Today I am sharing a card made using the Sheltering Tree stamp set for the Global Design Project #183 challenge, this week’s theme is ‘A Day in the Park’
Making the card
You will need; Balmy Blue card base Granny Apple Green 5” by 3⅝” Early Espresso 4⅝” by 3¼” Whisper White 4⅜” by 3” Whisper White 4⅛” by 3” Whisper White 4⅛” by ½” Whisper White scrap for the sentiment
I began by taking acrylic block H which is long and thin and inking it by pressing the bottom ⅓ onto a Pear Pizzazz ink pad and the upper ⅔’s onto a Balmy Blue ink pad. Once inked I used a Spritzer filled with water and sprayed the inked block with water until it was wet but not running. The block was then placed on a panel of Whisper White, face down and left for a couple of minutes to let the watery ink soak into the cardstock.
www.crafty-rootes.com – the Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for the Global Design Project #183 Challenge
Once dry I placed the panel onto the platform of the Stamparatus and positioned the tree image from the Sheltering Tree stamp set, half on and half off the inked panel, I stamped the tree in Early Espresso and used the Stamparatus as it allowed me to stamp the image multiple times to achieve a really dark impression.
www.crafty-rootes.com – the Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for the Global Design Project #183 Challenge
I used a Post It note to mask off the left side of the panel along the edge of the inked block impression. I then inked up the tree canopy with Pear Pizzazz and stamped it using the Stamparatus. The Post It note ensured that ‘leaves’ were only stamped on the right side of the tree. I wanted to show the tree changing from Winter to Spring. I repeated the stamping with Granny Apple Green ink to give a two-tone effect to the leaves.
www.crafty-rootes.com – the Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for the Global Design Project #183 Challenge
I stamped the ‘ground’ image in Pear Pizzazz ink and added ‘grass’ on the right side of the panel. A couple of falling leaves were added to cover a smudge!
www.crafty-rootes.com – the Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for the Global Design Project #183 Challenge
I rounded the upper right corner with the Detailed Trio Punch and added the stamped layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to a panel of Early Espresso with a rounded upper right corner. This was then glued with the same glue to a panel of Granny Apple Green cardstock, with a rounded corner.
I adhered a strip of Whisper White cardstock to the front of a Balmy Blue card base using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added the stamped panel to the card front on Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com – the Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for the Global Design Project #183 Challenge
The sentiment from the Fable Friends stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched out with a 1¼” Circle Punch. It was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
I stamped the tree and canopy onto the layer of Whisper White for the inside of the card and the envelope.
An interesting technique. I hope you like the card.

Today I am sharing a card made for the Inspire. Create. Share #039 Challenge the theme of which is ‘Pets’. I chose to make my card using the lovely new Let it Ride stamp set. I don’t have horses myself but my neighbour has both horses and donkeys in their field and I love watching them.
This card was chosen as the winner of this challenge.
Making the Let It Ride card
You will need; Mossy Meadow card base Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – one for the inside Wood Textures dsp – 5⅛” by 3⅜” Whisper White 3” by 2⅞” Whisper White 2 ¾” by 2⅝”
www.crafty-rootes.com – Let it Ride stamp set used for the Inspire Create Chare #039 Challenge
I began by stamping the horses in Soft Suede ink onto the smallest piece of Whisper White cardstock. I coloured them in using the Soft Suede combo and Crumb Cake combo of Stampin Blends.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Let it Ride stamp set used for the Inspire Create Chare #039 Challenge
I stamped the trees in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Mossy Meadow ink to give some depth to the image. The grass stamp came from the Best Bunny stamp set and was stamped in 1st and 2nd generation Garden Green ink. I added a little Garden Green Watercolor Pencil to the remaining white area to pull the trees and grassy area together.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Let it Ride stamp set used for the Inspire Create Chare #039 Challenge
I folded and burnished the Mossy Meadow card base and added one of the larger panels of Whisper White cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The piece of Wood Textures designer Series Paper was then added with the ame glue.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Let it Ride stamp set used for the Inspire Create Chare #039 Challenge
I glued the stamped panel to the layer of Whisper White using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added it to the card front using dimensionals. The sentiment from the Well Said stamp set was stamped in Garden Green ink onto a scrap of Whisper White and adhered to the card front with liquid adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Let it Ride stamp set used for the Inspire Create Chare #039 Challenge
I stamped the horses onto the remaining panel of Whisper White and adhered it inside the card. The same image was then stamped on the envelope.
A very sweet and simple card. I hope you like it.

Today I am CASEing a beautiful pastel card made by Louise Sharpe for the Global Design Project #164 challenge.
I loved the Buffalo Check background of Louise’s card so I kept it in my version but stamped mine in Mint Macaron, so happy to see this colour returning. I backed the checked panel with a layer of Early Espresso cardstock
www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature for the Global Design Project #164
I stamped the gorgeous tree from the Rooted in Natures stamp set in Shaded Spruce and Early Espresso and die cut it using the Nature’s Roots Framelits. I added a rounded corner……..love a rounded corner!

