A pretty New Year card made for the New Year Blog Hop using the lovely Light in the Sky stamp set by Stampin' Up! and an emboss resist technique

Fireworks New Year card for the New Years Celebrations Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the New Year Celebrations Blog Hop where we are celebrating…….. you’ve got it, the new year. I love to see the fireworks on New Years Eve and have used the Light the Sky stamp set and some embossing to make colourful fireworkd card.

Colours used in this card are:

To recreate the fireworks card, you will need:

Thick Basic White card – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Berry Burst card – 5⅝” by 3⅜”
Starry Sky card – 5½” by 3¼”
Scrap Starry Sky card

Using a Blending Brush I added Starry Sky ink around all four sides of the card, leaving the centre un-inked. Using the same Blending Brush I added Night of Navy ink in all 4 corners of the card. I then set the card aside to dry.

When the panel was dry I stamped three of the firework images a number of times in Versamark ink. I covered it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

Using the following Blends Pens I coloured over the White Embossing – Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Berry Burst, and Pretty Peacock.

I stamped the sentiment onto the panel – it was squint……… don’t you hate it when that happens. So I stamped it again in Versamark ink onto scrap Starry Sky card, I embossed it with White Embossing Powder and die cut it using the Stylish Shapes Dies

I rolled the edges in Whisper White ink to give some separation and added it, over the squint attempt using Black Dimensionals. The whole piece was glued to the Berry Burst panel and then to the Thick Basic White card front.

Joseph's Coat Technique used to make a Fireworks at New Year card for the Hopping Around the World Blog Hop

Fireworks at New Year

Hello and welcome to the Hopping Around the World Blog Hop where our theme is ‘New Year’s Eve Party’, I have used the gorgeous Beauty Abounds stamp set and the Joseph’s Coat technique to suggest a night sky lit up with fireworks at New Year.

To recreate the Fireworks at New Year card, you will need:

Basic Black card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Daffodil Delight – 5½“ by 3¾”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 3

I used daubers to cover one of the Whisper White panels with splotches of colour using the Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Pacific Point and Just Jade ink pads.

Next, I randomly stamped the larger bokeh dot image from the Beauty Abounds stamp set across the same panel, rotating the stamp each time. I then covered the panel with Clear Embossing Powder. The embossing powder was the heat et using my Heat Tool.

I then used my Memento Tuxedo Black inkpad to swipe across the embossed panel until the whole piece was covered with a heavy layer of black ink………and yes, I did get really, really messy…… Taking a small, damp cloth I wiped each or the embossed images clean of black ink revealing the gorgeous vibrant colours underneath.

Using the Playful Alphabet Dies I die cut the word HAPPY and the numbers 2021 from Foam Adhesive Sheet. Using washi tape to hold the letters together I die cut the word HAPPY and the year 2021 from the embossed and inked panel.

Each letter or number was then stuck to its foam counterpart. The embossed panel was adhered using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to another of the Whisper White panel. Using a Basic Black Marker I inked around the edges of the panel – in hind sight I would have been better to have used a Basic Black Panel – before adhering it to the Daffodil Delight layer with the liquid glue.

The die cut letters were then placed back in the negative spaces and the embossed patched painted with Clear Wink of Stella and voila, the card was finished.

A pretty Hogmany card featuring fireworks and tartan paper all by Stampin' Up!

New Year card for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop

Welcome to the December Stamper’s Showcase blog hop where our theme this month is ‘It’s time to Celebrate’. My name is Mo Rootes and I am from Cambridge in the UK and I very much hope you will vist all the other talented blog hoppers this month.

I have chosen to make a card to celebrate the New Year and as a proud Scot I couldn’t resist adding some tartan for Hogmany.

To recreate the It’s Time to Celebrate card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Wrapped in Plaid dsp – 5⅞” by 4⅛”
Whisper White – 4⅛” by 2⅞”
Gold Foil – 4⅛” by ¼” x 2
Whisper White – 4⅛” by ¼” x 2
Whisper White scrap

I inked up the dandelion image in Versamark ink and stamped it twice on the strip of Whisper White card stock – having first used the embossing buddy to remove static, covered it Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I used Sponge Daubers to add Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Crushed Curry ink to the ‘fireworks’ and then added the blue night sky using Night of Navy ink.

Using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive I glued a strip of Gold Foil to the top and bottom of the embossed panel. I then added the thin strips of Whisper White to the top and bottom.

I adhered the panel of Designer Series Paper (dsp) to the front of the Thick Whisper White card base and added the embossed panel to the card front on dimensionals.

I used the Night of Navy Marker Pen to ink up part of the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set and stamped it on scrap Whisper White card stock before trimming it out using scissors.

I stamped and embossed the ‘fireworks’ on the inside of the card and on the front of the envelope. Please hop on to see what Wendy Lee has to share with us this month
