Masculine Lilypad Lake card

Today I am sharing a masculine birthday card made using the lilypad Lake stamp set and some masking. The card was inspired by a card made by Ruth at Artful Stampin.

To recreate the masculine Lilypad Lake card you will need:

Bermuda Bay card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Crushed Curry – 5 ½” by 3 ¾”
Very Vanilla – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
Scrap Very Vanilla

I began by using PostIt notes to mask off an area in the centre of one of the Very Vanilla panel. I inked up the long thin striped image using Bermuda Bay ink and stamped it five or six times from the bottom allowing the layers to overlap. This gives a lovely ombre look. I repeated this step three times to build up the colour.

Using the 1” Circle Punch I punched  a circle from a PostIt note and adhered it to the top of the panel. I inked up the striped stamp again and stamped four or five times up and down from the midline without re-inking using Crushed Curry ink.

With the PostIt masks still in place I inked the edges of the Bermuda Bay striped area with a Stampin Sponge bringing the colour in to the middle. I then used another piece of sponge to add Crushed Curry ink to the top half of the panel. I then removed all the masks to reveal the edges.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the trio of boats and used the following Blends Markers to colour them in – dark Night of Navy, dark Bermuda Bay and dark Cherry Cobbler. I managed to get a small smuge when stamping the boats so drew in a trio of birds to disguise it!

The stamped and inked panel was added to the Crushed Curry layer using Multipurpose liquid Adhesive. The layer was then added to the Bermuda bay card front using the same glue.

The sentiment from the Birthday Goodness stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and trimmed out with sharp scissors.

The inside and the envelope were decorated using the same stamps. I really like this masculine looking card. I hope you like it.
