The Trees For Sale stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make a simple tree Christmas card for the Stamp 'n Hop #simplestamping Blog Hop

Simple Tree for the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where we are sharing simple projects featuring stamps, ink and paper with the possible addition of a punch and ribbon. I have pared my project right back and made a simple tree themed card using the Trees for Sale stamp set.

The colours used in this project are:

To recreate the simple tree card, you will need:

Balmy Blue card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛”
Starry Sky card – 5⅛” by 3⅜”
Basic White card – 5” by 3¼”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” for the inside

Using the dotty image from the Trees For Sale stamp set, I stamped all around the Balmy Blue card front in Balmy Blue ink.

Bright Leaves for the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop

May be an image of text that says "Stamp 'n Hop Current Stampin' Up!® Only OCTOBER Mini Catalogue"

Hello and welcome to the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where our theme is ‘Mini Catalogue’. My favourite stamp set at the moment is the beautiful Gorgeous Leaves, any one who knows me knows I am a sucker for leaf sets……….don’t know what it is about them, just love leaves.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the bright leaves card, you will need:

Polished Pink card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Merry Merlot card – 5¼” by 3½”
Basic White card – 5⅛” by 3⅜”
Basic White card – 3¼” by 3¼”
Merry Merlot card – 3¼” by 3¼”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” for the inside

I decided on which size circle die I was going to use for my sentiment and where I was going to position the sentiment on the card – then I drew round the inside of the die lightly with a pencil. This means I know where I need to position my images.

The Gorgeous Leaves stamp set used to make a pretty card for the Stamp 'n Hop Blog Hop

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A beautiful bright leaves card made using the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set for the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop

Using the large speckled stamp, I stamped around the pencil line in 2nd generation Blushing Bride. I just wanted a little of this colour in the background.

I then added the other leaves one colour at a time starting with the largest in Merry Merlot ink. Next came Polished Pink ink then Smoky Slate ink.

The tiny flowers were stamped in Basic Gray or Merry Merlot, I inked up one flower at a time. The stamp panel was then adhered to the Merry Merlot panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon was wrapped around both panels and secured on the back with Sellotape. The panel was then glued to the Polished Pink card front with the liquid glue.

The sentiment, from the Biggest Wish stamp set was stamped in Basic Gray ink onto a circle die cut from the square of Basic White card using my chosen size of circle die. I adhered the stamped sentiment to a slightly larger Merry Merlot scalloped circle with liquid glue then cut the side off using my Paper Trimmer. It was then added to the card front on Dimensionals.

I added a bow with a Mini Glue Dot and a scattering of 2021 – 2023 In Color Jewels. Just to bling it up a little more I added a spritz or Clear Wink of Stella. So pretty.

Stamp 'N Hop Blog Hop using the Celebrate With Cake stamp set to create a child card

Girls/Boys for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

Welcome to this months Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop where our theme is Girls/Boys. If you have hopped over from Libby Dyson’s blog welcome and I hope you will hop on to see what the other talented demos have to share with us this month.

Like many I find children’s card a bit of a challenge and after a lot of messing about I have decided to go simple and slightly left field.

To recreate the Girls/Boys card you will need:

Bermuda Bay card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Terracotta Tile – 5½” by 3¾”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
Scrap Whisper White

I took one of the panels of Whisper White and masked off a strip from top to bottom using Post It notes. I used a Sponge to apply Pool Party ink to the exposed strip of card stock.

A gorgeous rattan Christmas Wreath decorated using lovely boughs cut using the Beautiful Boughs dies by Stampin' Up!

Beautiful Wreath

Hello and welcome to the December Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop where out theme is – anything but a card – so I have chosen to decorate a wreath using the Beautiful Boughs Dies. If you have joined me from the lovely Sue Allen I am sure you loved her project. You are joining me here in the UK where it is cold but not snowy……yet. My project was inspired by a wreath made by my lovely upline Mikaela Titheridge – to see her original click on this link.

To recreate the Beautiful Wreath you will need;

  • A selection of green card stocks – I chose Mint Macaron, Soft Sea Foam, Shaded Spruce and a little Whisper White.
  • Foil – I chose Gold but Silver, Copper, or some of the gorgeous Noble Peacock foils would also look amazing.
  • Brown card stock – I chose Soft Suede
  • Ratten or Grapevine Wreath, which measures about 12” (30cm) in diameter and is readily available from Hobbycraft in the UK or online.

