A beautiful trio of Christmas card made using the pretty Poinsettia Petals stamp set and Poinsettia dies by Stampin' Up!

Poinsettia Petals Class

We used the beautiful Poinsettia Petals stamp set and Poinsettia dies for October’s classes and made three pretty cards.

To recreate the 3D embossed Poinsettia card, you will need:

Garden Green card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded on the long side at 4⅛” – Rounded upper left corner.
Real Red – 5½” by 3¾” – Rounded upper left corner.
Real Red – 5⅞” by 4⅛” – for die cutting
Whisper White – 5¼” by 3½” –Rounded upper left corner – for the outside
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper left corner – for the inside

A beautiful Christmas card featuring a pretty 3 D flower. Made using Stampin' Up! products

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Christmas card made using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and Poinsettia dies

The sentiment from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set was stamped in Garden Green ink onto the smaller Whisper White panel. The panel was then run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder.

The embossed layer was added to the Real Red panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the strip of Heartwarming Hugs added using the same adhesive. The whole piece was then added to the Garden Green card front using the same glue.

Using the Poinsettia dies, we cut and embossed the 3 layers of petals from the larger panel of Real Red. We used a sponge Dauber and Cherry Cobbler ink to add depth of colour to the edges of each petal. We used Bone Folders to give the petal shape and adhered the 3 layers together with adhesive.

The flower was added to the card front using liquid adhesive. We used a gorgeous Beaded Pearl to the centre of the flower and a scattering of Red Rhinestones to complete the card.

To recreate the Poinsettia Spray card, you will need:

Real Red card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded on the long side at 4⅛” – Rounded upper left corner.
Garden Green – 5½” by 3¾” – Rounded upper left corner.
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper left corner – x 2 for the inside and the outside

A beautiful Christmas card featuring a pretty poinsettia flower. Made using Stampin' Up! products

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Christmas card made using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set

We stamped the full poinsettia flower in Cherry Cobbler ink onto one of the Whisper White panels. Prior to the class I had stamped the same image onto a Post It Note and cut it out to use as a mask.

With the mask in place we stamped the outline leaves in Garden Green ink and added the infill colour in stamped off Garden Green ink. The berry sprig was stamped in Soft Suede ink and infilled with Bumblebee ink before the mask was removed.

The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was added in Garden Green ink.

The poinsettia was coloured using Cherry Cobbler and Real Red Blends Markers and the centre was coloured with Mango Melody Blends.

The stamped panel was glued to the Garden Green layer then added to the Real Red card base on Dimensionals and a trio of Red Rhinestones added to complete the card.

To recreate the Merry Christmas card, you will need:

Thick Whisper White card – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded on the long side at 4⅛”
Soft Suede – 5 ½” by 3 ¾”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Real Red – 3⅝” by 1⅜”
Whisper White – 3⅝” by 1”

A beautiful Christmas card made using the pretty Poinsettia Petals stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Christmas card made using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set

We used a 1” wide strip of Post It Note and placed it about 1¼” down from the top of the Whisper White panel.

Starting with the largest image we stamped above and below the Post It Note. The leaves and sprigs were added filling in the space above and below the Post It, building up the texture as we went. The colours we used were Real Red, Soft Suede, Bumblebee, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green and Pool Party. The Post It strip was the removed.

The stamped panel was glued to the Soft Suede layer and then to the Thick Whisper White card base.

The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green ink onto the 1” strip of Whisper White and the panel was mounted on the Real Red layer with glue and then added to the card front on Dimensionals and a trio of Red Rhinestones added to complete the card.

I really hope you like the cards.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Snowy Mountain for the Ink. Stamp. Share. Blog Hop

Welcome to the Ink. Stamp. Share Blog Hop. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK and I am thrilled to be joining the super talented team on this blog hop. Our theme today is ‘Showcasing a project we have been working on’. I have chosen to share a piece of home décor with you; a picture of a snowy mountain scene. I hope you like it.

To recreate the Snowy Mountain picture you will need:

Whisper White card – 8” by 6”
Misty Moonlight card – 8* by 6”
Picture frame for a 7” by 5” photograph

If you have been following my blog you will know that the Mountain Air stamp set is a real favourite of mine and today I have combined it with the In The Pines Stamp set and the sweet cabin from the Snow Front stamp set to create this wintery scene.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I began with the piece of Whisper White card which I lined up on my Grid Paper. With a T Square Ruler and a pencil I marked out ½” on all 4 sides to form a border. This border will be covered by the mount.

A snowy mountain scene stamped using the Mountain Air stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I inked up the detailed mountain image from the Mountain Air stamp set with Seaside Spray ink and stamped the image across the panel. I reversed the stamp, inked up the back with the same colour, stamped off on my Grid Paper and stamped the 2nd generation, offset, over the mountains.

