Festive jolly Santa jumper card

Christmas Sweaters featuring a Jolly Santa

I saw a fantastic video on Youtube recently by Brandy Cox, a fab American demonstrator, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOn6qnSxLpg showing some cards she had made using the quirky Christmas Sweaters stamp set. I loved them all but my favourite was the Santa jumper. Here is my take on it.

Seasonal sweater featuring Santa

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Sweater by Stampin’ Up!

I stamped the jumper using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it out using the Stitched Shapes framelits and the Big Shot. I coloured the jumper in using an Old Olive marker, the hat with the Real Red Marker, Santa’s face with the Pink Pirouette Marker, Santa’s glasses with the Sahara Sand Marker and the ribbed area around the neck, cuffs and bottom of the jumper with the Soft Sky Marker.

I followed Brandy’s tip and covered the beard, moustache, eyebrows, rim of the hat and the pompom in Tombow Liquid Adhesive and spread it around using a cotton bud taking care to stay away from the stamped black edge. I then covered the image with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and it looked fabulous, so sparkly. I added this piece to a scalloped square which had been die cut using the Layering Squares dies and Old Olive cardstock.

I took a layer of Real Red cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Winter Wonder embossing folder on the right hand side of the panel. I really love the effect this gives. I stamped the sentiment from the Merry Patterns stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Everyday Label punch. I punched again using a scrap of Old Olive cardstock and mounted the stamped piece on top and slightly offset so that the colour peeked out the bottom.

I added the sentiment to the lower left hand corner of the Real Red panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive and added the Santa sweater image over the top using Stampin Dimensionals. The whole panel was then added to a Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow.

I love how sparkly and festive this card is, love it. Thanks for the inspiration Brandy.

3 cards for a class using Painted Harvest stamp set

Painted Harvest Classes – 3 beautiful projects

Painted Harvest Class – Thank you to all the lovely ladies who came to classes this week, we had a ball using the Painted Harvest stamp set to make 3 beautiful projects

Autumnal thank you card using Painted harvest Stamp set

www.carfty-rootes.com – Painted Harvest by Stampin’ Up!

The first card was very simple and started with us randomly stamping the ‘solid flower image’ in Crushed Curry ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. We added the more ‘detailed flower’ image over the top of the first image in Cajun Craze ink, love how the 2 step stamping brings the flower to life.

We then stamped the sentiment from the Banners for You stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink and at this point we decided whether we were doing a landscape or portrait version of the card. We then stamped the ‘flower centre’ using Chocolate Chip ink and filled in the white spaces using the ‘fern like leaf image’ and Pear Pizzazz ink.

We wrapped a piece of ⅛” Copper Trim around the stamped piece and tied it in a bow………..always a challenge….. We added a thin strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock along one edge with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and added the whole panel using the same glue to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base. To finish off we stamped the flower again on the inside of the card and the front of the envelope.

Sunflowers in Autumnal colours

With the 2nd card we started by embossing a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder and the Big Shot. We added the embossed panel to a slightly larger piece of Crushed Curry cardstock using Tombow Liquid Adhesive and used the same glue to adhere the panel to a Cajun Craze card base.

We stamped the flower in exactly the same way as for the first card onto a scrap of Whisper White and die cut it using a circle die from the Stitched Shapes framelits. We also die cut a slightly larger scalloped circle from Cajun Craze cardstock using one of the Layering Circle dies. We then glued the 2 circles together with Tombow.

We stamped one of the leaf images in Always Artichoke ink onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock and punched them out using the Leaf Punch. These were added to the back of the Cajun Craze scalloped circle with Tombow.

We stamped the banner and the sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set using Chocolate Chip ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched the banner out using the Duet Banner punch. This was added to the front of the stamped piece using Tombow. We added the whole piece to the embossed panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Again to finish we stamped the flower onto the envelope and onto a layer of Whisper White cardstock which we added to the inside of the card using Tombow.

Gorgeous Painted Harvest Christmas cards

The 3rd card was a CHRISTMAS card……..I know, couldn’t resist sneaking one in. I got the idea for this card from Pinterest but I haven’t been able to identify who originally came up with the idea but I have put my own spin on it.

We stamped the ‘solid flower image’ randomly in Pear Pizzazz ink onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock and added the panel to a Thick Whisper White card base. We then stamped the solid flower onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Pear Pizzazz ink. We stamped the detailed layer in Always Artichoke ink and added the ‘berries’ in Cajun Craze ink. We stamped the sentiment from the Star of Light stamp set in Cajun Craze ink and then flagged the end of the Whisper White piece using scissors. We added some Gold Glimmer paper behind and sneakily we used a short piece, cut into two and stuck on at the top and the bottom with Tear & Tape….. no- one will ever know……..

We added the whole panel to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a bow made from the ⅛” Copper Trim with a Mini Glue Dot before decorating the inside of the card and the envelope.

I hope you like the projects as much as the ladies did.

Night In Bethlehem given a fun fold

Christmas fun fold card using Night in Bethlehem stamp set and co-ordinating dies.

Loving my first play with the new Night In Bethlehem stamp set and co-ordinating Bethlehem Edgelit dies. This set is going to be so much fun to use, lots of fab ideas buzzing around in my head.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Night In Bethlehem stamp set and Bethlehem Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

I decided to make a Flip Corner Card to show off this stamp set and started with a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock 8¼” by 5⅞”. I scored and folded at 4⅛” then insert the front of the card base into your Paper Trimmer, short side at the top and line up on the left hand side at 7.5cm. Lift up the clear cutting guard and bring the cutting blade down to 7.5cm. Lower the blade and cut upwards, stopping at 1.5cm.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Night In Bethlehem stamp set and Bethlehem Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

Rotate the cardstock 90° clockwise then flip the card so the inside is uppermost and the cut line is on the left hand panel. Line the left hand edge up with the 7.5cm mark and the cutting blade at 7.5cm and cut upwards stopping at 1.5cm.

Line both the 1.5cm points up with the cutting groove and score from the edge of the cardstock to the 1.5cm point on both sides. Gently fold on these score lines. The ‘square’ should now be flipped over in front. Glue in place with Tombow Liquid adhesive.

Next I die cut the squares using the Layering Squares Framelit Dies as follows: the 2nd largest from Gold Foil cardstock, the 3rd largest from Basic Black cardstock and the 4th largest from Whisper White cardstock. I die cut the star from the Bethlehem Edgelit dies from the centre of the gold foil square.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Night In Bethlehem stamp set with Bethlehem Edgelit dies

I stamped the row of buildings in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Sahara Sand ink onto the small Whisper White square and along the bottom of the card front with the 1st generation Sahara Sand ink. I then adhered the Whisper White square to the Basic Black square and then onto the Gold Foil square using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I added the die cut Gold Foil star to the upper right hand corner of the stamped panel.

Before adding the layered squares to the flipped corner I adhered the 5” by ⅛” strip across the diagonal folded edge with Tombow, and then trimmed off the overhanging pieces. I just felt that the fold needed some definition.  The square topper was then added to the flipped over square using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the ‘Mary and Joseph’ using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap Sahara Sand cardstock and die cut before adding to the bottom left hand corner of the card front using Tombow.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Night In Bethlehem stamp set and Bethlehem Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

The ‘shepherd’ image was stamped onto the lower right hand corner of a Whisper White 5½” by 3¾” panel using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and this panel was then adhered to a layer of Basic Black 5¾” by 4” using Tombow and added to the inside of the card.

Again using Momento Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the ‘Mary and Joseph’ image onto the front of a Whisper White envelope.

I was really happy with the look of this card. Hope you like it.
