The Botanical Layers stamp set by Stampin Up! used to make a trio of striped botanical cards

A Trio of Striped Botanical cards

Here are a trio of striped botanical cards inspired by cards made by Dena Rekow of the Creativity Cave. I love the look of this technique and wanted to use it to make an anniversary card for my husband.

Colours in these cards are:

To recreate these cards, you will need:

3 card bases – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner – I used Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party & Fresh Freesia
3 Basic Black card – 5⅛” by 3⅜” – rounded upper left corners
3 Basic White card – 5” by 3¼” – rounded upper left corners
3 coloured panels – 5” by 3¼” – rounded upper left corners – I used Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party & Fresh Freesia
3 Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corners

I used a Stamparatus to stamp the image from the Botanical layers stamp set, any stamp positioner would work. The 3 panels of 5” by 3¼” Basic White card and the coloured panels of the same size were mounted on the platform, one at a time and the image stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on each layer.

The coloured panels were then cut down in ½” increments starting at the bottom. The first ½” piece was discarded and the 3 other ½” strip in each colour were put to one side.

Taking one of the ½” strips from each colour, I lined them up on the stamped Basic White panels making sure that the pattern matched and glued them in place. This was repeated for all three panels.

The sentiments were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the panels all glued to the Basic Black layers. These were then mounted onto the card bases on Dimensionals.

To recreate the botanical layers card, you will need:

Crumb cake card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Gorgeous Grape card – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 5¼” by 3½” – rounded upper left corner
Gorgeous Grape card – 4⅛” by ¼” x 2
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner

I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner of the smaller Basic White panel in Gorgeous Grape ink.

Using Masking Paper, I masked off 1½” from the bottom of the same panel.

The largest leafy sprig was inked up with Fresh Freesia ink, stamped off and stamped onto the panel. I repeated this step 3 or 4 times to provide a base.

I added the delicate, feathery sprig in Crumb Cake ink and finally added the bolder leafy image in Gorgeous Grape ink. I absolutely love this colour combo. I removed the Masking Paper.

A length of Natural Finish Ribbon was wrapped around the panel to disguise the messy edge. I added the strips of Gorgeous Grape card on top of the ribbon, folding the edges around to the back securing them with Sellotape.

A trio of Pastel Pearls completed the card. I love it.

A beautiful blue botanical card made using the Botanical Layers stamp set and 2022 - 2024 In Color dsp from Stampin' Up!

Blue Botanicals card

Today, I have been playing with the pretty Botanical Layers stamp set and the 2022 – 2024 In Color dsp and have made a sweet blue botanicals card.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the blue botanical card, you will need:

Thick Basic White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
2022 – 2024 In Color dsp – 5⅝” by 3⅞” – rounded upper left corner
Gray Granite card – 4⅜” by 2 ½” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 4¼” by 2⅜” – rounded upper left corner
Scrap Basic White card

I used Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to glue the piece of dsp to the Thick Basic White card base.

The plant image was stamped in Starry Sky ink onto the small panel of Basic White and I added some of the smaller circular dotty images in the same ink.

The stamped panel was then adhered to the Gray Granite layer with the same liquid glue. The panel was then mounted onto the card front using Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in the same Starry Sky ink onto scrap Basic White card and die cut using one of the Beautiful Shapes Dies. I love the embossed edge that this die added.

The sentiment was then added, with glue on the left and a Dimensional on the right to the card front.

Using a Starry Sky Blends Pen, I coloured in a trio of Basic Pearls and added these and a double bow made using the 2022 – 2024 In Colour Twine to complete the card.

I hope you like it.
