Glass of Milkshake for the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop where we are sharing projects showcasing the ‘Kissing Technique’. I have used the pretty Share a Milkshake stamp set and dies to make my card.

Colours used in this card are:

To recreate the glass of milkshake card, you will need:

Sweet Sorbet card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Soft Suede card – 3⅞” by 2½” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 3¾” by 2⅜” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 2” by ¾”
Scrap Basic White card

Using Sweet Sorbet ink, I stamped the floral image from the Blessings of Home stamp set around the edge of the Sweet Sorbet card front and set it to one side.

The trio of hearts were stamped in Sweet Sorbet ink onto the smaller panel of Basic White card and then glued to the Soft Suede layer. Tis was then glued to the card front.

I inked up the solid milkshake glass in Pale Papaya ink and set it down with the inked side uppermost. I then inked the floral image in Sweet Sorbet ink and stamped it down onto the inked surface of the milkshake image. The floral image transfers onto the milkshake glass, so cool. I stamped it down onto scrap Basic White card and die cut it out using the Share a Milkshake Dies. I added it to the card front on Dimensionals.

The ice-cream was stamped in Soft Suede ink and die cut with the same set of dies. The straw was stamped in Sweet Sorbet ink and die cut. The straw was tucked into the slit in the die cut ice-cream and the piece was added on Dimensionals.

The Colorful Seasons and Crackle Paint stamp sets used for a kissing technique card

Kissing Technique – Colorful Seasons

Every 2 weeks someone in the team writes a tutorial for our team facebook page and this time it is my turn, Today I am sharing the card I made using the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the Kissing Technique.

To re-create the kissing technique card you will need ;

Petal Pink card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded at 4⅛” – upper left hand corner rounded
Blackberry Bliss 5⅞” by 2¼”
Whisper White 5⅞ by 2
Whisper White 5⅝” by 3⅞” – for the inside
Blackberry Bliss 2½” by ⅞”
Whisper White 2½” by ¾”
C6 Whisper White Envelope

I began by inking up the large Crackle Paint stamp with Blackberry Bliss ink. I find it easier to do this if I place the stamp face up on my work top and take the ink to the stamp rather than the stamp to the ink.

I then inked up the solid maple leaf image with Petal Pink ink and carefully ’kissed’ the 2 stamps together picking up some of the Blackberry Bliss onto the Petal Pink image. I stamped the leaf image onto the long strip of Whisper White cardstock.

I repeated these steps until the whole Whisper White strip was covered.

I used the Decorative Ribbon Border punch to decorate the right hand edge of the larger Blackberry Bliss layer and glued it to the back of the stamped panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

This panel was then added to the front of a Petal Pink card base using the same adhesive.

The sentiment from the Beach Happy stamp set was stamped in Blackberry Bliss onto the smallest Whisper White piece of cardstock. This was then adhered with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the small Blackberry Bliss piece and the end was bannered using sharp scissors. The piece was then added to the card front with the same adhesive.

I stamped the same maple leaf image, inked up in the same way, to the largest Whisper White panel and adhered it to the inside of the card base using the liquid glue.

The same image was then stamped onto the front of a Whisper White envelope.

The front of the card was decorated using the Faceted Dots.

This technique works with most solid image stamps paired with a more detailed stamp. It works best if the solid image is inked up with a lighter colour and the more detailed image with a darker colour. I love the effect this gives and you can get some very quirky images. I hope you like the card.

Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic stamp sets by Stampin' Up used for the Kissing Technique

Watercolor Wings meets the ‘Kissing Technique’

Today I have been using a couple of our retiring stamp sets Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic, both fabulous, versatile sets.

Kissing Technique

I inked up the large ‘solid butterfly’ image from the Watercolor Wings stamp set in So Saffron ink and inked up the large ‘foliage’ stamp from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set before bringing them together so that the detailed foliage was stamped onto the solid butterfly. This is known as the ‘kissing technique’. Such a striking effect.

I then stamped the solid butterfly onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock which I then die cut using the Bold Butterfly dies and my Big Shot. I stamped the butterfly ‘body’ onto the die cut piece in Real Red ink. I find it easier to line up after I die cut rather than stamping it before die cutting.

I place a panel of  Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” onto the front of a Thick Whisper White card base. I then inked up the foliage image from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set again with the So Saffron ink then rolled the edge around in the Real Red ink to give a two toned look. I stamped the image in the bottom right hand corner and the top left hand corner over lapping the edge of the smaller Whisper White panel.

This panel was then added to a Real Red layer, 5½” by 3¾” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I laid the die cut butterfly in position and stamped the antennae in So Saffron ink and the spotty trail in So Saffron ink and Real Red ink. The sentiment was stamped in Real Red ink in the lower left hand corner. The whole panel was then added to the Thick Whisper White card base. Finally, the butterfly was added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This is such a striking technique, why don’t you give it a try.
