A pretty scenic card made using the Picturesque stamp set by Stampin' Up!

A Picturesque card

On my desk today is the new Picturesque stamp set and I have made a pretty scenic card using it.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the picturesque card, you will need:

Mint Macaron card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Basic White card – 5” by 3¼”
Garden Green card – 4 ¾” by 3⅛”
Basic White card – 4⅝” by 2⅞”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
Garden Green card – ½” strip

I stamped the foreground image in Garden Green ink right at the bottom of the 4⅝” by 2⅞” panel f Basic White card.

The image of the trees in the distance were added next with Mint Macaron ink.

Next, the sky was stamped in 2nd generation Pool Party ink above the trees. I repeated this step twice more, rotating the stamp to give a different look each time.

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink onto the strip of Garden Green card, covered with White Embossing Powder and set using a Heat Tool. I trimmed it down and added it to the card front with liquid glue.

Mountain Air stamp set and Majestic Mountains dies makes a lovely masculine birthday card

Mountain Air for a birthday card

Today I am sharing the card made for my son’s birthday using the gorgeous Mountain Air stamp set and the co-ordinating Majestic Mountains dies.

To recreate the Mountain Air card you will need:

Balmy Blue card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Garden Green – 5½” by 3¾”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
Scrap Basic Black and Whisper White

Taking one of the Whisper White panels, I stamped the detailed mountains with Soft Suede ink. I cleaned the stamp using the Shammy, turned it over, placed it back on the block and stamped the solid mountains in Gray Granite ink.

I stamped the detailed trees in Garden Green ink below the mountains. The stamp was cleaned, reversed, inked up in the same ink, stamped off and then stamped onto the stamped panel in 2nd and 3rd generation ink.

Taking a Sponge I added Balmy Blue to the sky with a halo of So Saffron around the sun and a little of the yellow between the mountains. The stamped panel was added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the Garden Green layer then to the card front on Dimensionals.

Thinking of you card made using the Lakeside Framelit dies

Lilypad Lake

Today I have been using the Lilypad Lake stamp set and co-ordinating Lakeside framelit dies to make a simple ‘thinking of you’ card.

Making the Lilypad Lake card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lilypad Lake meets Graceful Glass for a thinking of you card

I really wanted to combine this stamp set with the Graceful  Glass Vellum dsp. I especially liked the piece with wavy lines which has a real watery feel. I cut a piece 5⅞” by 2” and used the following Blends Alcohol Pens to colour in the image – Dark Pool Party, Light Bermuda Bay, Light & Dark Night of Navy. This was the first time I had used Blends to colour in the vellum and I was surprised how streaky the finished image was. It did work with this watery image though.

After colouring in the vellum I added it to a piece of Whisper White cardstock exactly the same size. To do this I squeezed a little Multipurpose liquid Adhesive onto a Silicon Mat, picked up the glue with a small piece of sponge and swiped it lightly across the Whisper White panel before adhering the vellum panel to it. I added the whole piece to a Thick Whisper White card base.

Taking some scraps of Basic Black cardstock I die cut a heron and some of the clumps of leaves and tucked these in behind the raised panel adhering them with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I inked up part of the sentiment using a Night of Navy cardstock and stamped it down on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock which I then cut to size and flagged one end. It was added to the card front using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Despite the streaky look I actually quite liked this card, let me know what you think.
