A cute poinsetta stamped mini treat box and a hand stamped snowman candle using Stampin' Up! product

Snowman candle for December Classes

Classes this week were so much fun as we were making some of the gorgeous Mini Curvy Keepsake Boxes and stamping on candles using the Snowman Season and Cup of Christmas stamp sets. We began by making the cute candle.

To recreate the Snowman candle you will need:

White Tissue Paper
Greaseproof or wax paper
Momento Tuxedo Black Ink
Blends – dark Cherry Cobbler, dark Bermuda bay & dark Pumpkin Pie

Using the Memento ink we stamped the snow man onto the slightly smoother, slightly glossier side of the tissue paper. After I bit of trial and error one of my team members and I noticed that the ink stayed a darker if stamped on the smooth side.

A sweet little snowman candle ready for Christmas

www.crafty-rootes.com – a gorgeous hand stamped candle using the Snowman Seasons stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Using Scissors we cut away the excess tissue paper around the image and placed the stamped image, ink side up onto the candle

A long thin piece of greaseproof paper, slightly wider than the candle was wrapped the candle with the excess gathered at the back of the candle to act as a handle.

We used a Heat Tool to set the image into the candle. The trick is to apply the heat quite close – about 2 – 3 inches away from the greaseproof. If you watch carefully you will see the ink darken and the edges of the tissue paper disappear. Then roll the candle from side to side a couple of times on a hard surface to smooth out any lumpy areas then gently peel away the greasproof. If you can still see tissue paper then repeat the heating step. We stamped a sentiment and applied it to the candle in the same way.

Taking the following Blends markers we coloured in the image on the candle – dark Cherry Cobbler, dark Bermuda Bay & dark Pumpkin Pie

To recreate the Mini Curvy Keepsake Boxes you will need:

5½” by 5½” piece of Whisper White cardstock x 2
Scrap Whisper White

The ladies die cut the Mini Curvy Keepsake Boxes from the Whisper White cardstock panels. The also die cut 2 of the cute tags from the same set of dies.

We stamped the snowflakes from the Snowman Season stamp set randomly over the 4 sides of one of the boxes in Pool party ink. And for the other box we used the small poinsettia image from the Cup of Christmas stamp set in Real Red ink stamping once on each panel.

Making Christmas Bright and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch used to create a gorgeous set of Christmas cards

Making Christmas Bright for December Classes

Today I am sharing the cards we made at this month’s classes using the gorgeous Making Christmas Stamp set and co-ordinating Christmas Bulb Builder Punch. This is such a fun set to use and so easy and my ladies loved the punch.

Floating Panel Card

We began by stamping the sting of lights onto the top and bottom of a 5” by 3” panel of Whisper White cardstock in Blueberry Bushel ink and adding this stamped piece to a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock 5⅛” by 3⅛”.

Making Christmas Bright and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch used to create a gorgeous set of Christmas cards

www.crafty-rootes.com – Making Christmas Bright and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch

Using scrap strips of Silver Foil and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch we punched out 11 bulb tops – 6 for this card and 5 for our last card. We then punched out 4 bulbs in Blueberry Bushel cardstock, 4 in Real Red cardstock and 3 in Pineapple Punch cardstock – 6 for this card and 5 for the last card. We added the bulb tops to the bulbs with a tiny dab of Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and set them aside to dry. When they were dry we added them to the stamped panel on Stampin Dimesnionals.

On a second piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5” by 3” we stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink and a string of stars in Pineapple Punch ink.

Using the paper trimmer I cut a Blueberry Bushel card base 11¾” by 4⅛” and scored it in half at 5⅞”. Placing the long side up against the top of the trimmer I measured an 1” from the score line and cut. Taking the cut piece cut an inch strip and added the remaining piece to the scrap bag.

We folded the card on the score line and added the Real Red stamped panel with a thin line of glue along the top to the folded flap. The 1” strip of Blueberry Bushel was place on the inside panel of the card, lined up with the bottom and both sides, glue was added to the bottom edge of the Real Red panel and the front panel was pushed down onto the strip to finish the card front. We added Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the back of the inside stamped panel, placed the panel face down on the back of the inside of the card front and closed the card to glue the panel in place and hidden behind the front panel and the card is finished.

Stamped String of Lights card

We began by stamping the star randomly in the top right corner of the Real Red card base in Real Red ink. Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock we stamped the ‘string’ using Memento Tuxedo Black ink in the left hand corner and added 3 bulb tops in the same ink.

