Joy of Sets Blog Hoo where the theme is Christmas Music. I have chosen In the Bleak Midwinter

In the Bleak Midwinter – Joy of Sets Blog Hop

Thank you for joining me today for the very last Joy of Sets Blog Hop where our theme is ‘Christmas Music’. I chose the carol – ‘In the Bleak Midwinter, frosty winds may moan. Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone’ and chose the Snow Front stamp set to create my snowy/icy scene. If you have hopped over from Gez Carpenter or started with me, you are very welcome.

To recreate the In the Bleak Midwinter card. you will need:

Balmy Blue card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Shaded Spruce – 4” by 3”
Whisper White – 3¾” by 2¾”
Soft Suede – 3” by 1⅜”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”

I began by randomly stamping the group of trees from the Snow Front stamp set in Balmy Blue ink across the Balmy Blue card front to add a bit of texture. I added the panel of Soft Suede card to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and set it aside.

The mountains from the Snow Front stamp set were stamped in 3rd generation Highland Heather ink for a subtle background.

Using a piece of copy paper, I tore a wavy edge and used one of the new Blending Brushes to add a little Balmy Blue ink onto the stamped piece, creating layers of snow banks.

The cottage was then stamped in Soft Suede ink.  I added a variety of trees from the same stamp set in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Shaded Spruce ink to add some depth to the image. The icy path was added in Balmy Blue ink and the sweet pair of deer in Soft Suede, aren’t they adorable.

Taking a Post It Note I punched out a ¾” circle, added it to the top of the image and used the Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink to give the illusion of a winter sky. I added a little Misty Moonlight around the top to give some depth. To add to the illusion of icy conditions I sprayed the stamped panel with Frost White Shimmer Spray.

The finished piece was added to the Shaded Spruce panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, then added to the card front on Dimensionals.

I think this is so pretty but if I am honest doesn’t look all that bleak…….. What do you think?

Wedding card for the Joy of Sets Blog Hop

Welcome to the Joy of Sets monthly blog hop where our theme this month is ‘wedding’. Whether you have hopped over from Libby Fens or started the hop with me you are welcome.

To recreate the Joy of Sets Wedding card you will need:

Soft Sea Foam card base – 8” by 7½” – scored and folded at 4”
Highland Heather – 7¼” by 3¾”
Whisper White – 7” by 3½”
Whisper White – 7¼” by 3¾” for the inside

I began by stamping the double rose image onto the centre of the small white panel using Highland Heather ink. I added the other flowers and leaves around in Rococo Rose, So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam ink.

I used the playful Alphabet dies and my die cutting machine to cut the letters out of the image. Using the same dies I cut the letters out again from a foam adhesive panel and glued the coloured die cut letters to the adhesive letters.

The stamped panel was then glued to the Highland Heather layer using liquid glue.

The backing from the die cut letters was then removed and the letters placed into the negative spaces to complete the image. I then added the ‘holes’ from the letters using the liquid adhesive…………after I had hunted through the waste bin to find them!! I forgot I would need them and threw them away……. This is known as the eclipse technique.

Using the Soft Sea Foam Blends Alcohol Marker I coloured some white seam binding ribbon, wrapped it around the stamped layer and added it to the Soft Sea Foam card base.

I splattered the card with a Clear Wink of Stella Pen and also used the pen to paint the letters. To complete the card I added a scattering of Gold Glitter Dots. So Pretty. I hope you like it.

A masculine birthday card made using the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set for the Joy of Sets Blog Hop

FONTS-amental

It is time for the Joy of Sets monthly blog hop where our theme is FONTS-amental!!!! Love this title. I love a good font but am strictly short and to the point when adding sentiments to a card. I have lots stamp sets with but find myself reaching for the same few tried and tested phrases every time. So for this challenge I have taken a sentiment only stamp set and used every one of the sentiments to make a card.

To recreate the FONTS-amental card you will need:

Bermuda Bay card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Pacific Point – 4⅞” by 3¼”
Whisper White – 4⅝” by 3”
Pear Pizzazz – 5⅞” by 1”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”

I mounted all the stamps from the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set onto acrylic blocks and started stamping them in either Bermuda Bay ink, Pacific Point ink or Pear Pizzazz ink starting with the ‘Awesome at any age’ in the centre.

When all the sentiments had been stamped on the smallest Whisper White panel I added the stamped panel to the Pacific Point layer using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I ran the strip of Pear Pizzazz card through my die cutting machine with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder. I added the embossed strip diagonally across the front of the Bermuda Bay card base using the same liquid adhesive.

The stamped layer was then added to the card front using Dimensionals.

I toyed with adding some gems or some ribbon but in the end I decided to leave well alone.

A pretty Christmas card made in non traditional colours

Christmas in July – Joy of Sets Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Joy of Sets blog hop where our theme is ‘Christmas in July’. You can never start too early when making your Christmas cards and for the hop I have chosen to use the lovely Peaceful Boughs stamp set and Beautiful Boughs Dies to make my card.

To recreate the Christmas in July card you will need;

Gorgeous Grape card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – Rounded lower left corner
Shaded Spruce – 5½” by 3¾” – Rounded lower left corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – Rounded lower left corner
Whisper White 4” by 3”
Scrap Gold Foil

I die cut the largest oval from the smallest panel of Whisper White using the Layering Ovals dies. The oval was placed onto one of the Whisper White panels and held in place with a little temporary adhesive.

I then stamped both the bough images across the top of the Whisper White panel and the oval in Shaded Spruce ink.

The oval was then removed and the boughs were stamped down the sides of the panel. I randomly added the dotty stamp in Pool Party ink.

The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink below the stamped boughs. The stamped panel of Whisper White was adhered to the Shaded Spruce layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The oval piece was added over top on Dimensionals, taking care to line up the boughs at the top. I die cut some of the outline pinecones from scrap Gold Foil and tucked them under the oval piece, securing them with Glue Dots.

Using a dark Highland Heather Blends Marker I coloured in a length of the Whisper White Seam Binding Ribbon. I tied it in a bow and added it to the top of the oval using a Glue Dot.