I began by die cutting multiples of all 3 boughs from the Beautiful Boughs dies set. I cut multiples of the Mint Macaron, Whisper White and Soft Sea Foam boughs and less of the Shaded Spruce as I planned to use the darker green to add a pop of colour.

Using a bone folder I gently curled all the boughs to add some shaping.

Using Mini Glue Dots I began adding the boughs to the wreath. I toyed with using my hot glue gun but I always find I stick myself to everything of I use the gun……….not a pretty sight and actually the Mini Glue Dots worked really well.

A gorgeous rattan Christmas Wreath decorated using lovely boughs cut using the Beautiful Boughs dies by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – A beautiful Christmas Wreath decorated using the lovely Beautiful Boughs dies

I started on the right hand side layering the Mint Macaron, Soft Sea Form and Whisper White boughs one on top of the other changing the angle to make it look as random as possible. I also cut down the boughs as needed to give smaller branches to tuck in. I covered 6” or so of the wreath then repeated the process starting from the left.

Where the 2 sides met I added the bow made from the gorgeous Real Red Ruched Ribbon, again using Mini Glue Dots. I then tucked in the Shaded Spruce boughs filling in any spaces.

www.crafty-rootes.com – A beautiful Christmas Wreath decorated using the lovely Beautiful Boughs dies

The solid pine cones were die cut from the Soft Suede card stock and the Gold Foil detailed pine cones were added on top with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. These were then tucked into the boughs to decorate the wreath.

To complete the wreath I added a scattering of the red Toile Tiding Glitter Enamel Dots to represent berries. Unfortunately in Europe we were unable to get the gorgeous Puff Paint which I would have liked to use to give a snowy effect.

I am really happy with the finished wreath and am delighted at how well the Mini Glue Dots worked for this project. I hope you like it.

Peaceful Boughs for the Stamp ‘N’Hop Blog Hop

Welcome to the October Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where our theme this month is ‘ CASE your own card’.  If you have come from the lovely Sandra Herzog I am sure you loved her project. You are currently visiting Mo Rootes from near Cambridge in the UK. I hope you like what I am sharing today.

I chose to CASE a card made for my August classes. I love this card design, it is so simple but really effective. I have used the lovely new Peaceful Boughs stamp set for the updated project.

To recreate the Peaceful Boughs card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded right lower corner
Whisper White – 5⅝” by 3⅞” – rounded right lower corner x 2
Whisper White – 3⅞” by 1”
Noble Peacock Foil – 3⅞” by ⅜” x 2

I began by using a PostIt Note to mask off a 1” strip on one of the Whisper White panels.

A lovely Christmas card made for the Case your own card Stamp 'n Hop Blog Hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop CASE your own card using the Peaceful Boughs stamp set

I stamped the both the large and small pinecones randomly above and below the masked area using Soft Suede ink. These pinecones are so realistic aren’t they? The PostIt mask was then removed.

The sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set was stamped on the 1” strip in Soft Suede ink.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

Cup of …………Anniversary?

Welcome to the September Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where our theme this month is ‘ any stamp set or dsp’.  If you have come from the lovely Sandra Herzog I am sure you loved her project. You are currently visiting Mo Rootes from near Cambridge in the Uk. I hope you like what I am sharing today.

I don’t know about you but I love a set that can be used for more than one sort of occasion and as soon as I saw the Cup of Christmas stamp set in the Autumn/Winter catalogue I knew it would make a fantastic anniversary card.

To Recreate the Cup of…..Anniversary card you will need:

So Saffron card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Bermuda Bay cardstock – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – rounded upper left corner
Scrap Whisper White cardstock

I began by stamping the 2 cups, one in Flirty Flamingo ink and the other in Bermuda Bay ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut them out using the co-ordinating Cup of Cheer dies.

I placed them on one of the Whisper White panels for placement and added a Pearlised Doily.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty anniversary card made using the Cup of Christmas stamp set

At this point I wasn’t happy, I knew the card needed something else but I couldn’t decide what!!! Don’t you hate when that happens…….. I tried a couple of embossing folders but felt they over-powered the cups. I tried a coloured circle instead of the doily…….wasn’t happy with that either.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty anniversary card made using the Cup of Christmas stamp set

At this point I reached across my desk for my catalogue, seeking inspiration and accidently pulled out the pack of Basic Pattern Decorative Masks along with the catalogue. Light bulb moment right there!