Making Christmas Bright and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch used to create a gorgeous set of Christmas cards

www.crafty-rootes.com – Making Christmas Bright and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch

The merry and bright bulbs were stamped in Blueberry Bushel, Real Red and Pineapple Punch ink. We then added a scattering in stars in the Real Red and Pineapple Punch inks, rounded the corner with the Detailed Trio Punch before adding to a panel of Pineapple Punch cardstock.

We wrapped a piece of Blueberry Bushel Ribbon around the panel securing the ends with Sellotape on the back and added a bow to the front with a Mini Glue Dot. We added a strip of Blueberry Bushel to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The stamped panel was added to the card front on Stampin Dimensionals.

String of Lights card

We stamped the string on a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4” by 2⅞” and added the previously assembled bulbs using a dimensional on the back of each. We stamped the sentiment in either Blueberry Bushel or Real Red ink in the lower right corner and added the panel to a layer of Blueberry Bushel cardstock measuring 4¼” by 3⅛” with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4” by 3⅛” we placed it in the Stamparatus, inked up the Buffalo Check stamp with Pineapple Punch ink and stamped it on the panel, this gingham check looks fab in the Pineapple Punch ink. We added a strip of Real Red cardstock to one side of the Buffalo Check panel and added the panel to the front of a Pineapple Punch card base. The Christmas Bulb panel was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

These are such bright, fun cards, I love them.

Beautiful Baubles stamp set makes fantastic Christmas cards

Beautiful Bauble November Classes

Today I am sharing the 3 projects made by the ladies during the November classes. We used the gorgeous Beautiful Baubles stamp set and coordinating Detailed Bauble dies. This month I thought I would shake things up a bit by starting with the most complicated card and ending up with the most straightforward card instead of the other way round.

Hanging Bauble card

We began by taking the Coastal Cabana card base and laying a panel of Whisper White measuring 5⅜” by 3⅜” on the front. We then placed the 2nd largest circle die from the Layering Circle Framelits onto the Whisper White panel and ran both layers through the Big Shot together to give us the window. We then ran the die cut Whisper White piece through the Big Shot with the Oh My Stars Embossing folder and set it aside..

Beautiful Baubles stamp set makes fantastic Christmas cards

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Baubles cards for November classes

Taking a die cut circle of Vellum and Sponge Daubers we sponged the centre with Coastal Cabana ink and added Gorgeous Grape around the edge and set the piece aside to dry. I had previously die cut 2 of the detailed baubles for each lady using the Detailed Bauble dies and Silver Foil Paper. These die cuts were placed face down onto the Silicon Craft, We squeezed a little Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive onto the sheet and picked it up with a small wedge of sponge and dabbed it all over both pieces. The coloured Vellum layer was the sandwiched between the 2 sticky layers and pressed together until the glue dried.

We threaded a small piece of ⅛” Whisper White Ribbon through the loop of the bauble and added it to the Coastal Cabana card front with Sellotape allowing the bauble to hang in the ‘window’. The embossed Whisper White layer was then added to the card front with multipurpose liquid adhesive, lining up the die cut window and hiding the ends of the ribbon. We coloured a longer piece of the same ribbon using the dark Highland Heather Blends pen and tied it in a bow before adding it to the top of the bauble with a Mini Glue Dot.

The sentiment from the Star of Light Stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape onto a scrap of Whisper White. This was then added to a scrap of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and trimmed down. It was added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card front and a scattering of Iridescent Sequins were added.

The inside Whisper White panel was added with the same adhesive after we had stamped some random stars in the upper right corner. We stamped the same stars on the front of a Whisper White Envelope.

Embossed Bauble

We began this card by swiping over a panel of Whisper White card stock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅜” using the Embossing Buddy. We then stamped the large bauble in the centre with Versamark ink. The string was added to the top of the bauble using Versark and the panel was then covered with Silver Embossing Powder. We then melted the embossing powder using the Heat Tool. Love this effect.

Beautiful Baubles stamp set makes fantastic Christmas cards

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Baubles cards for November classes

Taking the following Blends pens we then coloured parts of the bauble – Light & Dark Highland Heather, Light & Dark Bermuda Bay & Light & Dark Pool Party.  The upper right hand panel of the layer was rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch. We also rounded the upper right corner of the card front and a Gorgeous Grape layer measuring 5½” by 3¾”. The embossed panel was glued to the Gorgeous Grape layer with Multipurpose liquid Adhesive.

