Seaside Bay card for the Stamping Dreams Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stamping Dreams Blog Hop where we are sharing projects made using the theme ‘thoughts & prayers’. I have used the Seaside Bay stamp set and dies with the gorgeous Fresh As A Daisy dsp to make my card.

Colours in this project are:

To recreate the seaside bay card, you will need:

Azure Afternoon card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Pecan Pie card – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Fresh As A Daisy dsp – 5¼” by 3½”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
Scrap Basic White & Old Olive card

I cut out the piece of Fresh as a Daisy designer series paper from the large 12” by 12” sheet and trimmed it down to 5⅛” by 3⅜” by taking a bit off the top.

Using the Seaside Bay Dies, I die cut some grasses from scrap Old Olive card and added them to the dsp panel. The overhanging pieces were trimmed off with Scissors. The dsp layer was then glued to the Pecan Pie layer using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The whole panel was then glued to the Azure Afternoon card base.

Using the following Blends Pens I coloured in the bird – Boho Blue, Wild Wheat & Pecan Pie. I also used Sponge Daubers to add Wild Wheat ink to the bottom of the bird and Boho Blue to the back of the bird. This helped it blend into the background mage. The bird was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

Sitting Pretty for a simple thinking of you card

Today I have been making a simple thinking of you card using the Sitting Pretty stamp set and my Stamparatus.

Ink to Block Technique

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

I began by taking a large acrylic block, size E. I added Granny Apple Green ink  by pressing the ink pad directly to the top of the block. I added Balmy Blue ink to the bottom of the block then spritzed the block using a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water: I find 3 – 4 sprays works best. You need the ink to be moving and blending on the block. Turn the block over and place it down on the Thick Whisper White card front and leave for a couple of minutes for the ink to be absorbed onto the card. Lift the block off and dab up any excess water. Set aside to dry.

When the card base was dry I placed it into the Stamparatus and held it in position with a magnet. I inked up the gorgeous decorative bench from the Sitting Pretty stamp set with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it down. I repeated this twice more to get a really dark image.

I added the sentiment form the Sitting Here stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added some Faceted Dots to finish the card.

Such a simple but effective card and I love the fact that every time you try this background technique you get a different look. Love it! I really hope you like it.
