A card made using a masking technique for the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop using the Whale Done stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Sealife card for the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop where we are sharing projects made using  masking techniques. I have made a card using the Whale Done stamp set.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the Sealife card, you will need:

Pool Party card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Starry Sky card – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Basic White card – 5¼” by 3½”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
Masking Paper – 5¼” by 3½”

Using a frame from the Framed Florets Dies, I die cut an oval from the 5¼” by 3½” piece of Masking Paper. The die cut negative piece of Masking Paper was stuck to the 5¼” by 3½” panel of Basic White card.

I used a Blending Brush to apply Pool Party ink to the oval space masked by the Masking Paper.

With the Masking paper still in place I stamped the fronds of seaweed in Shaded Spruce ink. The Masking paper was then carefully peeled away revealing the inked oval.

The turtle was stamped in Cajun Craze and the Whale in Starry Sky ink, both overlapping the inked oval. Finally, I added the shoals of fish in Daffodil Delight.

The sentiment was stamped in Starry Sky ink in the lower right-hand corner of the panel.

The decorated panel was then glued to the Starry Sky panel and then mounted onto the Pool Party card front on Dimensionals.

Seabed Embossing Folder

Here is a card made using the Seabed embossing folder made for our latest team challenge, the theme being ‘Texture’.

Just Jade – 5⅞” by ⅜” x 2
Whisper White – 5⅞” by 2⅝”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” for the inside

Whale Done used for an underwater thank yu card featuring Stampin' Up! products

Whale Done

Oh my goodness, I love the new Whale Done stamp set and co-ordinating Whale Builder Punch, it is just adorable.

To recreate the Whale card you will need:

Seaside Spray card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Night of Navy – 5 ½” by 3 ¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner x 2
Scrap Whisper White

I took one of the Whisper White panels, inked up the ‘hydrangea’ image from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set using Sponge Daubers and Pool Party, Seaside Spray, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz inks. The colours were applied randomly over the surface of the stamp to gi ve a mottled effect. This was stamped full strength and 2nd generation all over the Whisper White panel.
