Paper Pieced Leafy Spray – Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

Stamping with Friends Blog Hop – 1

Hello and welcome to the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop where we are sharing something we have been working on. When I saw the Petals of Beauty Dies, especially the large leafy die, my immediate thought was ‘paper piecing’ and that is what I have used to make my card.

Colours used to make this card are:

To recreate the paper pieced leafy spray card, you will need:

Pool Party card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Secret Sea card – 4⅞” by 3⅜”
Basic White card – 5¼” by 4”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” for the inside
Scrap Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst, Pool Party & Secret Sea

Using the Textured Notes Dies, I die cut a decorated rectangle from the 5¼” by 4” panel of basic White card.

I die cut the leafy spray from scrap pieces of Fresh Freesia, Berry Burst, Pool Party & Secret Sea using the large die from the Petals of Beauty dies. A Take Your Pick Tool was used to free all the pieces from the die, one colour at a time, taking care to keep the leaves in the correct position.

The Secret Sea outline leafy die cut was then adhered to the die cut Basic White rectangle. At this point I realised it would have been a lot easier if I had adhered double sided adhesive sheet to the back of each scrap piece…….. don’t you love hindsight!

The infill leaf pieces were then inlaid into the Secret Sea outline; I used all the colours.

The sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set was stamped in the lower left corner using Secret Sea ink. The whole decorated panel was then glued to the Secret Sea layer. I then added the panel to the Pool Party card front on Dimensionals.

A trio of Iridescent Faceted Gems finished the card. With the left-over pieces, I made three other cards. Let me know which is your favourite.