Welcome to October’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. If you have hopped over from the lovely Pia Gerhardt I am sure you loved her project. The theme this month is a Christmas jump start – with this in mind I designed this month’s class projects around the gorgeous Winter Woods stamp set and co-ordinating In the Woods dies.
Row of Trees Card
I began with a panel of Whisper White 5⅛” by 3½”. I inked up the row of trees in Soft Suede ink and added a little of the gorgeous Frost White Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber and stamped across the Whisper White panel twice.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Winter Woods for a Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop
Taking the snow bank edgelit from the In the Woods Framelit Dies, I die cut the bottom of the panel before adding the stamped panel to a layer of Soft Suede cardstock 5¼” by 3⅝” using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I then added the whole piece offset onto a Soft Sea Foam card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The greeting from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set was stamped on scrap Whisper White cardstock in Shaded Spruce ink. This was added to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. For an bit of extra bling I added a scattering of Iridescent Sequins.
Christmas Tree
I started with a panel of Soft Sea Foam 5⅞” by 3⅞” and stamped the row of trees in Soft Suede ink about half way up the panel. Using Soft Sea Foam ink and the tiny group of stars stamp from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set I stamped randomly above the trees.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Winter Woods for a Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop
I ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3⅞” by 3” and a piece of Vellum 3⅞” by 2” through the Big Shot with the snow bank edgelit die and added them to the Soft Sea Foam piece with Stampin Dimensionals. I wrapped a piece of the gorgeous Braided Linen Trim around the bottom of the panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape. I added a bow on the top with a Mini Glue Dot.
Next I die cut the Christmas Tree and the inner part of the tree from a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock 6” by 2⅝” and flipped up the tree flaps and added some Champagne Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber. The tree was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive on the bottom and Dimensionals on the top. The whole panel was then added to a Soft Suede card base with a sprinkling of Iridescent Sequins. The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink onto a scrap of Whisper White and added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
Gift Bag
The sweet bag was made using the Gift Bag Punch Board and a panel of Soft Sea Foam 11” by 7” and following the ‘medium’ bag instructions I punched and scored the bag. I trimmed away the excess pieces and stamped the front panel and closing top flap with the Soft Sea Foam ink and the tiny star stamp from the Beautiful Bauble stamp set. I closed the bottom of the bag using Tear & Tape.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Winter Woods for a Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop
I die cut a snow bank from a piece of Whisper White cardstock and added it to the front of the bag with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the tree onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3½” by 2” using Shaded Spruce Ink and a little Champagne Shimmer Paint added with a Sponge Dauber. I die cut the tree using the In the Woods Framelit dies and attached it to the box with Dimensionals.
I wrapped some ⅛” Whisper White Ribbon around the bag and tied in a bow and added a scatter of Iridescent Sequins.
I am really happy with these projects, I hope you like them. Please hop on to see what Jo Blackman has to share with us, then take the opportunity to hop around to see the rest of the wonderful inspiration provided by the other lovely demos.

Today I have been playing with my Stamparatus and have come up with a lovely mirrored Rooted in Nature stamp set.
Making the Mirrored Rooted in Nature card
I began with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2¾”. I placed it in the corner of my Stamparatus , placed the cut through tree trunk image on the upper half and picked up the stamp using one of the clear panels. I inked the stamp in Balmy Blue ink and stamped it down. I then rotated the Whisper White panel through 180⁰ and stamped again without re-inking to give a mirror image.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique
I placed the lovely tall tree image over the stamped tree ring, picked it up with the other panel. Inked it up with Early Espresso Ink and stamped it down. The whisper White cardstock was again rotated through 180⁰ and the image was stamped again. I love this look.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique
I added a 5⅞” by ½” strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock to either side of the stamped panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added this piece to the front of a Balmy Blue card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique
The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Blueberry Bushel onto a scrap of Whisper White and I flagged the ends using the Tailored Tag Punch. It was added to the front of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To complete the card I added a piece of ⅛” Blueberry Bushel ribbon and tied it in a bow.
A sweet and simple card, I hope you like it.

I have been using the Christmas Quilt stamp set today to make a last minute Christmas card.
I stamped the tiny patterned triangles using Old Olive ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock then added the solid triangles using the Cherry Cobbler ink pad before die cutting the ‘tree’ shape using the Quilt Builder Dies. I also die cut a ‘tree’ in Old Olive using one of the patterns from the Merry Little Christmas DSP .
www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Quilt stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I die cut a stitched oval using the Layering Oval Framelits from scrap Whisper White cardstock and mounted it onto a scalloped oval die cut from the same set using Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Quilt stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I added the old olive tree to the right side of the oval with Tombow and the stamped tree to the left side of the oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals after adding the tree stand in Chocolate Chip ink.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Quilt stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
Taking the ‘stitched triangle’ image I stamped in Old Olive ink all over a Cherry Cobbler card base to add some texture to the card. I inked up part of the sentiment from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set using an Old Olive Marker – a great option if you only want some of the words, and stamped it onto a ¼” strip of Whisper White and added it to the card front with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The oval topper was then added on Stampin’ Dimensionals. A bow made from ⅛” Gold Metallic Ribbon was added to the top of the oval using a Mini Glue Dot.
Such a cute card. Hope you like it.