The row of trees were stamped below the mountains in Shaded Spruce ink. I punched a 1” circle from a Post It note and applied it over the mountains. Using a  blending brush – you could also use a sponge or a sponge dauber instead – and circular movements I appled Balmy Blue ink across the top of the panel to  give the effect of a sky. The circle mask was then removed.

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I roughly tore a piece to copy paper to give a wavy edge. Using the blending brush and Pool Party ink I moved around the torn copy paper to give the effect of snow banks.

Placing the copy paper back in position I stamped the sweet cabin from the Snow Front stamp set in Basic Gray ink. I added the ‘path’ image in 2nd generation Basic Gray ink.

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene

I added the row of trees from the In the Pines stamp set in the same way using Early Espresso ink. I added the in-fill stamp in Shaded Spruce ink. The large tree on the left was stamped in Early Espresso and Shaded Spruce.

Using my Paper Trimmer I cut out the middle of the Misty Moonlight panel leaving a 3/4£” border all the way around. This will be the mount for the picture.

I used a simple white photo frame to show off this simple picture.

Today I am sharing a gorgeous bauble bird Christmas card inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest recently made using the Have a Hoot stamp set which unfortunately was not watermarked. I decided to CASE the card using the Free As A Bird Stamp set.

To recreate the Bauble Bird card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – Rounded Upper Left corner
Whisper White – 5⅝” by 3⅞” – Rounded Upper Left corner

Using a Basic Black Marker I coloured in the top of one of the baubles and stamped it towards the top of the panel of Whisper White.

A floral birthday card using the Beautiful Bouquet and Perennial Birthday stamp sets by Stampin' Up!

Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 catalogue

Hello and welcome to the May Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop where our theme is ‘Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 Catalogue’.  If you have joined me from the lovely Libby Dyson, I am sure you loved her project.

There are so many lovely things which are retiring that I was spoilt for choice. In fact everything I have used will be retiring from the catalogue with the exception of the Whisper White card stock!

To recreate the Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 Catalogue card you will need:

Grapefruit Grove card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Blueberry Bushel – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner – one for the inside
Blueberry Bushel – 5” by 1⅛”
Whisper White – 5” by 1”

I began by stamping the sentiment from the Perennial Birthday stamp set in Lovely Lipstick ink. I love the size and the font of this Happy Birthday, I will miss it. I placed the stamped sentiment strip at an angle onto one of the larger Whisper White panels and lightly drew down each side in pencil to give me a guide to where I should stamp my flowers.

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop theme is Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 catalogue

I removed the sentiment piece and glued it to the thin strip of Blueberry Bushel card using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and set it to one side.

With this type of masked card I also start by stamping the largest images and working may way down to the smallest images which I use to fill in. I used the 5 retiring 2018 – 2020 In Colors to stamp my images – they were stamped in this order Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel. I used the gorgeous Beautiful Bouquet set for this part of the card. I am so going to miss this set, love all the flowers and the huge number of great sentiments.

Stamp 'N Hop Blog Hop using the Celebrate With Cake stamp set to create a child card

Girls/Boys for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

Welcome to this months Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop where our theme is Girls/Boys. If you have hopped over from Libby Dyson’s blog welcome and I hope you will hop on to see what the other talented demos have to share with us this month.

Like many I find children’s card a bit of a challenge and after a lot of messing about I have decided to go simple and slightly left field.

To recreate the Girls/Boys card you will need:

Bermuda Bay card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Terracotta Tile – 5½” by 3¾”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
Scrap Whisper White

I took one of the panels of Whisper White and masked off a strip from top to bottom using Post It notes. I used a Sponge to apply Pool Party ink to the exposed strip of card stock.

Pretty get well themed cards made using the Under My Umbrella Bundle from Stampin' Up!

Under My Umbrella for February Classes

Today I am sharing the cards made at this months classes featuring the Under My Umbrella stamp set and Umbrella Builder Punch.

We started by stamping the floral images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink randomly over a panel of Whisper White card stock measuring 3½” by 2¾”. The flowers were then coloured in using the following Blends Markers: Daffodil Delight combo, Melon Mambo combo, Bermuda Bay combo and Granny Apple Green combo.

We stamped the wellies onto the decorated panel in the right hand corner and cutting them out using sharp scissors.

We used a pre-punched template and the Stamparatus to line up the 2 umbrella images so that they would punch out easily. They were stamped on the decorated panel in Memento Tuxedo Black and punched out using the Umbrella Builder punch. These images would form the basis of the three cards.

