Painted Glass celebration card using Stampin' Up! product

Painted Glass for a team member promotion

Today I am sharing a card I made recently using the Painted Glass Stamp set and co-ordinating Stained Glass dies. I made the card for my lovely team member Jill who promoted to Bronze Elite, well done Jill.

Making the painted Glass card

I started by using my Embossing Buddy on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock then stamping the gorgeous sentiment from the Painted Glass stamp set in Versamark ink. I covered the sentiment with Copper Embossing Powder before using my Heat Tool to melt the embossing powder. I really love this gothic style font and it looks amazing when embossed.

I die cut the sentiment using the Stitched Shaped framelit dies and die cut a scalloped oval using the Layered Oval dies from Copper Foil. I glued these together using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

On another scrap of Whisper White card I stamped the rose image 4 times in Versamark ink, covered it with Copper Embossing Powder then heated it with my Heat Tool. Taking the Flirty Flamingo ink and the Highland Heather ink and Sponge daubers I applied ink to all the flowers. When they were all coloured I ran them through my Big Shot with the co-ordinating Stained Glass dies.

Painted Glass celebration card using Stampin' Up! product

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Glass stamp set by Stampin’ Up for a team promotion

I cut a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5¼” by 3½” and added a strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and a strip of Highland Heather cardstock 4½” by ¼” diagonally across the panel and added the stamped oval over the top on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then added the 4 roses to the panel with either Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive or Stampin’ Dimensionals. For some added interest I rounded the upper right corner with the Detailed trio Punch.I added this panel to a layer of Highland Heather cardstock 4 ½” by 3 ¾”. This whole layer was added to a Thick Whisper White card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. As a final touch I added a scattering of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

I really like this card and colour combo. I hope Jill likes it

Lovely birthday card using Stampin’ Up product

Happiest of Days, Birthday

I’ve been using the Happiest of Days stamp set to make a birthday card today. I stamped the sweet cake image on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut it out using one of the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies and my Big Shot. I cut a slightly larger oval using the Layering Ovals dies and Old Olive cardstock and layered them together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the rose image from the same stamp set in the Momento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut it out using my scissors. I used Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo and Old Olive ink and a Blender Pen to colour in the images.

Flowers For A Picnic

I have been playing today with the fantastic new Picnic for You stamp set. This is going to be such a versatile set and I have plans to use it for my Adult Education event in March; so watch this space……

For today’s’ card I focused on the leafy sprig and flower stamps rather than the more obvious picnic basket and food stamps. I am saving these for another day.

I started with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock 5⅞” by 2” and stamped the leafy sprig image in Garden Green ink randomly all over it. I added the larger flower image in Flirty Flamingo ink and the smaller flower image in Peakaboo Peach ink, 1st and 2nd generation to add a little more texture.

Dainty flowers on a card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Picnic With You by Stampin’ Up!

I adhered a 5⅞” by ⅜” strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock to the left hand side of the Very Vanilla panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive and a strip of Peakaboo Peach cardstock the same size to the right hand side leaving a smaller border. I wasn’t happy with the panel as it didn’t stand out enough. I added a ¼” strip of Garden Green cardstock behind the Peakaboo Peach piece which pulled the panel together nicely.

I added a 5⅞” piece of Lace Trim to the right hand side for some added texture. I stamped the sentiment from the Picnic With You stamp set in Garden Green ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock and die cut it using the Layering Ovals dies and added it to a Flirty Flamingo scalloped oval cut from the same set.

Sweet delicate floral card

I added the stamped panel to a Thick Very Vanilla card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and added the sentiment to the right side. I thought about adding some Basic Pearls but decided against it as I really like the clean lines of the card. Let me know what you think!

Petal Passion Stamp-a-Stack

Saturday saw some of my lovely ladies gathering for another Stamp-a-Stack. This time their pack included the gorgeous black and white Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and a pack of Black Rhinestones. The black and white paper is so versatile: you can colour it with Marker Pens or the new Stampin’ Blends. You can stamp on it or add colour with sponges, daubers or Sponge Brayers.

