to use it soon

    • Hi Barbara, I am so glad you like the card. I am in the UK so finished card sizes are 5⅞” by 4⅛” or 1/2 a standard sheet of A4 cardstock. The finished gift card size is 5⅞” by 3″. Hope this helps. Mo x
