Basic White – 5” by 3¼” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper left corner

The large butterfly image was stuck on the plate of my Stamparatus. I inked it up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped onto the smallest piece of Basic White card. I like to use the Stamparatus so that I can stamp the image multiple times to get a really dark impression.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Snowy Mountain for the Ink. Stamp. Share. Blog Hop

Welcome to the Ink. Stamp. Share Blog Hop. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK and I am thrilled to be joining the super talented team on this blog hop. Our theme today is ‘Showcasing a project we have been working on’. I have chosen to share a piece of home décor with you; a picture of a snowy mountain scene. I hope you like it.

To recreate the Snowy Mountain picture you will need:

Whisper White card – 8” by 6”
Misty Moonlight card – 8* by 6”
Picture frame for a 7” by 5” photograph

If you have been following my blog you will know that the Mountain Air stamp set is a real favourite of mine and today I have combined it with the In The Pines Stamp set and the sweet cabin from the Snow Front stamp set to create this wintery scene.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I began with the piece of Whisper White card which I lined up on my Grid Paper. With a T Square Ruler and a pencil I marked out ½” on all 4 sides to form a border. This border will be covered by the mount.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I inked up the detailed mountain image from the Mountain Air stamp set with Seaside Spray ink and stamped the image across the panel. I reversed the stamp, inked up the back with the same colour, stamped off on my Grid Paper and stamped the 2nd generation, offset, over the mountains.

The row of trees were stamped below the mountains in Shaded Spruce ink. I punched a 1” circle from a Post It note and applied it over the mountains. Using a  blending brush – you could also use a sponge or a sponge dauber instead – and circular movements I appled Balmy Blue ink across the top of the panel to  give the effect of a sky. The circle mask was then removed.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I roughly tore a piece to copy paper to give a wavy edge. Using the blending brush and Pool Party ink I moved around the torn copy paper to give the effect of snow banks.

Placing the copy paper back in position I stamped the sweet cabin from the Snow Front stamp set in Basic Gray ink. I added the ‘path’ image in 2nd generation Basic Gray ink.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I added the row of trees from the In the Pines stamp set in the same way using Early Espresso ink. I added the in-fill stamp in Shaded Spruce ink. The large tree on the left was stamped in Early Espresso and Shaded Spruce.

Using my Paper Trimmer I cut out the middle of the Misty Moonlight panel leaving a 3/4£” border all the way around. This will be the mount for the picture.

I used a simple white photo frame to show off this simple picture.

Lovely As a Tree – retiring!

Today I am sharing a card made for the latest team challenge – the theme is the retiring list. It will come as no surprise to those of you who know me that I have chosen the Lovely As A Tree stamp set. This was the first stamp set I bought and I have used it many, many times.

To Recreate the Lovely As a tree card you will need;

Lovely Lipstick card base – rounded upper right corner
Basic Black 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Wood Textures dsp 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” – for the inside – rounded upper right corner
Basic Black – 1⅛” by ¼”
Wood Textures dsp 6” by ¼” x 2

I masked off an area of the Wood Textures dsp using Postit Notes. I opened the Daffodil Delight ink pad and pressed it onto a clear block and added a drop of glycerine. I mixed the ink and the glycerine together with a Sponge Dauber; I find the ink goes onto the paper much more smoothly with the addition of the glycerine.

Starting off the dsp I sponged the ink onto the masked off area and repeated the same steps with the Grapefruit Grove ink and the Lovely Lipstick ink. I overlapped the inks to help with the blending.

I love peeling away the Postit’s and revealing the inked area – always a real WOW.

I used the Stamparatus to stamp the gorgeous ‘pine tree’ from the Lovely As A Tree Stamp set. I knew I wanted a really dark image and it is much easier to achieve this with the Stamparatus as you can re-stamp the image as often as you need to.

The stamped layer was then added to the Basic Black panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greeting stamp set was stamped in Versamark onto the strip of Basic Black cardstock, covered it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool. The strip was glued to the stamped panel with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the over-hanging edges trimmed off.

The whole panel was added to the Lovely Lipstick card base on Dimensionals.

I added a Linen Thread bow to the card front with a Mini Glue Dot and finished off with a scattering of Iridescent Sequins.

I glued a strip of the Wood Texture dsp to the inside panel and to the front of the envelope.

Love the inked effect on the Wood Textures dsp, I hope you like it.
