A sweet thank you card made using the Needle & Thread stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Quilted Needle & Thread

Today I am sharing a gorgeous card…..even if I say so myself, made using the Needle and Thread stamp set.

Making the Quilted card.

A sweet thank you card made using the Needle & Thread stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Quilted-Needle-&-Thread-by-Stampin’-Up!

I started with a panel of Soft Sea Foam measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” and ran it through the Big Shot with the Tufted Embossing Folder. I wrapped a length of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the embossed panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape. I added the panel to a Soft Sea Foam card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using Shaded Spruce ink and scrap Whisper White cardstock I stamped the leaf image twice and cut them apart. I stamped the large and small flower in Berry Burst ink and the trio of small flowers in Blushing Bride ink and ran them through the Big Shot with the Needlepoint Elements dies.

I added the leaves and the large flower on Stampin’ Dimensionals in the lower left corner over the Polka Dot Ribbon and tucked the other flowers around using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink onto a scrap of Soft Sea Foam and trimmed it out using my sharp scissors. I tucked it in under the leaves and flowers with a Mini Glue Dot. I added a bow in the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon below the flowers with a Mini Glue Dot. As a final touch I added a scattering of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

I think this is just such a sweet card and I love the Soft Sea Foam with the Berry Burst. I hope you like it

A lovely fresh looking thank you card made using the First Frost stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop

Stampers Showcase Blog Hop

Welcome to the first Stampers Showcase Blog Hop, I am thrilled to be part of this exciting new venture and am looking forward to hopping with some of my fellow demonstrators from around the world. If you have begun the hop with me, my name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. Our theme this month is ‘Thanks’ – I don’t know about you but I always need thank you cards.

I have chosen the First Frost stamp set to make my card. This set has carried over from the Autumn/Winter catalogue and I find these sets often get forgotten in the excitement of all that the Spring/Summer catalogue brings.

Making the Stampers Showcase card

A lovely fresh looking thank you card made using the First Frost stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – a sweet thank you card made for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop using the First Frost stamp set

I began by taking a Whisper White layer measuring 5¼” by 3½” and rounding the upper left corner with the Detailed Trio Punch. I then lightly drew a line in pencil about 1¼” from the top, I drew another pencil line about 1½” below that. This is to help me with stamp placement.

A lovely fresh looking thank you card made using the First Frost stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – a sweet thank you card made for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop using the First Frost stamp set

I inked up the largest flower using Berry Burst ink and stamped it 3 times going above and below both pencil lines. I inked up the small flower in Balmy Blue ink and randomly stamped again above and below the lines. Next I inked up the top of the long leafy image in Lemon Lime Twist ink and filled in some of the gaps. Finally I inked up the thistle image in Fresh Fig ink and randomly added stamped them on both sides of the line. I set the panel aside to dry before rubbing out the pencil lines.

I mounted the stamped panel onto a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” with a rounded upper left corner and then added the whole piece to a Fresh Fig card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I ran the ‘thanks’ from the Well Written dies through my Big Shot 3 times with scrap Fresh Fig cardstock and glued each layer one on top of the other using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4⅛” by 1⅜” and stamped the ‘for everything’ from the Well Said stamp set in Berry Burst ink and added the ‘thanks’ just above with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The Whisper White layer was added to a piece of Fresh Fig 4⅛” by 1½” using liquid adhesive and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the piece to the card front.

www.crafty-rootes.com – a sweet thank you card made for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop using the First Frost stamp set

Using the sweet little Bitty Blooms Punches I stamped flowers and flower centres from scrap Fresh Fig, Balmy Blue and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. I added the centres with Mini Glue dots and used the same adhesive to adhere the flowers to the card front. As a final touch I painted the small flowers with Clear Wink of Stella.

I love this colour combo, so fresh and cheerful looking.

Please continue to enjoy the hop by clicking on the ‘next’ button. See you next month.

A lovely rainbow card using a flower from the Amazing Life stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Amazing Life for the GDP #176 – CASE the designer

Today I am sharing a card I designed for the Global Design Project #176 – CASE the Designer Challenge. I loved the rainbow colours in Steffi’s beautiful card and made that my starting point.

Making the card

I began by choosing the image I wanted to use. It had to be fairly small and ideally a fairly open image. In the end I went for the sweet little flower stamp in the Amazing Life stamp set.