Card with quilted effect Christmas trees

Quirky Quilted Christmas Trees

I have been using the Christmas Quilt stamp set today to make a last minute Christmas card.

I stamped the tiny patterned triangles using Old Olive ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock then added the solid triangles using the Cherry Cobbler ink pad before die cutting the ‘tree’ shape using the Quilt Builder Dies. I also die cut a ‘tree’ in Old Olive using one of the patterns from the Merry Little Christmas DSP .

Christmas tree bauble card

I die cut a stitched oval using the Layering Oval Framelits from scrap Whisper White cardstock and mounted it onto a scalloped oval die cut from the same set using Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Cute Christmas card

I added the old olive tree to the right side of the oval with Tombow and the stamped tree to the left side of the oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals after adding the tree stand in Chocolate Chip ink.

Taking the ‘stitched triangle’ image I stamped in Old Olive ink all over a Cherry Cobbler card base to add some texture to the card. I inked up part of the sentiment from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set using an Old Olive Marker – a great option if you only want some of the words, and stamped it onto a ¼” strip of Whisper White and added it to the card front with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The oval topper was then added on Stampin’ Dimensionals. A bow made from ⅛” Gold Metallic Ribbon was added to the top of the oval using a Mini Glue Dot.

Such a cute card. Hope you like it.

Christmas Quilt cards

Christmas Quilt for non Christmas cards

Thank you to the lovely ladies who came to this week’s classes which, by popular request were non seasonal themed.

We used the Christmas Quilt stamp set and co-ordinating Quilt Builder dies to make 3 non Christmas themed cards. This is such an amazingly, versatile set and will be fantastic for any quilters or sewers.

Gorgeous card for quilter or sewer

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Quilt stamp set and Quilt Builder Dies by Stampin’ Up!

The first card we made was stamped. The frame of the quilted piece was stamped in Fresh Fig ink onto Whisper White cardstock and the infilling pieces were stamped in either Berry Burst ink or Pool Party ink.  We stamped the sentiment in Berry Burst ink and punched it out using the Duet Banner Punch and backed it with a Pool Party piece punched with the same punch. We added a strip of Berry Burst cardstock and a piece of ⅛” Soft Sky Ribbon (retired) to the stamped panel.  We took a Berry Burst card base and stamped the frame piece in the upper left and lower right corner using Fresh Fig ink before adding the Whisper White stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added a Glitter Enamel Dot to the centre.

Lovely quilt inspired card

The 2nd card was a softer affair. The ladies embossed a Pool Party panel with the Quilt Top embossing folder and my Big Shot and added it to the Pool Party card base after wrapping it with a piece of Berry Burst Ribbon. They then die cut the quilt frame in either Whisper White, Berry Burst, Pool Party or Fresh Fig and shared the pieces with their neighbours. We adhered the frame die cut to a piece of Adhesive sheet and added the coloured pieces just like a jigsaw puzzle. The whole panel was then added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final card started with a Thick Whisper White card base. We added a dsp panel to the bottom of the card front and an embossed Whisper White panel and covered the join with Berry Burst ribbon. The adorable sentiment was stamped in Berry Burst ink and die cut using the Layering Oval Framelits and backed with a Fresh Fig scalloped oval die cut using the same set of dies. They then die cut the flower in either Whisper White, Berry Burst, Pool Party or Fresh Fig and again, shared the pieces with their classmates.  We added the sentiments and the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals. White Perfect Accents were added to the centre of the flower.

Lovely set of Christmas cards

Hearts Come Home and Hometown framelits for November Classes

For my November classes we used the Hearts Come Home stamp set and the co-ordinating Hometown edgelits to make great Christmas cards. This is such a versatile bundle and could be used to make new home or wedding cards .

