A pretty strawberry lolly card made using the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Berry Delightful dsp by Stampin' Up!

Strawberry Lolly for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampers Showcase blog hop, our last one of 2020 and this month’s theme is ‘Sale-A-Bration’.  I really, really wanted to use the gorgeous Berry Delightful dsp – can’t believe it is a free sale-a-Bration choice along with the co-ordinating stamp set Berry Blessings.

If you have hopped over from Wendy Lee Or you are starting with me, Mo Rootes I hope you will find lots of inspiration on this hop.

To recreate my strawberry lolly card, you will need:

Poppy Parade – 9½” by 4” scored at 4” – Rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5¼” by 3¾” – Rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 3⅞ by 3⅞” – Rounded upper right corner
Berry Delightful dsp – 3¾” by 3¾” – Rounded upper right corner
Granny Apple Green – 3” by 3”
Whisper White 3” by 3”
Whisper White 5½” by 1” – scored at 1”
Oh So Ombre dsp – 4¼” by ¾”
Scrap Whisper White

The piece of Berry Delightful dsp reminded me of a picnic blanket my parents had when I was a child, summer days and strawberries…… I can’t wait….

I adhered the dsp to the square panel of Whisper White card using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I used the same glue to add the panel to the card front.

I took the long thin strip of Whisper White, folded on the 1” score line and glued the 1” square tab to the inside of the card base.  I stamped the strawberry in Poppy Parade ink and the top in Granny Apple Green ink onto the largest panel of Whisper White card and adhered it to the inside of the card to hide the stuck down tab.

I glued down the Oh So Ombre dsp- another free choice in the Sale-A-Bration brochure – to the front of the Whisper White strip using the liquid glue.

Using my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and the layering Circle Dies I die cut a plain circle from the smallest piece of Whisper White and a scalloped circle from the Granny Apple Green square.  I adhered the Granny Apple Green scalloped circle behind the 1” wide strip using the liquid glue.

I stamped the lolly tick in Crumb Cake ink onto the White Circle and added the lolly in Poppy Parade, love the textured look of these stamps. The stamped circle was then added to the front of the Granny Apple Green scalloped circle using Dimensionals.

I stamped the flower and leaves from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and added then to the card front on Dimensionals. They were positioned so that they held the circle panel in position.

The sentiment from the Many Messages stamp set was cut with the Messages dies and was added to the card front with glue. I added a trio of Red Rhinestones to complete the card.

I love it and I hope you do too.

Please hop on to see what the lovely Leonie Stuart has to share with us today.

Flowering Foils

Today I am sharing a sweet card made made for a new team member using the gorgeous Flowering Foils designer series paper (dsp) and the stunning So Very Vellum paper. Both of these items are part of this years Sale-A-Bration. With a £45 order you can choose either the dsp or the vellum – with a £90 order you can get both but don’t hang about as Sale-A-Bration ends today.

Flowering Foils dsp
Bermuda Bay – 5 by ¼”
Bermuda bay – 5½” by ¼”

I started by fussy cutting a flower from a sheet of the Flowering Foils dsp using my sharp Paper Snips. I love that this particular pattern is foiled in both rose gold and silver – so, so pretty.

A watercolor male birthday card made using the Sale-a-Bration stamp set By the Bay

By the Bay for a Masculine Birthday card

Today I am sharing the card I made for my husband’s birthday. I used the Sale-a-Bration stamp set called By the Bay which has some lovely pencil style sketches on a seaside theme.

Making the By the Bay card

I started with a card base of Balmy Blue cardstock 8” by 7 ½” and scored it at 4” on the long side to make a long thin card.

A watercolor male birthday card made using the Sale-a-Bration stamp set By the Bay

www.crafty-rootes.com – A masculine birthday card made using the By the Bay stamp set

I cut a piece of Watercolor Paper 5¼” by 2” and inserted it into my Stamparatus. I placed the image of the group of seabirds onto the Water color Paper, closed the panel of the Stamparatus to pick up the stamp. I then inked the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it down. Using the Stamparatus gives me the chance to re-stamp the image if it isn’t dark enough. I moved the stamp along the panel to give a row of birds and set it aside to dry.

Using an Aqua painter I applied ink to color the image. I used Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel inks for the water, Gray Granite for the birds and Mossy Meadow for the background.

A very clean and simple card, hope you like it.

Making the Painted Seasons card

I started with a scarp piece of Whisper White cardstock. I inked up the stunning flower image with Poppy Parade ink and before stamping it down I added Cherry Cobbler ink in the centre and around the edges of the flower using a Sponge Dauber. This is a distINKtive syle stamp so looks very 3 dimensional when stamped and the added darker shade of red really enhances this look. I die cut the image using my Big Shot and the co-ordinating Four Seasons Framelit dies.

A pretty floral card made for the global design project #174 challenge

GDP#174 challenge – Lasting Lily

Today I am sharing a card made for the Global Design Project (GDP#174) challenge which this week is a sketch. I found myself drawn yet again to the Lasting Lily stamp set for this project, I can’t seem to put this set down, it is gorgeous and FREE with a £90 order from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.

Making the card

I chose to keep the oval from the sketch but changed the orientation making mine a portrait card instead of a landscape card. I die cut the largest stitched oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies and stamped the large lily image from the Lasting Lily stamp set in Poppy Parade ink, this is a distINKtive stamp giving great dimension to the stamped image. I then added the stalk and leaf in Granny Apple Green ink. I had planned to leave the oval with just one flower but felt it looked a bit bare so added the smaller flower and stalk using the same ink.

I then tucked some of the leaves from the gorgeous Butterfly Elements under the sentiment and the oval. To finish off the card front I added some of the Glitter Enamel Dots.

CAS Colours & Sketches #305 Challenge using the Home to Roost Sale-a-Bration stamp set

Home to Roost for the CAS Colours & Sketches #305

I love a good sketch challenge, don’t you, they really push me out of my comfort zone and make me look at my crafty stash in new ways. Today, I am playing along with the CAS Colours and Sketches #304 challenge. This sketch looks deceptively simple but I found it really hard to create something I liked.

Making the card

I quickly decided that the cute chicken from the Home to Roost stamp set was the image I wanted to use for this sketch. I chose 2 patterns from the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper stack (dsp) as the rustic look of these papers goes so well with this stamp set. I cut one piece of dsp 3” by 3” and the second piece at 2 ½” by 2 ½” and added them to the front of a Thick Very Vanilla card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the chicken in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla 2 ½” by 2 ½” and die cut it using my Big Shot and the Layering Circle Framelits. I die cut a slightly larger scalloped circle from Crumb Cake cardstock.

Using the gorgeous Blends pens in Crumb Cake, Rich Razzelberry and Old Olive I coloured in the chicken. The stamped layer was added to the scalloped circle with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The whole piece was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Early Espresso onto a ⅜” strip of Very Vanilla cardstock and added it to the card front.

I wondered if I should add some bling to the card but I really don’t feel it needs so decided that less is more and left it alone…….so hard to do…..