A lovely rainbow card using a flower from the Amazing Life stamp set from Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Amazing Life stamp set used for the Global Design Project #176 CASE the designer challenge

Next I looked at colours; I knew I wanted a rainbow to mimic Steffi’s card and tried out a few variations of colour before settling for – Berry Burst, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel and Gorgeous Grape – in hind sight I should have gone for Lovelly Lipstick as my first colour but completely forgot about it……..it’s been that kind of day.

After stamping the flower in each of the colours onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5¼” by 3½” I rounded the upper left corner with my Detailed Trio Punch. I added a layer of Basic Gray layer 5⅜” by 3⅝” behind the Whisper White panel having rounded the same corner and using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I added the whole stamped panel to the front of a Granny Apple Green card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Basic Gray on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock ⅜” wide. This was then trimmed down and one end flagged using my scissors. I added the sentiment to a scrap of Granny Apple Green ½” wide and trimmed to fit. This was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the flower again in Grapefruit Grove onto a panel of Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” which was them glued inside the card. The same image was then stamped in the same colour onto a Whisper White envelope. To complete the card I added a few of the gorgeous Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots.

Bloom by Bloom stamp set used to make a card for the Inspire. Create #035 Challenge

Bloom by Bloom for the Inspire, Create Challenge #035

Another sketch challenge to play along with today, this time it is the turn of the Inspire. Create #035 challenge. I loved this sketch and knew right away that I wanted to use the stunning Bloom by Bloom stamp set.

Making the card

I began by die cutting the largest Stitched Circle using my Big Shot and the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I randomly stamped a variety of images from the Bloom by Bloom stamp set in Flirty Flaming, So Saffron, Mint Macaron and Blueberry Bushel inks. I began with the largest flower, then the leaves and finishing with the smallest flower.

I added a strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock ⅜” wide and trimmed it down. I added it to the stamped circle with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the sentiment from the Apron of Love stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink then stamped it again…….just because I could and added it onto the Flirty Flamingo strip.

I really felt the card needed a little something extra so stamped the smallest flower in Blueberry Bushel ink onto the card front itself and added some of the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls in Mint Macaron to complete the card.

I am really happy with this card. I hope you like it.

Vibrant Vases for the GDP #173 Colour Challenge

Today I have been playing along with the Global Design Project (GDP#173) colour challenge which this week features Soft Sea Foam, So Saffron and Petal Pink, all from the Subtles collection of colours. I used the gorgeous Vibrant Vases stamp set to make my card.

Making the card

I began with a piece of Whisper White cardstock 3 ¾” by 3”. I inked up the solid vase with So Saffron ink, stamped off once onto my Grid Paper then stamped onto the Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the detailed vase image over the top in full strength So Saffron ink. I love the added dimension you get when you stamp off the solid image.

I die cut the stamped vase image using my Big Shot and the lovely new Stitched Rectangles dies. I chose my sentiment from the vibrant vases stamp set, masked off the word ‘always’ and then inked up the ‘you are loved’ in So Saffron ink and stamped the image at the top of the stitched rectangle. The whole stamped piece was then added to a panel of Petal Pink cardstock measuring 3⅝” by 2¾” using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Taking the small bokeh dot image from the Beauty Abounds stamp set I stamped the dots in a wavy line across the front of a Thick Whisper White card base in all 3 colours. The stamped panel was added to the card front on Stampin Dimensionals and a scattering of Iridescent Sequins added to give a little sparkle.

I have to say that these are not colours I would normally have chosen but I really love this card. I hope you like it.

Today I am sharing a sweet card made using the Floral Frames stamp set for the Global Design Project #169 colour challenge. We were asked to use Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade and Pool Party to make our project, a gorgeous colour combo. I have had this stamp set for a while and not used it but I certainly will use it more as it is stunning.

Update – this card has been chosen as one of the winners of the GDP challenge.

Making the card

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5¼” by 3½”. I inked up the large floral image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it onto the Whisper White panel. I stamped the double and triple flower images at the same time using the same ink and some scrap Whisper White cardstock. Beauty Abounds for the Just Add Ink Colour Challenge #438

I have made a great card today using the Beauty Abounds stamp set for the Just Add Ink #438 challenge. The theme was to make a project using Lovely Lipstick and Granny Apple Green plus one other colour of our choice and I choose Gray Granite.