Joy to the world Christmas card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hearts Come Home stamp set and Hometown framelits by Stampin’ Up

The first card was relatively simple. We took a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5 ½” by 4”, to the Big Shot and die cut the ‘church’ edgelit, placing the top of the spire as close to the top of the panel as possible.  I deliberately gave the ladies a larger piece of cardstock so that they needn’t try to get everything straight. After die cutting they trimmed the church and houses free of the scrap. The ladies laid the die cut piece onto a panel of Night of Navy cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and using the Fine-tip Glue Pen randomly  added spots of glue all over the panel, covering the spots of glue with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  The sentiment was stamped using Night of Navy ink onto the bottom of the die cut panel. We added a scrap of Tempting Turquoise cardstock to the back of the church and added the die cut panel to the Night of Navy layer with Tombow and the whole panel added to a Thick Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The trees were then die cut from Emerald Envy cardstock and added with Tombow.

 Seasonal stamped Christmas card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hearts Come Home stamp set and Hometown framelits by Stampin’ UpFor the second card we stamped the sentiment from the Merry Patterns stamps set in Pacific Point ink at the  bottom of a piece of Whisper White cardstock which had been die cut using the largest oval Stitched Frame die. The houses were added in Night of Navy ink, Tempting Turquoise ink and Pacific Point ink. The trees were stamped in Emerald Envy ink. We added the oval to a slightly larger Night of Navy scalloped oval using Tombow. We die cut the decorative border from the Swirly Snowflakes framelits from a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and added a piece of Night of Navy crushed seam binding, securing it at the back with Sellotape. The stamped oval was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the ribbon and a bow added at the side.

Seasonal snowy homes card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hearts Come Home stamp set and Hometown Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

For the final card we die cut the houses from a panel of Whisper White cardstock 3” by 2 ½” before die cutting using one of the Layering Circle dies. We ‘scribbled’ over the die cut piece using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. The  die cut houses were the added to an identical Night of Navy circle and matted this onto a slightly larger Tempting Turquoise die cut circle. Using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch we punched out 2 ribbon strips from a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock and glued them to the back of a piece of Night of Navy cardstock 4⅛” by 2”. A strip of Emerald Envy cardstock was added using Tombow and the whole piece added to a Thick Whisper White card base. The circle topper was then added using Stampin’ Dimensionals. We used the Night of Navy marker and the Emerald Envy marker to colour in the sentiment before stamping it in the bottom right hand corner.

Hearts come Home in modern, quirky colours

Hearts Come Home goes modern

Today I have been using the gorgeous Hearts Come Home stamp set with some very non-traditional colours for a quirky modern look.

Christmas card featuring Hearst Come Home stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hearts Come Home stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I began by running a 5½” by 3¾” piece of Rose Red cardstock through the Big Shot with the lacy edgelit die. I love this die it gives such a cool effect. I then wrapped a length of Emerald Envy ⅛” ribbon around the panel, securing it to the back with Sellotape. I glued the whole panel to a Crumb Cake card base and stamped the sentiment from the Merry Patterns stamp set in Emerald Envy ink in the lower right hand corner.

Christmas card made using Hearts come Home stamp set

I took a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the houses in Emerald Envy, Perfect Plum and Rose Red ink and added a tree in the Emerald Envy. I die cut the stamped houses using an oval from the Stitched Shapes framelits and added it with Tombow Liquid Adhesive to a scalloped oval die cut from Perfect Plum cardstock using the Layering Ovals framelits.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals I centred the oval over the ribbon on the card front and added a bow made from the same Emerald Envy ⅛” ribbon. I really like the card and I think the colour combo works really well. What do you think?

A Pink Painted Harvest

I had the gorgeous new Painted Harvest stamp set on my desk today working on projects for September’s Classes.  After designing my 3 class projects I found I had a left over layer of Pear Pizzazz with some stamping down the side. I decided to use this layer as a jumping off point for another project.

