A gorgeous robin Christmas card made using the Free as a Bird stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Robins for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

Today I am hopping along with the fabulous Stamp ‘n Hop blog hoppers. If you have hopped over from the lovely Laura or started  the blog hop with me…..welcome and enjoy the hop. Our theme this month is ‘Hello to the new catalogue’.

I knew exactly which stamp set I wanted to use as I fell in love with the sweet row of birds from the new Free As A Bird stamp set, I couldn’t wait to see if I could make them look like robins, we Brits love a robin. So I have made my first Christmas card of the year……. I know…….sorry……

To recreate the Robin card you will need;

Mossy Meadow card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Terracotta Tile cardstock – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Mosiac Mood dsp 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner – for the inside
Whisper White cardstock 4½” by 3” for die cutting

I stamped the sweet row of birds onto the smallest piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it out using the new Stitched Nested Dies. I trimmed down the left side of the die cut piece.

The sentiment form the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in Mossy Meadow at the bottom of the panel on the right hand side.

I coloured in the image using the following Blends Markers – Crumb Cake combo, Mossy Meadow combo, Calypso Coral combo, dark Soft Suede and the Color Lifter.

The piece of Mosiac Moods dsp was glued to the Terracotta Tile and then to the Mossy Meadow card base.

The coloured and die cut panel was adhered to the dspe panel with Dimensionals and a piece of the Magnolia Lane ribbon was wrapped around the panel and stuck to the back with Sellotape.

I added a bow using the Magnolia Lane Twine and a trio of Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots. The birds were stamped on the inside panel and the front of the envelope to complete the card.

I love how this card turned out, it is adorable. I hope you like it.

Please hop on to see what my friend Susan has to share with us this month and continue to hop on around for lots of ideas and inspiration.

Today I am sharing my entry to this week’s Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge #436.

Making the card

Snowfall thinlits and Frosted Floral dsp for a Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

www.crafty-rootes.com – Snowfall thinlits for a Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

I chose the Frosted Floral designer series paper (dsp) and cut 2 panels – one at 5¼ ” by 1” and the other at 4” by 1½”. The 5 ¼” by 1” piece was added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to a panel of Blackberry Bliss cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 1⅛”. The shorter panel was added in the same way to a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅛” by 1⅜.

I took a Gray Granite card base and added the longer panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I then placed the other panel on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The snowflake was added with a combination of Liquid Adhesive and Dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment for the Itty Bitty Greeting stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it down before adding with glue. I finished off with a scattering of Basic Rhinestones.

Such a pretty card. I hope you like it.

Half Full – GDP #165

This week’s GDP #165 challenge is to make a project using the colours; Crumb Cake, Merry Merlot and Tranquil Tide. I have to say these aren’t colours I would normally gravitate towards but I really enjoyed using them. This is what I came up with.

A Christmas card made using the Nothing Sweeter stamp set and Sweetly Stitched framelits by Stampin' Up!

Nothing Sweeter than Christmas

Today I have had my first play with a really versatile stamp set called Nothing Sweeter. I used the quirky Christmas tree image from the stamp set which also has images of a present, a heart, a snowflake, a group of stars and a number of versatile sentiments.

Nothing Sweeter Christmas Card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4” by 3¾”. I inked up the large texture stamp from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set using 2nd generation Balmy Blue ink. I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue ink in the upper left hand corner of the panel and rounded the same corner using the Detailed Trio Punch. Using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive I added the stamped panel to a layer of Mossy Meadow cardstock having rounded the same corner.

I then took some scrap Whisper White cardstock and stamped the outline Christmas tree image in Mossy Meadow ink three times. I added the tree interior in 2nd or 3rd generation ink before die cutting them using the Big Shot and the Sweetly Stitched Framelits, both the tree frame and the stitched inner die. The trees were added to the right side of the panel using either Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive or Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some stars around the die cut trees in 2nd generation Balmy Blue ink.

The beautiful Bauble stamp set by Stampin Up makes a gorgeous watercoloured Christmas card

Beautiful Bauble watercoloured

A couple of days ago I saw a video where fellow demonstrator Alisa Tilsner aka The Artful Stamper made a card using the gorgeous Beautiful Bauble stamp set and I had to try CASEing it myself.

Making the Beautiful Bauble card

I started with a panel of Watercolor Paper 4½” by 3”. I rubbed the Embossing Buddy over the paper to get rid of oils and static before stamping the large bauble randomly across the panel with Versamark ink. I then covered the panel in White Embossing Powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool.

The beautiful Bauble stamp set by Stampin Up makes a gorgeous watercoloured Christmas card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Baubles heat embossed and watercoloured

I chose to colour my baubles using HighIand Heather and Coastal Cabana and added a couple of drops of each of the re-inkers to a clear block. I then added water to one bauble using an Aquapainter, picked up some of the re-inker with the Aquapainter and added it to the bauble. I love the way the ink moves in the water. I coloured each bauble one at a time.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Baubles heat embossed and watercoloured

When all the baubles were coloured in I left the panel to dry before adding it with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to a layer of Coastal Cabana cardstock measuring 4¾” by 3¼”. This panel was then glued to a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅞” by 3⅜”. The whole piece was then added to a Highland Heather card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark onto a scrap of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and covered with White Embossing Powder. I heat set it using my Heat tool before adding it to the front of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I absolutely love this card, it is gorgeous and so easy to make. I will try it in some other colours.

Gorgeous trio of cards using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Blended Seasons Classes

Today I am sharing the cards we made during this month’s classes. We used the gorgeous Blended Seasons stamp set and the co-ordinating Stitched Seasons dies. This set is only available until the 31st August or while stocks last so if you like it don’t wait to buy it. I decided to use this set to do a masterclass in colouring using Blends, Watercolor Pencils with Blender Pens and ink pads with Aquapainters.

