Snowman Card for the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where we are sharing Christmas projects. I have used the pretty Snowman Magic stamp set and Snowman Dies to make a card.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the snowman card, you will need:

Pool Party card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛”
Pool Party card – 5½” by 3¾”
Mossy Meadow card – 3 ¼” by 3 ¼”
Basic White card – 3¼” by 3¼”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾”
Basic White strip – ⅜”
Scrap Basic White

Using the Charming Landscape Embossing Folder and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine I embossed the bottom of the Pool Party panel. I added stars using Pool Party ink to the top of the panel. I added it to the Pool Party card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

A strip of Glittered Organdy Ribbon was added where the embossing ended and held in place with Seal +.

I die cut a circle from the square of Basic White card using the Layering Circle Dies. I tore an edge from a scrap piece of copy paper and used it to add ‘snowbanks’ using Pool Party ink and a Blending Brush.

The trees were stamped in Mossy Meadow ink and the stars added in Daffodil Delight. The stamped circle was added, with liquid glue, to a slightly larger scalloped circle cut from the Mossy Meadow square. The circle was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

I stamped the snowman in Smoky Slate ink onto scrap Basic White card, adding the face with the same ink. The hat and scarf were stamped in Real Red onto scrap card. The pieces were then die cut using the Snowman Dies. I glued the hat and scarf to the snowman with liquid glue and added to the card front with the same glue.

The sentiment, from the Christmas to Remember stamp set was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink onto the strip of Basic White card and trimmed out with Scissors. It was glued to the card front.

Stunning lit up snow scene

Hometown Greetings Edgelit picture

On Tuesday a lovely group of ladies gathered at my house to make a stunning illuminated picture using the gorgeous Hometown Greetings Edgelit dies which have thankfully carried over and are still available to purchase in my online store.

mounting a picture

The ladies began by taking apart the Ikea picture frame, removing the plastic film from the Perspex panel, placing the cardstock picture mount directly onto the Perspex panel and adding the MDF frame on top. They used some Tear & Tape to adhere the cardstock picture mount to the MDF frame but did not remove the backing from the tape.

Next the ladies glued a 6” by 6” piece of the Merry Little Christmas dsp (retired) to the centre of the piece of white paper which came inside the frame.

Die cuttig Hometown Greetings

Taking 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock 6” by 5” and 1 piece of Whisper White cardstock 6” by 3” the ladies die cut the 3 rows of houses using the Big Shot. Each Whisper White panel was place landscape style – with the 6” wide edge at the top, onto the Big Shot cutting platform. The dies were then placed so that the roofs of the houses/church were right at the top of each panel and roughly in the centre from side to side. The dies will not cut right to the edge of the Whisper White panels. When the rows of houses were die cut they were then trimmed free of the cardstock using Scissors.

Punching a hole

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hometown Greetings Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

The ladies then laid the tallest panel with the smallest houses on top of the dsp panel to work out a rough positioning. When they were happy they punched a hole in the white paper panel using the 1/4″ Hand Held Circle Punch on the left hand side and just below the level of the Whisper White cardstock.

Next they removed the clear protective strip from the LED lights and switched them on to check that they worked. The string of lights was then fed through the punched hole until they reached the thicker piece close to the battery pack. The battery pack was then brought round to the back of the MDF panel where the corner had already been removed. The thick piece of cable was then adhered to the other side of the MDF panel with Tear & Tape; again the backing was left on. The battery pack was then secured to the outside with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The white piece of paper with the attached dsp was then glued to the MDF panel hiding the thicker end of the wiring. The tallest layer of die cut Whisper White was then laid on top whilst the ladies worked out the positioning of the lights behind each house and secured the lights in position with Mini Glue Dots. It is easier to do this with the lights switched on and to use all the lights up they needed to place 2 or 3 lights under the church and some of the houses in all the layers. When they were happy with the positioning of the lights the second panel was laid on top to work out the positioning and a hole was then punched below the top of the second panel so that the string of lights would not be seen. The tallest layer was then added over the top of the dsp using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The lights were then placed behind the houses and the church and attached to the first layer with Mini Glue Dots. At the end of this row the smallest layer was laid on top and a hole punched below the top line to allow the remaining lights to be fed through. The second layer was then added with Mini Glue Dots. After the remaining lights were positioned the smallest layer was added on Dimensionals.

The whole panel was then added to the base frame and the tabs pressed down to secure it in position. The ladies were delighted with their pictures which all looked amazing. Thank you to my lovely upline Mikaela Titheridge for the inspiration.

Wintery box

Hometown Greetings for a secret Santa box

Today I am sharing the box I made for my team secret Santa gift. This box proved amazingly popular with the team members.To make it you will need the following;
Night of Navy cardstock 10¾ by 10¾
Whisper white cardstock 7⅜ by 7⅜
Whisper White cardstock pieces 4” by 3” x 5
Emerald Envy cardstock 3″ by 3″
Night of Navy cardstock 3″ by 3″
Whisper White cardstock 3″ by 3″
Scraps of Emerald Envy cardstock

I have added photo’s to the description but have used lighter coloured cardstock as the score lines show up better.

Score Lines for a box base

www.crafty-rootes.com – Secret Santa box made using Hometown Greetings dies by Stampin’ Up!

Start by using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score the 10¾” by 10¾” piece of Night of Navy cardstock at 3¾” and 7” then rotate the cardstock 90⁰ and score at 3¾” and 7” again – ignore the extra partial line on the right, it was a mistake!!!

Making a box base

www.crafty-rootes.com – secret Santa box using Hometown Greetings dies by Stampin’ Up!

Using scissors cut up each of the vertical lines but only as far as the horizontal line – see picture. Then take a small wedge from the right and left side of each of the 4 tabs and trim about 1″ from each tab to make them shorter. Fold and burnish on the score lines. Using strong adhesive, Tear and Tape or Fast Fuse; stick each of the tabs to the inside to form a sturdy box base.

Next, score the 7⅜” by 7⅜” piece of Whisper White cardstock at ½” and 2” on all 4 sides.

Making a box top

Cut the tabs as shown in the picture.

Making a box lid

www.crafty-rootes.com – secret Santa box using Hometown Greetings dies by Stampin’ Up!

Fold and burnish on all the score lines. Apply a strong adhesive, Tear and Tape or Fast Fuse to the back of the 4 tabs and to the front of the 1/2″ score lines which will be folded over inside the lid to re-enforce the top.

Using the Hometown Greetings dies and the 5 pieces of 4” by 3” Whisper White cardstock and a Big Shot, die cut out the rows of houses.

side of a box

I cut out the church row once, the row of larger houses 3 times and the smaller houses once. The pieces will be longer than you need, you can trim them to size. Also die cut the trees using a scrap of Emerald Envy cardstock, these can be glued on top of the white trees with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Take one of the rows of larger houses and die cut with a 2¾” Layering Circle Die. Glue this to the same size die cut circle from Night of Navy cardstock. Then add this to a slightly larger scalloped circle die cut from Emerald Envy cardstock and the Layering Circles dies.

I took each of the die cut rows of houses and ‘scribbled’ all over them with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and sprinkled them with lots of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  The gorgeous, glittery houses can then be added to the sides of the box with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The Layered Circles were then added to the top of the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The box held a gorgeous candle surrounded by a wintery scene.
