A trio of cards for my May 2025 classes using the Sunrise Sailing stamp set, Hybrid Embossing Folder and Dies from Stampin' Up!

Sunrise Sailing Classes

Today I am sharing the cards I designed for my May 2025 classes using the Sunrise Sailing stamp set, embossing folder and dies.

Colours used to make these cards are:

Arched card

Blueberry Bushel card – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Basic White – 5” by 3¾” x 2
Basic White – 2⅛” by ⅜”
Coastal Cabana – 4⅛ by 1⅛” x 2
Scrap Basic White

Using the largest arch from the Everyday Arches Dies I cut the Blueberry Bushel card base. The trick is to place the die with the left-hand cutting edge overhanging the fold of the card front. I also die cut 2 smaller arches form the 5” by 3¾” panels of Basic White card saving one for the inside of the card.

Blueberry Bushel ink was lightly added to the remaining white arch using a Blending Brush.

From the 2 strips of Coastal Cabana card we die cut the wavy edges and adhered them to bottom of the inked arch, one above the other to form the sea.

The boat was stamped on scrap Basic White card using Blueberry Bushel ink, the inside colour added to the sails with Poppy Parade ink and the boat body stamped with Coastal Cabana ink. The boat was then die cut using the Sunrise Sailing Dies. We also die cut a couple of clouds from the same scrap card.

The boat was then mounted onto the decorated arch on Dimensionals. The clouds were added flat and the excess trimmed off. The birds were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The arch was then glued to the card front.

The sentiment, from the Darling Dinos was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink onto scrap Basic White card. I trimmed it down and added it to the card front.

Embossed Sailboat card

Poppy Parade card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Blueberry Bushel – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Basic White – 4¾” by 3”
Basic White – 2⅛” by ⅜”
Basic White – 3” by 2½”
Basic White – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
1” by ½” strips – White, Coastal Cabana & Blueberry Bushel

The 4¾” by 3” piece of Basic White card was embossed using the Sunrise sailing 3D Embossing Folder. The colour was stamped on the sails with Blueberry Bushel ink and the bottom of the boat was stamped with poppy Parade ink.

The birds were stamped with memento Tuxedo Black ink and the panel was glued to the Blueberry Bushel layer. This was added to the Poppy Parade card base on Dimensionals.

We tucked the 3 strips of coloured card under the upper right side of the raised panel.

Basic White – 4¾” by 3” – rounded upper right corner
Basic White – 2⅛” by ⅜”
Basic White – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside – rounded upper right corner

Blueberry Bushel ink was lightly added above the sea using a Blending Brush and a trio of birds were added with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The panel was then glued to the Blueberry Bushel layer and then to the Coastal Cabana card front.

I die cut a medium sized boat from scrap Blueberry Bushel card and sails from scrap Poppy Parade card and adhered the two pieces together. The boat was then added to the card front on Dimensionals.

3 cards designed for my February 2024 classes using the Trusty Tools stamp set, Trusty Tools die and the Trusty Toolbox dsp by Stampin' Up!

Trusty Tools Classes

Today, I am sharing the cards I designed for my February Trusty Tools classes. Each of the ladies coming to classes were given a 6” by 6” pack of the Trusty Toolbox dsp to use when making the projects. I love giving dsp samples to my class attendees, especially if we use some of the paper in classes. Many of the ladies only craft when they come to class so I like to give them new techniques and things to try.

Colours in these cards are:

Pop-Up Front Panel card

This card was inspired by Mel Brown of Inspired Crafts

Thick Basic White card base – 10½” by 4” – scored at 5¾”, 6¾”, 8¾” & 9¾”
Thick Basic White – 5¾” by 2⅝” – scored at 4” & 5”
Copper Clay – 4” by 2½”
Trusty Toolbox dsp – 3¾” by 3½”
Trusty Toolbox dsp – 3¾” by 1¾”
Basic White – 3¼” by ¾”
Scarp Basic White – 4⅛” by 2¾”

We each choose the dsp patterns we wanted to use and cut them down to size. They were glued to the larger panel of Thick Basic White card. We folded on the score lines and added Tear & Tape to the 1” tab, folding it over to form the bottom of the card.

The Stars At Night stamp set and Dies and the Sending Cheer stamp set used to make a trio of tags for December classes

Stars At Night classes

Today, I am sharing the hanging ornament and trio of tags I designed for my December classes. I used the Stars At Night stamp set and dies to make the projects.

Colours used in the projects are:

Hanging Ornament

Gold Hoop – mine was about 4”
2 Circles of card stock or dsp which fit inside the gold hoop – I used the Shining Brightly dsp
Scrap Basic White card
Gold Ribbon

The ribbon was wrapped from the top to the bottom of the hoop, wrapped around and brought up to the top where it was wrapped around again and then tied in a double knot. The ends of the ribbon were then knotted to form a loop to hang the hoop.-

The Stars At Night stamp set and Dies and the Shining Brightly dsp by Stampin' Up!used to make a hanging ornament for December classes

www.crafty-rootes.com – A hanging ornament made using the Stars At Night stamp set and Dies and the Shining Brightly dsp for December classes

We slipped one die cut circle – I used the Stylish Circle dies to cut these from the Shining Brightly stamp set – behind the hoop and under the ribbon. The second  circle was glued on top, sandwiching the ribbon in the middle.

We used the Stamparatus – any stamp positioner would work – to stamp 3 large stars which I had die cut using the Stars at Night Dies.

The stamped stars were then folded in half from top to bottom. We used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score the stars down the centre line to make the folding easier.

The 3 stars were then glued together, one in the middle and one half of the other 2 glued on either side of the middle star. The back of the multiple star piece was then glued to the middle of the dsp inside the hoop.

Star at Night Tags

3 Starry Sky tags – cut using the Merriest Trees Dies
3 Basic White tags – cut using the Merriest Trees Dies
Scrap Basic White and Gold Foil to die cut stars

Using a Blending Brush we added Starry Sky ink around the edges of 2 of the Starry Sky tags. The third tag was inked around the edges using another Blending Brush and Whisper White craft ink.

Run the 5¼” by 3½” panel of Basic White card through a cut & emboss machine with one of the folders from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders. The embossed panel was then glued to the Pebbled Path panel. A couple of strips of Tear ‘n Tape were added to the embossed pane and a loop of Real Red Ribbon added to the front.

Using Pebbled Path ink we stamped the ‘road’ and 3 – 5 times across the bottom of the die cut circle. Blending Brushes were used to add Pebbled Path ink along the bottom and Coastal Cabana ink to the remainder of the circle.

Using Pecan Pie ink we stamped the outline trees, adding the canopy with Garden Green ink.

The outline of the truck was stamped in Pebbled Path ink onto scrap Basic White card and the infill added with Real Red ink. The truck was punched out using the Truck Builder Punch and added over the ribbon on Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from the Something Fancy Stamp set was stamped in Pebbled Path ink onto scrap Basic White card which was then trimmed down and a strip of scrap Garden Green card added to the bottom. The whole piece was the glued to the card base.
