Sailing Home for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop

Thank you for joining me for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop where our theme this month is ‘Masculine cards’. If you have joined me from the lovely …….. welcome, my name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. Like many others I find making cards for the men in my life a bit of a challenge and I am really looking forward to seeing what my fellow blog hoppers have to share with us.

To recreate the Sailing Home card you will need;

Seaside Spray card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛”
Seaside Spray cardstock 5½” by 3¾”
Whisper White cardstock 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
Whisper White cardstock 5” by 3”
Night of Navy cardstock 3½” by ½” x 2
Scrap Whisper White

I ran the panel of Seaside Spray cardstock through my Big Shot with the Subtles Embossing folder to give it a little texture before adhering the panel to Seaside Spray card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I cut a label using the Stitched Nested Label dies and stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy towards the bottom. The smaller boat was then stamped twice in the Night of Navy ink.

The larger boat was stamped in the same ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the Smooth Sailing dies and coloured using the Seaside Spray combo, light Balmy Blue & light Night of Navy Blends Markers.

Using the 1” Circle Punch I punched circle from a PostIt Note and stuck it to the top of the stitched label. I sponged on some Blamy Blue ink using a Sponge Dauber then removed the punched circle and added some So Saffron ink again using a Sponge Dauber.

I added the 2 strips of Night of Navy cardstock to the card front having flagged the ends. The Stitched Label was then added over the top using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the lager boat added on Dimensionals.

I stamped the larger boat in Night of Navy ink onto the Whisper White panel and added it to the inside of the card. The same image was stamped onto the front of the envelope.

Please continue to hop on and see what the lovely Deb Naylor has to share with us.

We stamped and die cut the boat, coloured it in using the Stampin Blends Markers. The sentiment and small birds were then stamped on the Whisper White Circle and the boat added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

We stamped the compass and anchor randomly down the strip of Whisper White in Coastal Cabana and Early Espreeso inks. The thin strip of Early Espresso was added to the left side and the panel added to the card front with glue. The circle piece was then added on Dimensionals.

We stamped the lighthouse in Early Espresso ink onto the Whisper White rectangle and coloured it using the Crumb Cake light and Smoky Slate light Stampin Blends markers. The birds were then added and the stamped panel added to the Early Espresso Rectangle.

One of the birds from the Hugs from Shelli paper pumpkin kit was randomly stamped in Early Espresso down the Pool Party layer. The bodies of the birds were then painted using Frost White Shimmer paint to give a pearlescent look to the birds. The group of little birds then filled in any large gaps. This piece was then glued to the Card front.

We die cut the rope from the thin piece of Early Espresso card stock, cut it in half and added a piece at the top and the remainder at the bottom, butted up against the stamped piece.

The sentiment was stamped then punched out using the Everyday Label punch and backed onto a punched out piece of Coastal Cabana. The sentiment was then added to the back of the stitched rectangles and the whole piece added to the card front on Dimensionals.

We really enjoyed making these cards. I hope you like them.

A Lighthouse at High Tide

Today I am sharing the birthday card made for my lovely son. He loves the sea so the Lighthouse from the High Tide stamp set was perfect for his card.

Making the High Tide card

A lighthouse at High Tide for a lovely seaside themed masculine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – A masculine birthday card featuring the High Tide stamp set

I began by taking a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅛ by 2” and stamping the ‘ground’ image in 1st and 2nd generation Sahara Sand ink. I then placed the piece of cardstock in my Stamparatus as I find the lighthouse images much easier to line up using this stamping tool. The lighthouse was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and Real Red ink.

The tufts of grass were then added in Mossy Meadow ink and the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The stamped panel was added to a layer of Blueberry Bushel cardstock measuring 4⅛” by 2⅛”.

Next I stamped the ‘water’ image from the High Tide stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink onto a Balmy Blue card base. I added more birds using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I stamped the boats from the Lilypad Lake stamp set onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut them using the Lakeside framelit dies and the Big Shot. The boats were then coloured using Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, Real Red and Crumb Cake markers.

The Lighthouse panel was added to the Balmy Blue card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the boats were then added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The ‘water’ image was then stamped on a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” and a trio of boats were added. This panel was then glued inside the card with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The same images were stamped on the front of a Whisper White envelope.

I really, really like this card and I hope my son like sit as well.

Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

Lilypad Lake for a special birthday

Today I am sharing the card I made for my brother in law’s special birthday. When he and my husband were young men they had a boat and loved to sail so the Lilypad Lake set was perfect for this special card.

Making the card

I started with 2 pieces of Thick Whisper White cardstock, one measuring 11” by 5½” and the other measuring 9¼” by 4¼”.  Using my paper trimmer I scored both pieces at 2 ¾” and 5 ½”. I cut 3 panels of Twinkle Twinkle dsp, one at 5¼” by 5¼” and 2 at 5¼” by 2 ½” and glued these to the larger of the Thick Whisper White card base.

Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

I rounded 2 double corners of the smaller Thick Whisper White panel with the Decorative Trio Punch. I then added panels of Poppy Parade cardstock one measuring 3⅞” by 3⅜” and two measuring 3⅞” by 2½” having rounded the same corners.

Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

I cut a panel of Whisper White cardstock 3¾” by 3¼” and stamped the ‘waves’ in Balmy Blue, 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation then over the top with Blueberry Bushel ink. I used Daffodil Delight and a sponge dauber to add the ‘sun’. Taking some scrap Whisper White cardstock I stamped the 3 boats twice in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut them using the Big Shot and the Lakeside Framelits. These were coloured in using the Blueberry Bushel, Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade markers and added to the stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I die cut a few clouds from the Up & Away framelits die set and sponged the edges with Balmy Blue ink before glueing to the panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This panel was then added to the larger Poppy parade panel.

I cut two panels of Whisper White measuring 2 ¾” by 2⅜”. I stamped the same ‘waves’  at the bottom of one of the panels and added the ‘reeds’ which were die cut from Granny Apple Green cardstock using the Lakeside framelits.

Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lilypad Lake makes a special double Z fold birthday card

I stamped the numbers from the retired Number of Years stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink and die cut them using the Big Shot and the large Number Dies before adding to the remaining Poppy Parade panel on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The words from the same stamp set were stamped in Poppy Parade ink.

I am really happy with how this card turned out. I hope Rob likes it.
