Embossing with the Blizzard Thinlit die

At team training last week Mikaela – my team leader – brought the gorgeous Blizzard Thinlit die and the new Embossing Mats for us to try out and asked us to make a card featuring the embossed piece…….this is mine.

Making the Blizzard Card

To emboss the panel we started with a piece of Pool Party cardstock big enough to cover the entire die. We used the Big Shot Platform, then the die face up, then the cardstock, then the thin blue silicon sheet and lastly the white embossing plate and ran the sandwich through the Big Shot. The effect is stunning and you can use either the positive or negative sides. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut the panel down to 4¾” by 3⅜” and rounded the upper left and lower right corners using the Detailed trio Punch.

I added the embossed layer to a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5” by 3⅝” after rounding the same corners.  This panel was then added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to a Night of Navy card base with identically rounded corners.

I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it using an oval from the Stitched Shapes dies. I stamped the sweet little snowflake cluster on the bottom of the die cut piece in Pool Party ink.

I added a small piece of Tear ‘N Tape to the card front, wrapped some Silver Metallic Thread around my hand and added it to the Tear ‘N Tape. The sentiment piece was then added over the thread on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Taking some scrap Whisper White cardstock I die cut some of the snowflakes using the Blizzard die and added one to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To finish I added some Basic Rhinestones.
