Miss Mermaid

This weekend a friend of ours is taking part in the Miss Mermaid UK competition and I made her a sweet card to wish her luck.

Making the Miss Mermaid Card

I started with a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I ran my Embossing Buddy over the panel and inked up the gorgeous mermaid image with Versamark Ink. I stamped the image onto the Whisper White panel and covered it with Silver Embossing Powder before melting it with my Heat Tool.

I stamped the mermaid onto a large Post It Note and cut it out to provide a mask. Once the mask was in place I stamped the watery fronds in Soft Sea Foam ink, adding some speckles in Pool Party ink. I then removed the mask and coloured in the Mermaid using the following Blends Alcohol Pens – Light & Dark Pool Party, Light & Dark Highland Heather, Light Crumb Cake, Light Daffodil Delight & Ivory. I love the soft look of these colours

I then stamped the words Good Luck using the letters from the Make a Difference stamp set in the upper right corner but I didn’t like it so decided to tear the top of the stamped panel. I actually really liked the look this gave to the card.

Taking a panel of Pool Party measuring 5 ½” by 3 ¾” I stamped the watery fronds in the upper right corner in Pool Party ink before adding the stamped Whisper White panel with Multipurpose liquid Adhesive. I added the sentiment from the Banners For You stamp set in Highland Heather ink.

The whole stamped piece was added to a Highland Heather card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and a scattering of Iridescent Sequins added.

I think it is a gorgeous card and I hope Jess likes it and that it brings her luck.