I decided on a colour palette of Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Crumb Cake and Always Artichoke in addition to the Pear Pizzazz 5⅜” by 3⅝” panel I already had. I began by adding the Pear Pizzazz panel to a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5½” by 3¾” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I die cut the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies using Whisper White cardstock and backed it with a scalloped oval, die cut using the Layered Oval dies in Basic Black cardstock. I added the oval to the Pear Pizzazz stamped panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock I stamped the 1st layer of the flower in Pink Pirouette and added the second layer in Rose Red, love this colour combination. I added a flower centre in Crumb Cake ink and then fussy cut the flower using the lovely sharp Stampin’ Up! paper snips.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I stamped the leaves in Always Artichoke ink onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock and punched them out using the co-ordinating Leaf Punch, these are the same colours I used when stamping the leaves down the side of the original panel. I added the punched leaves to the back of the die cut flower before adding the flower to the bottom right of the oval using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added the whole piece to a Pink Pirouette card base.

I really like the colour combination of this card, so fresh and pretty.

Beautiful You with an Embossing Paste background

When I saw Embossing Paste in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue which launched earlier this week I jumped up and down with excitement. This is something I have been dying to try out and I couldn’t wait to get it in my hot little hands on it. Unfortunately it wasn’t available on the demo pre-order – yes, we can get our hands on product a month before our customers – whoop, whoop – perks of being a demonstrator. I planned to use it at our recent team training event so had to borrow another brand from a fellow team member to play with. This is one of the cards I demonstrated at that event.

I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and taped it down, to a non-stick craft mat, on all 4 sides using some washi tape. I then placed my Happy Patterns Decorative Mask over the top and taped it down in the same way; you really don’t want either the cardstock or stencil to move. Next I took a heaped tsp of Embossing Paste from the jar and popped it onto the craft sheet in one corner before adding a couple of drops of Lemon Lime Twist Re-inker and mixing together, all I can say is WOW, it looked fantastic. I didn’t have the proper Embossing Paste Tools so made do with small, cake decorating palette knife and an old credit card.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful You meets Embossing Paste by Stampin’ Up!

Taking a dollop of the coloured Embossing Paste, I spread it over the stencil, starting at the top of the Whisper White cardstock and scraping it down towards the bottom. I then, carefully lifted away the stencil and set the Whisper White panel aside to dry – it took about 15 mins but I could have sped that up if I had used my Heat Tool.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful You meets Embossing Paste by Stampin’ Up!

While the Embossing paste was drying I stamped the image from the gorgeous Beautiful You stamp set onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and onto a scrap piece of Pop of Pink dsp – now sadly retired, but any dsp would work. Using my Big Shot I die cut the Whisper White piece using an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits before die cutting a slightly larger scalloped oval from the Layering Oval Framelits from Melon Mambo cardstock. I layered to 2 ovals together using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. Taking a sharp pair of Scissors I trimmed out the dress and the hat from the lady stamped on the scrap of dsp. Using Tombow Liquid Adhesive I added the dress and hat to the Whisper White stamped panel, love the effect this paper piecing gives. I coloured under the brim of the hat with a Lemon Lime Twist Marker and used a Chocolate Chip Marker to colour her hair. I really like using the Calypso Coral Water Color Pencil and a Blender Pen to add a soft skin tone.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful You meets Embossing Paste by Stampin’ Up!

I took 2 pieces of Whisper White baker’s Twine and attached them to the back of the embossed panel and taped them in place. I brought the ends over the top of the panel and adhered them to the front of the panel using tape where they would be hidden by the oval piece.  Using Tombow Liquid Adhesive, I added the now dry embossed panel to a layer of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, having used the We Are Memory Keeper Corner Chomper to round the upper left corner of both pieces. The whole panel was then added to a Melon Mambo card base. The sentiment was stamped using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. Finally I placed the oval on Stampin’ Dimensionals over the top of the Whisper White Baker’s Twine ends. Gorgeous, if I say so myself……..

I really enjoyed playing with embossing paste and have loads more ideas to try out.