Bloom By Bloom stamp set and Spring colours used for the December Stamp 'N hop blog hop

Bloom by Bloom

Hello and welcome to December’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop where the theme this month is our favourite from the upcoming Spring/Summer catalogue.  My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK.  I have chosen to use the stunning stamp set called Bloom by Bloom to make my card. I love all the bold floral images in this set and chose to stamp with some bright Spring like colours.

Making the card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅞” by 3½”. I die cut a circle from the Layering Circles Framelit Dies, placed it on the Whisper White layer partially hanging off and lightly drew round it to help with the placement of the flowers.

Bloom By Bloom stamp set and Spring colours used for the December Stamp 'N hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bloom By Bloom stamp set used for the December Stamp ‘N hop blog hop

I stamped the leaves and flowers starting with the largest images and ending with the smallest one which were used to infill. I used Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana & Blueberry Bushel inks for the stamping. I added the stamped panel to a Flirty Flamingo panel 4” by 3⅝” having rounded the upper left corner of both panels. I erased the light pencil drawn circle.

Bloom By Bloom stamp set and Spring colours used for the December Stamp 'N hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bloom By Bloom stamp set used for the December Stamp ‘N hop blog hop

I stamped the sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set in Granny Apple Green onto the die cut Whisper White circle. I used a couple of the small flowers to decorate the circle before adding it to a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel scalloped circle die cut using the same die set. I trimmed off the right side of the circle with my Trimmer and added it to the stamped layer on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I took a Thick Whisper White card base and placed a large scrap of Blueberry Bushel cardstock and tilted it at an angle until it looked right, I turned the card over and trimmed off the excess. The Blueberry Bushel was then added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the stamped panel added on top with the same glue. To finish off the card I added a scattering of Basic Rhinestones.

Such a pretty card, I am really happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it.

A First Frost Double Z Fold card using Stampin' Up! products

First Frost Double Z Fold Card

Today I am sharing a sweet card I made for the special birthday of one of my oldest friends. I used the gorgeous First Frost stamp set and the co-ordinating Frosted Bouquet dies to make a pretty floral card.

Making the card

A First Frost Double Z Fold card using Stampin' Up! products

www.crafty-rootes.com – A Double Z fold First Frost card for a special birthday

I started with 2 pieces of Thick Whisper White cardstock, one measuring 11” by 5½” and the other measuring 9¼” by 4¼”.  Using my paper trimmer I scored both pieces at 2 ¾” and 5 ½”. I cut 3 panels of Frosted Floral dsp, one at 5¼” by 5¼” and 2 at 5¼” by 2 ½” and glued these to the larger of the Thick Whisper White card base.

A First Frost Double Z Fold card using Stampin' Up! products

www.crafty-rootes.com – A Double Z fold First Frost card for a special birthday

I rounded 2 double corners of the smaller Thick Whisper White panel with the Decorative Trio Punch. I then added panels of Grapefruit Grove cardstock – one measuring 3⅞” by 3⅜” and two measuring 3⅞” by 2½” having rounded the same corners.

I cut a panel of Whisper White cardstock 3¾” by 3¼” and stamped the leaves and sprigs in, 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Old Olive and Grapefruit Grove ink

I cut two panels of Whisper White measuring 2¾” by 2⅜”. I stamped the same leaves and sprigs onto the panels using the Old Olive and Grapefruit Grove inks as before. The stamped panels were then  added to the Grapefruit Grove panels using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

A First Frost Double Z Fold card using Stampin' Up! products

www.crafty-rootes.com – A Double Z fold First Frost card for a special birthday

I stamped the numbers from the retired Number of Years stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink and die cut them using the Big Shot and the large Number Dies before adding them to the larger stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The words from the same stamp set were stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.

I stamped the lovely roses onto Whisper White cardstock; 1 large and 1 small in Cherry Cobbler and a second small one in Grapefruit Grove. These were then die cut using the Frosted Bouquet dies and the Big Shot. I added the large Cherry Cobbler and small Grapefruit Grove roses to the front panel and the smaller Cherry Cobber rose to the last panel.

I love the colour combo of this card and hope Jo likes it.