Pretty get well themed cards made using the Under My Umbrella Bundle from Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – Pretty cards made using the Under My Umbrella stamp set and Umbrella Builder Punch

To recreate the Folded Umbrella card you will need:

Melon Mambo card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Basic Black – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – x 2 one for the outside and one for the inside.
Basic Black – 3” by 1”
Scrap Smoky Slate

Using PostIt Notes were masked off 1” from the left and 1” form the bottom of a Whisper White panel. WE used the embossing Buddy to remove static before randomly stamping the grouped flowers using Versamark ink.

The panel was then covered with White Embossing Powder which was heat set using the Heat Tool. We then used a sponge to apply Melon Mambo ink to the embossed section creating an ombre effect. The PostIt notes were then removed.

The umbrella handle was punched out of the scrap Smoky Slate card stock and added to the back of the umbrella using a Mini Glue Dot and added to the card front on a Dimensional. The panel was then added to the Basic Black layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive before being added to the Melon Mambo card base with the same glue.

The sentiment from the Healing Hugs stamp set was stamped in Versmark, covered with White Embossing Powder and heat set as above. The banner end was created using the Banner Triple Punch.

Pretty get well themed cards made using the Under My Umbrella Bundle from Stampin' Up!

To recreate the Welly Boots card you will need:

Daffodil Delight card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Basic Black – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Melon Mambo 3” by 3”
Whisper White 3” by 3”
Whisper White Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – x 2 one for the outside and one for the inside.

We die cut a circle from the square of Whisper White and a slightly larger scalloped circle from the square of Melon Mambo cardstock. The sentiment from the Sending You Thoughts stamp set was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the ‘wellies’ added above using the liquid glue.  We placed the circle onto a Whisper White panel, over hanging the right side and lightly drew round it in pencil. This would act as a guide when we stamped the boots. The two circles were then adhered them together with liquid glue and the right hand side trimmed off.

The welly image was stamped around the pencil circle using alternating Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo ink. The panel was then glued to the Basic Black layer and then to the Daffodil Delight card base. The decorated circle was added with Dimensionals.

To recreate the rainy day card you will need;

Bermuda Bay card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Basic Black – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Whisper White Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – x 2 one for the outside and one for the inside.
Scrap Smoky Slate

We used a piece of Whisper White card stock and die cut a circle from the centre. We used the negative space as a mask to mask off an area of  one of the Whisper White panels. Using Sponges we blended Bermuda Bay ink lightly onto the circle before stamping the raindrops randomly in the same ink. The sentiment form the Well Said stamp set was stamped in Black in the lower right corner of the inked panel.

The handle was punched out from scrap Smoky Slate card stock using the Umbrella Builder Punch and added to the open umbrella with a Mini Glue dot. The umbrella was added to the card front on Dimensionals. The stamped layer was glued to the Basic Black panel and added to the Bermuda Bay card base.

I love the vibrant colour palette of these cards, they are sure to brighten up somebodies day.

I cut a label using the Stitched Nested Label dies and stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy towards the bottom. The smaller boat was then stamped twice in the Night of Navy ink.

The larger boat was stamped in the same ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the Smooth Sailing dies and coloured using the Seaside Spray combo, light Balmy Blue & light Night of Navy Blends Markers.

Using the 1” Circle Punch I punched circle from a PostIt Note and stuck it to the top of the stitched label. I sponged on some Blamy Blue ink using a Sponge Dauber then removed the punched circle and added some So Saffron ink again using a Sponge Dauber.

I added the 2 strips of Night of Navy cardstock to the card front having flagged the ends. The Stitched Label was then added over the top using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the lager boat added on Dimensionals.

I stamped the larger boat in Night of Navy ink onto the Whisper White panel and added it to the inside of the card. The same image was stamped onto the front of the envelope.

Rooted In Nature – Another Sneak Peek

Today I have had my first play with the new Rooted in Nature Stamp set which will be available in my online shop from the 1st June and I love it. I used it to make a simple thank you card for a friend.

I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and using Post It tape I masked off a rectangular area to the right of centre. I inked up a wedge of Stampin’ Sponge with Rich Razzelberry ink and applied it to the unmasked rectangle, starting at the bottom and letting the ink fade towards the top. I then peeled off the Post It tape to reveal the inked panel. I love the effect this gives.

I inked up the gorgeous tall pine type tree with Early Espresso ink and stamped it partially over the inked rectangle. I love the stark look of this tree, the images are almost photographic. I added this stamped layer to a Thick Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4⅛” by ⅜” using the Early Espresso Ink pad. I added this stamped strip to a strip of Rich Razzelberry cardstock 4⅛” by ½“using Tombow liquid Adhesive and added it to the card front using Tombow.

This is such a simple card but so striking. I absolutely love this tree. Hope you like the card.