A strip of Coastal Cabana cardstock, 5⅞” by 2” was added to the front of the Thick Whisper White card base and the embossed layer added with Stampin Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink onto a scrap of Whisper White which was cut down and added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The card was finished off with a scattering of Iridescent Sequins.

Row of Baubles

We stamped the tiny snowflakes randomly down the left hand edge of a Bermuda Bay card base using Bermuda Bay ink.  The baubles were stamped in Basic Gray onto a panel of Whisper White measuring 4⅛” by 2½” and stamped the little snowflakes along the top of the panel.

Beautiful Baubles stamp set makes fantastic Christmas cards

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Baubles cards for November classe

Using a selection of Marker pens, Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana and Pool  Party, the ladies picked out some areas of the baubles to colour. A thin layer of Silver Foil was added to hide the top of the bauble strings and the panel was added to a layer of Gorgeous Grape cardstock 4⅛” by 2¾” and this was added to the card front on dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped onto the card front with Gorgeous Grape ink and we tucked in strips of Highland Heather, Whisper White and Coastal Cabana cardstock under the raised panel and added the scatter of Iridescent Sequins.

Beautiful Bouquet for February Classes

Beautiful Bouquet Classes

We have had a fab time over the last week in my February classes playing with the gorgeous Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and the co-ordinating Bouquet Bunch dies. This set contains 21 dies and 37 stamps including some lovely scripted sentiments.

Beautiful Bouquet for February Classes

The first card we made was very simple. We started with a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock 3⅞” by 3⅛” and stamped our chosen sentiment, either from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set or the Mother’s day sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, at the bottom of the panel using Berry Burst ink. Above that we stamped the flower stems in Wild Wasabi ink. Next we added flowers in Calypso Coral ink, So Saffron Ink and Night of Navy ink. We stamped 2 flowers in Berry Burst ink onto scrap Very Vanilla cardstock and die cut these using the Big Shot and the  Bouquet Bunch dies and added them to the stamped layer on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stamped layer was added to a piece of Berry Burst cardstock after corner rounding the upper left corners with the retired Project Life Corner Rounder using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. Taking a small strip of Night of Navy cardstock, 4⅛” by ¼” and a pair of scissors we cut a banner end and glued the piece to a Thick Very Vanilla Card base with Tombow. The stamped layer was then added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish off we added some Basic Pearls to the 2 largest flowers.

Beautiful Bouquet for February Classes

For the second card we started with a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock 5½” by 3¾”. We began by stamping the largest of the flowers in Calypso Coral ink on the right side of the panel. We added flowers in So Saffron ink, the Night of Navy ink and Wisteria Wonder ink. The leaves were added in Wild Wasabi ink. I always start with the larger images and use the smaller images to fill in the gaps. Taking a layer of Night of Navy cardstock 5⅝” by 3⅞” and punched out a label using the Pretty Label Punch, I love doing this, no one will ever know there is a piece missing behind the stamped panel. I corner rounded the upper left and lower right corners of the stamped panel and the Night of Navy panel. We added a piece of Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon to the panel securing it to the reverse with Sellotape, before adhering the two layers together with Tombow. The panel was then added to a Calypso Coral Card Base. The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy onto scrap Very Vanilla cardstock and die cut using the Layering Circles dies and added to the punched label. This was added over the ribbon on Stampin’ Dimensionals and Basic Pearls added to a few of the flowers and the label.

Beautiful Bouquet for February Classes

The final card began with a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock 5⅞” by 4⅛” and a Paper Trimmer. We lined the upper left hand corner up with the cutting track and the lower right hand corner roughly 1 – 1½” up the right side and cut. Keeping the upper left hand corner in the cutting track we swung the panel to the right and cut again about 1 – 1½” on the bottom edge. This leaves 2 triangles and a piece that looks like a man’s tie. Setting the triangles to one side we placed the ‘tie’ shaped piece onto the front of a Thick Very Vanilla card base with the thin piece in the upper left corner and the wider piece in the lower left corner and drew a light pencil line down both sides. This defines the area we needed to fill with our stamped images. We started again with the largest images and worked through to the smallest image using Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Berry Burst, Night of Navy, Wild Wasabi and Wisteria Wonder inks  and erased the pencil marks when we had filled the area. We stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink on the left hand panel before adding the left and right hand panels using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. We stamped the largest and smallest flowers onto scrap Very Vanilla and die cut them using the Big Shot and the Bouquet Bunch dies. We also die cut leaves from Wild Wasabi cardstock and flowers from So Saffron cardstock. All of these elements were added to the top of the stamped diagonal panel using Tombow or Stampin’ Dimensionals.