Gorgeous trio of cards using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

Card 1 – Blossoms

The first card was very straight forward but to ensure everyone got a crisp stamped image we mounted the stamp onto the Stampartus. We stamped onto a panel of Whisper White measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The ladies then chose a duo of Blends Pens to colour the flowers and a second set to colour the leaves. The sample used the Cherry Coober duo for 2 flowers and the Poppy Parade duo for the 3rd flower. I used the Granny Apple Green duo for the leaves.

Gorgeous floral card using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

Using the Detailed Trio Punch we rounded the upper left corner of the stamped panel and a panel of Basic Gray measuring 5½” by 3¾” and adhered the two together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. We stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. Using the Blends pens we coloured some pearls to co-ordinate with the coloured image and added them to the panel before adhering it to a Thick Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Card 2 – Christmas!!!!!

In my opinion it is never too early to make Christmas cards and thankfully my ladies were prepared to indulge me! We began by taking a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and die cutting the middle stitched shape from the gorgeous Stitched Seasons dies. These are lovely dies used on their own but absolutely stunning when layered together.

Gorgeous Christmas card using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

We stamped the sentiment and the holly boughs in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto the die cut Shimmery White piece and coloured them in using the lovely Watercolor Pencils from the original set and the set currently available until August 31st. We then blended the colour with Blender Pens.

Taking a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock 5¼” by 3½” we stamped the sweet leaf image in the left upper and right lower corners using Garden Green ink and adhered the label to a Thick Whisper White card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. We added a strip of Cherry Cobbler 5⅞” by ⅜” across the centre and added the coloured panel on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added a scattering of coloured Basic Pearls to the panel.

Card 3 – Autumnal Easel

We started making this card by die cutting the lovely stitched frames using the Big shot. The largest shape was cut from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and the medium size from Shimmery White cardstock. We also die cut the sweet leaf shape from the Stitched Seasons dies from Copper Foil Paper.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

We stamped the gorgeous leaf image in Versamark ink onto the Shimmery White die cut piece and covered it with Copper Embossing powder which we heat set with the Heat Tool……….and yes most of us remembered to use the Embossing Buddy.

Gorgeous Autumnal Easel card using Blended Seasons Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons stamp set used for August classes

We used Cherry Cobbler ink pad, Pumpkin Pie ink pad, Crushed Curry ink pad and Garden Green ink pad and Aquapainters to colour in the image. Love the effect watercoloring gives and the fact that you can layer up the colour to get a rich, intense colour. WE stamped the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink before adhering the stamped layer to the Cherry Cobbler layer.

We added the panel to a card base of Thick Whisper White 11¾” by 4⅛”, scored at 2 15/16ths and 5⅞”. You need to make sure you only add glue to the bottom half of the panel or the card fold won’t work properly. The copper leaf is then added to the inside of the card on Dimensionals to act as a stopper. We added coloured Basic Pearls to finish the card.

Christmas Wreath using the Painted Harvest stamp set

Today I am sharing the card I made for this month’s team challenge the theme of which was ‘make a Christmas project using non Christmas supplies. I decided to try making a Christmas Wreath using my Stamparatus and the Painted Harvest stamp set which hasn’t had a lot of love recently

Before starting this card I watched the video by Dawn of DoStamping –  where she explains how to make a template to use with the Stamparatus. I used my retired Square dies and Window Sheet to make the template for this particular; I wanted a larger sized wreath.

Making the Christmas Wreath card

I began by placing my Window Sheet template in the corner of my Stamparatus. I placed a 3¾” square of Whisper White cardstock in the negative space at the centre of the template; the square is exactly the same size as the negative space. I placed the solid leaf stamp onto the Whisper White cardstock and picked it up with one of the plates.

Pretty Christmas Wreath made using the Stamparatus and the Painted Harvest stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I inked the stamp with Granny Apple Green ink and stamped it down. I rotated the cardstock one turn within the template and inked up and stamped the leaf image in the same way. I repeated this step by stamping the leaf all the way round the panel.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Next I positioned the more detailed leaf stamp, inked up in Mossy Meadow ink and stamped it around the wreath as before. I stamped the sentiment from the Mistletoe Season stamp set in the centre of the wreath in Real Red ink and added some of the gorgeous new Red Rhinestones to give some colour and shine.

Pretty Christmas Wreath made using the Stamparatus and the Painted Harvest stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I ran a 5⅝” by 3⅞” panel of Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot with the Layering Leaves embossing folder and added the stamped panel on top with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I wrapped a piece of ⅜” Real Red Cotton Ribbon around the join securing it on the back with Sellotape. The whole panel was then added to a Thick Whisper White card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I added a bow in the same ribbon.

Use the quirky Christmas Sweaters stamp set to make fun, modern looking Christmas cards.

Quirky, modern Christmas card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Sweaters by Stampin’ Up

For today’s project I stamped one of the sweaters from the Christmas Sweater stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I carefully coloured alternate stripes of the sweater using the brush end of the Berry Burst Marker. After a bit of trial and error I found it best to brush the colour on in one direction rather than going backwards and forwards, you get a less streaky finish.

The image was then die cut using the Big Shot and the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes framelit dies. I added the stitched circle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive to a large scallop circle which was die cut from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock using the Layering Circle framelit dies.

I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 3⅝” and wrapped a length of ½” Finely Woven Berry Burst Ribbon about a third of the way down the panel, adhering it to the back with sellotape and added the circle topper piece over the top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment was then stamped below the sweater using Lemon Lime Twist ink. The whole panel was then added to a Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