I used a Sponge Dauber and So Saffron ink to colour through the mask and it was perfect, just what I was looking for.

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty anniversary card made using the Cup of Christmas stamp set

The sponged panel was mounted onto the Bermuda Bay layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To add a bit more texture to the card front I added some of the gorgeous Polka Dot Tuille Ribbon and tucked the Pearlised Doily underneath. The panel was then added to the So Saffron card base with the same adhesive.

The sentiment  from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and the cups placed on top of the doily, the striped cup with the same liquid glue and the spotty cup on Dimensionals.  I added a Polka Dot Tuille bow and a trio of Iridescent Sequins to complete the card front.

A lovely Spring wreath card made using the Bitty Blooms Punch pack set from Stampin' Up!

Goodbye to the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack – Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where our theme this month is ‘goodbye to the 2018 – 2019 catalogue’. If you have joined me from the talented Laura Mackie’s blog, welcome, I am sure you loved her project. I had real difficulty with this theme as there are so many lovely things retiring that it was hard to make a choice. Eventually I went with the lovely little Bitty Blooms Punch Pack. I was delighted to see them in the Spring/Summer catalogue as I have really missed tiny flowers and I am gutted to see them going so soon. I have also used a lot of other retiring products to make this card; in fact I think the only thing I have used that is carrying over, other than the cardstock is the Sprig Punch.

To recreate the Bitty Blooms card you will need;

Flirty Flamingo card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛”
Early Espresso cardstock 5 ½” by 3 ¾”
Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 3 – 1 for the inside, 1 for the outside
Scrap Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, Mango Melody, Pear Pizzazz and Basic Gray
Scrap Wood Textures dsp – Retiring

I used the retiring Swirly Scribbles dies and the Big Shot to die cut the open swirly circle from the Wood Textures designer series paper. I cut three circles and glued them together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to give a bit of dimension. The piece was then added to one of the Whisper White layers using the same glue.

Using all of the Bitty Blooms Punches and the scrap coloured cardstock I punched out a selection of flowers, leaves and flower centres. I also used the Sprig Punch to get some groups of leaves. I added a little dimension to each flower by curling the petals with my Bone Folder.

Mini Glue dots were used to make up the flowers and to attach the leaves and they were then added to the scribbled circle with Mini Glue Dots. The Glue dots give just that little bit of dimension without raising the little flowers up too high.

The inside panel was stamped with some of the small flowers from the co-ordinating Bloom by Bloom stamp set in Mango Melody, Flirty Flamingo and Highland Heather inks. The same colours and images were used to decorate the front of the envelope. I added a trio of Glitter Enamel Dots to complete the card. I love the Spring colour palette of this card. I hope you like it.

Graceful card stamp set by Stampin' Up! for a lovely rose themed girlie card

Graceful Garden used for the Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop

Welcome to the April Stamp ‘n Hop blog hop which this month is focusing on girlie cards. If you have joined me from the lovely Laura I am sure you loved the project she shared with us. For my card today I have chosen to use the Graceful Garden stamp set, after all what girl doesn’t love a rose.

Making the Graceful Garden card

You will need;
Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅝” – scored at 4⅛” and with an 1” cut off the left hand front panel.
Granny Apple Green – 5½” by 2⅞” – round the upper left corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 2¾” – round the upper left corner
Wood Textures dsp – 5⅞” by ¾”

I began by stamping the large rose image onto the Whisper White panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I rounded the upper right corner of the panel with the Detailed Trio Punch and set it to one side to allow the ink to dry.

When the image had dried I coloured it in using the following Blends Pens – Granny Apple Green combo and Poppy Parade combo. This is such a lovely image to colour.

I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink. This panel was then added to the Granny Apple Green panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Using the Detailed Trio Punch I punched the upper right corner of the narrower card front panel and adhered the stamped panel to it using Dimensionals.

I glued a strip of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (dsp) to the back panel of the card front with the same Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Finally I added a trio of Red Rhinestones to the card front and stamped the rose in Granny Apple Green ink onto the Envelope.
